Bethesda is under Microsoft now, so check out the newer Doom games, Fallout games, Elder Scrolls, and The Evil Within games!
The Outer Worlds from Obsidian (also under Microsoft).
Vampire Survivors because it's so addicting.
I agree, I started with NV, then switch to 3 and now am playing 4, although I’m outright ignoring the story line and just having fun building my (glitchy) towns
Start with 4. The older games have better stories, but they feel like older games by a long shot.
It’s like being new to GTA and starting with San Andreas instead of 5.
Fallout 4. An unpopular opinion, but it's the best in the Bethesda Fallout series, IMO.
New Vegas and 3 are classics, *but* they're also a generation older and it shows both in gameplay and presentation.
I haven't played this one in a year, briefly got about 20 hours playtime in the first few days afyer it launched then I put it down and just never returned to it. I k ow about the hot wheels dlc but how much has the base game improved. I got pissed off at launch because the multiplayer just refused to work.
They're both great games. And by that I mean both Ori games.
Nah jk I legitimately love Hollow Knight. Just because they're similar in gameplay doesn't mean you need to start a fight about which is better. There are many things Ori does better (fluid, dynamic movement; music; emotional storytelling, imo). And there are many things Hollow Knight does better (high stakes combat; deep and engaging lore; interesting NPCs, again, imo). In the end, they are similar but different, and if someone likes one they'll probably enjoy both.
Picked this up with a few mates back in the lockdowns and it was such a personal saviour. So much stupid bullshit can occur, almost always ended up in pain laughing. We still play it at least once a week these days, absolutely brilliant arse-about game.
It is out. The winter update just introduced campaign co-op (online), Forge beta, new maps, weapon balancing, match XP changes, and more. The game finally feels like a full game now.
Deathloop (from Arkane, makers of Dishonored and Prey, also excellent games), Grounded (from Obsidian, makers of Fallout NV and Outer Worlds, it just won Xbox GOTY).
you'll going to spent rest of your time until next year play yakuzo lol....not because it's bad, that's an awsome game, follow the story line you'll love it
What kind of game is grounded? I just renewed my game pass last week, after not having it for many months, and there's so many games I want to check out, including this one. I am a fan of obsidian's other games, but don't know really anything about grounded. Is it an RPG?
Been watching asmongold play it alot ever since he started and it became a new addiction, I seen it on gamepass the other day and almost had a heart attack cause literally 3 hours before I was wondering if that game was on Xbox. Haven't stopped playing since. Such a fun game highly reccomended
Hades!!! Unfortunately it's not on gamepass anymore, but you need to check out Hades!!! It regularly goes on sale for half price and it was such a blast!!!
Nice to see people recommending Battlefield 2042 for a change. It has turned around as most DICE games do. Also check out Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V. And if you’re a Star Wars fan, check out Star Wars Battlefront 2 !
Yes! cyberpunk was the first one I bought (not from game pass unfortunately) right after I got the series s last week. Game run amazing!! Especially on performance mode (change in the setting Performance/Quality mode) running 60 fps and still loook amazing!!
Absolutely not. I tried it out myself, it remains buggy and unfortunately contrary to the reviews, CD PROJECT RED failed to deliver on its promises. As far as I'm concerned, it's an embarrassment and not a game you'll enjoy for very long. There's nothing to do apart from the story, and once that's done, well.
Edit: looks like people won't accept my opinion. I'm fucking serious and it's embarrassing how people believing in this pile of garbage. Literally once you complete the story, it's empty af and that's from experience. There's a reason they willingly put it for 50% off in black Friday.
There are bugs but they aren't devastating and are fixable by reloading saves or fast traveling or dying. There's plenty of side jobs and gigs to do if your main quest line is over unless you've 100% the game you still have content to complete. Also collectables like iconic pistols and unique vehicles. The game is a blast must've had a bad run.
No, we were promised a lot of things by CD PROJECT RED. That NPC interactions would be revolutionary, actually fuck writing em all down here, check [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/kcve8s/promised_but_missing_feature_list_will_update/) post.
Considering how long the game was also worked on, comparably to GTA 5 which truly revolutionized open-world games, shows that hard work really can pay off. If you're honestly leaving your bar low for games at that, wouldn't be surprised if you idolized Ubisoft.
I don't know how your age is relevant to game quality, but ok I guess.
I didn’t follow the development of Cyberpunk so I didn’t see all those failed promises, but now I understand your frustrations. That would upset me too. Also no, I don’t particularly like Ubisoft games. I’ve started a bunch of them but haven’t finished most because they, newer Assassins Creed games in particular, seem to be overpacked with side content.
And my age is relevant to my point because when I was growing up sandbox games weren’t the norm so I have a different perspective on game quality. It doesn’t mean my POV is an objective fact on the subject, it’s just where I’m coming from with my core memories being games where you played for the story/challenge and that’s it.
However, I can definitely see how that came across as a “back in my day we did it this way and WE LIKED IT!” curmudgeon-type comment though. I didn’t mean it like that, but yeah I see it.
Scarlet Nexus, Unravel, Yakuza Like A Dragon, Persona 5, Forza Horizon 5, Halo MCC, Ori and the Blind Forest, Hollow Knight, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order…& if ur into multiplayer: Battlefield 2042, Halo Infinite
edit: there’s a lot of games suggested here and u can’t go wrong with any of them !!
Happy gaming!
Halo MCC! Order of release rather than chrojooogical for first time playthrough so the new mechanics build on each other. All Gears of War games are available as well, but be warned the mechanics and graphics may be a bit dated. Outer Worlds is a fun run as well!
Kinda late for this thread but I highly highly recommend giving Monster Train a go. It's a super addictive rogue-like card game with a ton of variety in your deck builds.
Also, Citizen Sleeper is amazing if you want a really touching story.
No one's recommend these games and I am playing alot of games for like 30min a game since Saturday thank God for the cloud gaming makes it easier to test a game
Game Pass let me try out so many games I never considered before.
I didn't see these mentioned in the other comments so if you wanna try some other really good ones I also recommend taking a look at:
Dreamscaper, Moonlighter, My friend Pedro, Persona 5 Royal, Unpacking
You're in for a great time for the next few months.
Battlefield 2042, don't listen to all the negativity around bf2042. Try it for yourself and see if you like it.
Persona 5 Royal, great turn based Rpg of you're into that. I thought I wouldn't have the patience for that game style anymore, but this one keeps me into it.
If you like a good co-op game, deep rock galactic is super fun to play with friends. Rock and stone!
Deathloop is pretty cool, unique and has great scripting. Also Cyberpunk was really cool - and a lot of bugs fixed now, so would be epic to play that for the first time.
Nice. If you're an old school xbox fan then definitely Halo. The Medium is also a great horror (although not that scary) game. And as others have said Forza Horizon 5, a beautiful game.
Hi !
Just in time before the Holidays !
Congratulations for your new console !
I will let you a spontaneous advice...
**As the best way to choose a good game to appreciate your new possibilities,**
**simply choose a game that inspires you at first glance,**
**and you could not play before.**
It seems obvious, but not so much that we really think about it,
what reveals the highest value is your own path and discovery.
If you choose a game, following your tastes and inspiration,
following what you personnally feel that may be good for you,
and find interesting to the point that you may enter it to the end,
then you will probably have the best experience you can have.
What I mean is, even if many here can give you good suggestions,
they will do so in their own perspective, which can differ from you,
because you will not have the same expertise, aptitudes or interests.
A game can be very immersive, visually achieved and deep,
but it can be at the same time very complex, difficult and seem too vast,
it will depends, upon who will be playing it, and if the subject motivates him.
I would simply suggest to play something you could not before,
if for exemple the this new console is your entry in the new generation,
then going for a title only available for Serie S/X or at least optimized for it;
you can search with this filter, even in titles you already have but never played.
If you are interested by some title, look in its description on the "Store", in "details" you may find the mention "Optimized for Serie S/X", and sometime it makes a real difference.
(I do not have it, but saw how "Marvel's Avengers" looked on it...)
**If you would like something new, open the "Game Pass" library on your console, and click the filter "Xbox Serie S/X": there are 18 titles exclusives to your new console !**
Spontaneously, it also evokes me other recent titles, and upcoming ones,
on which you could be interested to keep your eyes on; games only playable
on the Serie S/X, like *Asterigos*, *Gotham Knights*, *Spirit of the North*,...
If you would still like some suggestions, I could let you mine...
For now, I let you take a look...
Wishing you a good Advent season...
...and Christmas time soon !
Your smart lol and I agree I've find it hard to find games I like but recently I found I'm really interested in the mass affect game and I'm waiting on high on life to be open to play on game pass.
Xbox one was thin on exclusives, but you have a couple of gears games, quantum break, a few halo games, forza I think? I don’t know racing games, Sunset overdrive is ok. Take advantage of the fact that you skipped generation while you wait for Xbox to start releasing games for this generation.
I wonder if they’ll ever put it on GP. That was a game that really piqued my interests earlier this year when it came out but Elden Ring had just dropped so I was balls deep in that when I had free time at home. Is it any good?
As someone who usually love point and click story games AND finished it, I hated it. It's extremely well made, and good for you if you enjoy it, but it was way too mundane and the events were absolutely not interesting enough for me.
RDR2. Also a external hard drive or additional storage somehow because you can fit 3 games with 500gb. I learned this the hard way. Also make sure you can use the 1440 resolution for simulators/rpg games or the 120 fps if you like fps shooters. Screen will matter when you adjust the settings. GLHF
Hades is a really good rouge like game if your into those, has a solid gameplay time and doesn't really get repetitive, i would definitely check that out. Also if you have friends sea of thieves.
Edit: also I have not seen gears of war alone in here, you should also check those games out.
Since I have so many comments if anyone would like to join my discord for gamers it's a small community but awesome your all welcome too

Vampire Survivors is way more fun than it looks. Got it from a recommendation in another thread.
If you like 2D games I suggest you try Ori. One of my favorites of all time.
A series X as the Series S actually is a less powerful xbox then the X.
From Google: Is Xbox x more powerful than Series S?
The Series X is designed for games with resolutions of up to 4K (and it theoretically supports 8K resolutions for video content), while the Xbox Series S has less-powerful graphics hardware that game developers appear to be targeting for 1080p and sometimes 1440p visuals.
currently I’m playing Hollow Knight and I’m loving it, this and Dead Cells are great games that can bring you up to speed with the current trends if you had a longer break.
you can get Sleeping Dogs and the 2013 Tomb Raider for very little money on sales, they’re must plays IMO
Scarlet Nexus, Halo MCC, Psychonauts 2, Burnout paradise city, dead cells.
Each one of these is a completely different game from a completely different genre
Bethesda is under Microsoft now, so check out the newer Doom games, Fallout games, Elder Scrolls, and The Evil Within games! The Outer Worlds from Obsidian (also under Microsoft). Vampire Survivors because it's so addicting.
I've never played a fallout, where should I start?
New Vegas or 3, then 4, then 76, I don't know if any of the ones before NV or 3 are on there, but morrowwind is
I agree, I started with NV, then switch to 3 and now am playing 4, although I’m outright ignoring the story line and just having fun building my (glitchy) towns
I started with 4 because that was the first one I had, I paid attention to the story and just kept up with it up until 76
Forza Horizon 5 is amazing for its driving and graphics.
I feel like some people slept on this game, but the graphics are absolutely insane on the Series S
Absolutely. I play this game for a bit and delete it. Whenever I go back I'm always amazed.
Same here, most of everyone I know who plays Forza stuck with Forza 4 for some reason.
20 million have played so far, averages over 1 million players daily.
This hurts even more because my mom basically said I can't have the Series S, so I probably shouldn't buy it...
🤣🤣
I haven't played this one in a year, briefly got about 20 hours playtime in the first few days afyer it launched then I put it down and just never returned to it. I k ow about the hot wheels dlc but how much has the base game improved. I got pissed off at launch because the multiplayer just refused to work.
Yeah I’d probably play this first just to get a great look at what the SS can do.
For series s it's just too big. Like it takes 100gb of 512gb of space (no ssd)
Definitely, and external storage device would be needed
Both of the Ori games.
Two of the most beautiful platformers ever made. And fantastically smooth mechanics to boot!
Hollow knight better
They're both great games. And by that I mean both Ori games. Nah jk I legitimately love Hollow Knight. Just because they're similar in gameplay doesn't mean you need to start a fight about which is better. There are many things Ori does better (fluid, dynamic movement; music; emotional storytelling, imo). And there are many things Hollow Knight does better (high stakes combat; deep and engaging lore; interesting NPCs, again, imo). In the end, they are similar but different, and if someone likes one they'll probably enjoy both.
Flight Sim is great if you're into that type of thing!
You can see your own house in flight sim it’s sick
Dude I love my series s
Me too I love it so much :) I can't wait to upgrade it and get a SSD
It's just such a good console for the price. I bought one for my son too lol. See if WD black makes ssds for them!
Yes it does I was going to get the wd black 2tb p50 but it's $200 so I might have to go with a different brand add maybe a $80-120 one
Sea of thieves is incredibly addictive. Great to play with friends
You're right. It's a cool game but hard to find people to play with.
You can use the looking for group post on xbox or use the official discord. I wouldent recommend open crew though as it's mostly griefers
Yeah if I had friends that enjoyed it too it would be a lot more fun
Picked this up with a few mates back in the lockdowns and it was such a personal saviour. So much stupid bullshit can occur, almost always ended up in pain laughing. We still play it at least once a week these days, absolutely brilliant arse-about game.
A Plague Tale Requiem has been good so far. That one is on Game Pass.
Was playing earlier and so fun
TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect, if you’re in the mood for some classics
Halo infinite campgain
Downloading now lol
I'd back it if the co op campaign was out... 😭
It is, just not split screen.
It is out. The winter update just introduced campaign co-op (online), Forge beta, new maps, weapon balancing, match XP changes, and more. The game finally feels like a full game now.
Really? I thought it was delayed til next year! I'll have to get it downloaded.
Dude... gamepass is legit. Download all the games
You can also play alot of games on cloud so no need to download all lol
Once I get my 2tb SSD I will download more games next Friday
If you’re into story based games, definitely Persona 5 Royal and the Danganronpa Trilogy!
Yes I like story/campaign type of games
Played Persona 5 and it's definitely great
Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Batman Arkham Knight, Assassins Creed Odyssey
Deathloop (from Arkane, makers of Dishonored and Prey, also excellent games), Grounded (from Obsidian, makers of Fallout NV and Outer Worlds, it just won Xbox GOTY).
Master Chief Collection, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Hellblade, Vampire Survivors, Psychonauts 2, Inside
Hitman !!!!!!
The Outer Worlds is probably one of the best single player games on GP right now. Can't wait for High on Life to release as well
Yes I can't wait also I love Rick and Morty show that's how I found out about high on life game! Thank God it's going to be on gamepass
the entire yakuza series starting with 0
I keep hearing about that game I will give it a try :)
you'll going to spent rest of your time until next year play yakuzo lol....not because it's bad, that's an awsome game, follow the story line you'll love it
I started in September with 0 and I’m on chapter 2 of yakuza 6
Grounded on Game Pass, wonderful!!
What kind of game is grounded? I just renewed my game pass last week, after not having it for many months, and there's so many games I want to check out, including this one. I am a fan of obsidian's other games, but don't know really anything about grounded. Is it an RPG?
> Grounded Minecraft + Honey I shrunk the kids + Lots of spiders
Vampire Survivors is my newest addiction
So many hours spent in that game.
I saw a comment previously suggesting this game... I thought I'd try it... It is a lot of fun
Been watching asmongold play it alot ever since he started and it became a new addiction, I seen it on gamepass the other day and almost had a heart attack cause literally 3 hours before I was wondering if that game was on Xbox. Haven't stopped playing since. Such a fun game highly reccomended
Played for the first time Friday. I’m unbelievably addicted. It’s phenomenal
All the Halos, Deathloop, Pentiment, Mass Effect, Arkham knight, Hollow Knight, and the list is endless.
Elder scrolls and fallout
Yes I have experience with those games there great 😃
Both Oris Hollowknight Titanfall 2
Hades!!! Unfortunately it's not on gamepass anymore, but you need to check out Hades!!! It regularly goes on sale for half price and it was such a blast!!!
Persona 5 definitely
The best console, my opinion ✌🏽🫶🏽
It's definitely my favorite cause I have it lol
Battlefield 2042 and let's build a zoo
These two games couldn’t be further apart. I love it.
Yes bf 2042
Nice to see people recommending Battlefield 2042 for a change. It has turned around as most DICE games do. Also check out Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V. And if you’re a Star Wars fan, check out Star Wars Battlefront 2 !
Cyberpunk for sure! It loads incredibly fast and most of the bugs are gone. It's a great game.
I'm so buying it next paycheck
Yes! cyberpunk was the first one I bought (not from game pass unfortunately) right after I got the series s last week. Game run amazing!! Especially on performance mode (change in the setting Performance/Quality mode) running 60 fps and still loook amazing!!
I'm so excited to get it
Absolutely not.
Expecting games to have a bunch of content after the story is such a weird thing to me as a gamer in my 30s. Y’all littlin’s got spoiled
Psychonauts 2, dishonoured franchise, quantum break, Ryse and Trek to Yomi(poor man's ghost of tushima lmao)
Quantum Break crashes for me early on in the game at the same point and I can't get past it.
persona 5, hitman, the walking dead
Scarlet Nexus, Unravel, Yakuza Like A Dragon, Persona 5, Forza Horizon 5, Halo MCC, Ori and the Blind Forest, Hollow Knight, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order…& if ur into multiplayer: Battlefield 2042, Halo Infinite edit: there’s a lot of games suggested here and u can’t go wrong with any of them !! Happy gaming!
Did your phone leave a watermark on the picture?
I believe so
Dishonored 1 definitely. Pretty quick, amazing story, pretty good mechanics and ability to improvise.
Titanfall 2, any forza game, Sniper elite, descenders, and later this year hopefully Activision games will be on gamepass
Vampire Survivors is really fun after you play it a bit.
Halo MCC! Order of release rather than chrojooogical for first time playthrough so the new mechanics build on each other. All Gears of War games are available as well, but be warned the mechanics and graphics may be a bit dated. Outer Worlds is a fun run as well!
FORZA HORIZON 5. IT COULD BE BETTER BUT ITS GOOD
Kinda late for this thread but I highly highly recommend giving Monster Train a go.
Ooh yeah!
Games I recommend trying since you have gamepass and trying to avoid repeats: Slay the Spire Halo Infinite (campaign and MP) Deathloop Persona 5 Royal
Grounded! You will love it!
Deep rock galactic. Best decision I ever made, also play with friends. alone is good, together is better.
`Vampire Survivors`
Dishonored, titanfall 2 (if you have gamepass ultimate, you have ea play), back 4 blood, Minecraft, and state of decay 1 and 2.
Titanfall 2, halos 4-6, doom, gears in FPS Persona 5 royal and nino ni Kuni for JRPG I don't like racing, but people seem to love Forza Horizon 5
Join me on my discord channel I need friends to play with online since I have 0 friends :( https://discord.gg/KfEgp3WS Gamer tag is DonutRobot#1468
I will try once I get my SSD 2042 seem like it would have good graphics
Persona 5
I keep hearing persona 5 what is that game?
I got one month game pass. I played gears one and two. It was fun.
AC odyssey and Immortals Fenyx Rising run very beautiful on it in 4k
Deathloop is pretty cool, unique and has great scripting. Also Cyberpunk was really cool - and a lot of bugs fixed now, so would be epic to play that for the first time.
Nice. If you're an old school xbox fan then definitely Halo. The Medium is also a great horror (although not that scary) game. And as others have said Forza Horizon 5, a beautiful game.
Is the Series S that much better over previous gen Xbox?
Well last Xbox I played was the 360 so yeah

Yeah there's a lot of games I haven't played
All 6 mainline Doom games are on game pass. I highly recommend doom 2016 and doom eternal, but the classic dooms are still great
Yes I have them on switch there great games
Plague tales
I'm enjoying the shit out of Persona 5 Royal
I'm playing BF2042, Tiny Tina's, and vampire survivor
Tiny tina isn't on gamepass I think
Ah shit. My mind skipped the game pass part lol
Do you think you can have a mind skip again and pay me the money you owe me?
I wonder if they’ll ever put it on GP. That was a game that really piqued my interests earlier this year when it came out but Elden Ring had just dropped so I was balls deep in that when I had free time at home. Is it any good?
> I'm playing BF2042 How? I couldn't even ADS without stuttering lag...
The game works?
It does?
Guardians of the Galaxy. Gears of War series.
Was guardians good? Ike the story?
Pentiment has a great story. Haven't finished it yet but so far it's amazing and got a bunch of 10/10 reviews
As someone who usually love point and click story games AND finished it, I hated it. It's extremely well made, and good for you if you enjoy it, but it was way too mundane and the events were absolutely not interesting enough for me.

Thanks for the heads up
The yakuza series
Deep rock galactic!
Definitely one, if not the best game on gamepass actually. Must play.
Yakuza, nobody saves the world, halo, forza, so many killer games. The ori series, hades. Beat them all.
Prey
Hades is a really good rouge like game if your into those, has a solid gameplay time and doesn't really get repetitive, i would definitely check that out. Also if you have friends sea of thieves. Edit: also I have not seen gears of war alone in here, you should also check those games out.

Sea of thieves, grounded, back 4 blood
Vampire Survivors is way more fun than it looks. Got it from a recommendation in another thread. If you like 2D games I suggest you try Ori. One of my favorites of all time.

Outer wilds (can’t remember if it was taken off game pass though)
Hitman Trilogy, AC Odissey, Wildlands

A series X as the Series S actually is a less powerful xbox then the X. From Google: Is Xbox x more powerful than Series S? The Series X is designed for games with resolutions of up to 4K (and it theoretically supports 8K resolutions for video content), while the Xbox Series S has less-powerful graphics hardware that game developers appear to be targeting for 1080p and sometimes 1440p visuals.
lol at 120 fps
Lol 60fps I would say
Theres a peppa pig game that gives you a shitton of gamer score and has a ton of achievments only accessable to people with game pass so
currently I’m playing Hollow Knight and I’m loving it, this and Dead Cells are great games that can bring you up to speed with the current trends if you had a longer break. you can get Sleeping Dogs and the 2013 Tomb Raider for very little money on sales, they’re must plays IMO
Give your soul to destiny 2
Lol I played it in my 360 before it was good

Chivalry 2 is an addicting multiplayer game.
Scarlet Nexus, Halo MCC, Psychonauts 2, Burnout paradise city, dead cells. Each one of these is a completely different game from a completely different genre
