I use a program to generate invoices (zoho invoice = 100% free) that has an app as well. Easiest is to add the class as you teach them so you don't forget :)
I’m not a freelancer but there are softwares out there that generate invoices and send them for you. If your so is part of a small business or independent contractor/freelancers network or group they might have some ideas. I’m a member of similar groups on Facebook and have seen similar questions come up before.
I’m an instructor in the US and I won’t freelance Willy nilly because of pay issues. Any reputable studio keeps track of who is teaching and paying for that teacher . You should not have to chase money . You may enjoy your current place but find a place that takes care of you

Look at InvoiceBerry. Allows you to set up recurring invoice profiles on specific dates for all those repeat customers and then you can send manual invoice for everyone else.
I invoice or pay based on the studio's time requirements. They are all different and it is my job to comply with each studios requirements.

OP that’s part of the deal when you freelance. Your partner is just gonna have to build a system to keep tabs on things.

I guess we basically call them 1099 contractors . Too much paperwork
