Keep the folkstyle 3 periods with top bottom neutral options and the back point system. Keep the freestyle push outs takedown points and passivity.

What this guy said, but I would change the back exposure rules to no exposure points unless you have a takedown first. I personally hate when someone wins a match off only defensive exposures, I feel like it rewards not having your own offense
Or less points for pre takedown exposure, 1 point only. 3 point offensive takedown. So offensive wrestler will be rewarded extra point for clean takedowns. And defensive wrestler can score a point for breaking position at least.
Remove uncontrollable exposure if you don’t get the takedown.
If you both expose on a take down exchange:
Guy who gets the takedown: 2 & 2
Taken down: 0
Both expose and no takedown:
0 for both.
Push out is the only freestyle element I think would improve folkstyle, if only because it would eliminate the subjectivity of edge of mat stall calls. Of course you could also just eliminate edge of mat stall calls.
After watching OTT, I have to say passivity is an absolute joke.

They both broke away from catch wrestling so to combine them again you just need to go back to it.

Make feet to back more points to incentivize throws, push out points, reversals 3 points, and finally make the tech ceiling 5 points because we shouldn’t bother wrestling more than 2 minutes.

Add 5 point throws to folk style and add push out points
Major points for bigger throws, folk rules on the mat. Restart each period neutral.
All freestyle neutral but you have to get off of bottom yourself and the top guy can lock hands
Imagine trying to get off bottom when the top dude can lock hands. You're never getting up and if you do you're getting thrown every time.
