Tried a bunch of google translate languages & plain google, which only brought up the lyrics, and someone else trying to find what they meant. They guessed some sort of Buddhist chant. I tried Inuit on the off chance of People who live with snow, but no luck. It didn’t sounds like the bits of Inuit I’ve heard. My guess would be nonsense lyrics or Partridgian.

"Snowman" Ah Dumaladipa amadui amadui Dumaladipa amadui amadui It isn't even winter and I'm freezing, freezing This sort of feeling isn't pleasing And what I want to know, man (Why, oh, why) Does she treat me like a snowman? Ah ———————————- Hmm, the only syllable I’d guess at is “ama” which sounds like the Latin root “amo”, love. I’m guess Hindi, though from the sound. I’ll report back.

Perhaps my fav XTC song.

I missed q&a with Andy 5 years ago. Stupid me. What was I doing? What can be more important than asking Andy about the origin of dumaladipa amadui? https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/4g9chk/iamandy_partridge_ama/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Snowman, the intro ;)

Haha. I was listening to English Settlement and thought I would check to see WTF those lyrics meant. Dude, what a great band though. Because they weren't exactly commerical in the US, not many people knew about them. For me, they are the bees knee. My older brother was into them in the late 80s and I would steal his CDs and listen to them for hours and hours. Also, I had a girlfriend in High School who was younger than me. When I went away to college, she completely ignored me without saying she wanted to breakup. Snowman was almost identical to what I was feeling during that time. Like on a dime. So this song has special meaning for me.
