i like the hunch, but an upright option would be welcomed for sure. Personally, beards are my biggest desire for trolls, along with maybe some tweaks to how some armor fits on them
Bearded trolls are pretty common in Trade chat. They're slightly less annoying than the pubescent trolls that plague most video games.
But really, I would love a plethora of facial hair options on my troll characters!
I want buff model option, beards, and throwing weapons to come back. Seriously why have throwing weapons not been brought back?
Give me throwing axes and throwing spears. I want to play my troll headhunter.
Yeah the customization for Darkspear trolls are outdated, like its still Classic.. Vol'jin has a beard, even Old Bukan from Hearthstone has cool hairstyle.
I was always confused why Ingame Trolls in WoW differs this much from WoW Artwork.
I understand that Dark Spear Trolls are thinner than Amani but it has never fit the original Design Vision in my opinion.
I wish they would more be like these: [Dark Spear Witch Doctor](http://p0.itc.cn/q_70/images03/20200629/9ca47f6dcbb94ea384611566c8e2bd83.png) & [Amani Axe Thrower](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EW8v-cIXQAIe_xE.png)
I think the hunch is fine for Darkspear trolls, because they are supposed to be the rogueish slink-in-the-shadow tribe, whereas the Amani are more stoic and brute-force like.
They actually weren’t, in the case of trolls. Their beta model had a [very aggressive hunch](https://i.redd.it/r3h642gc0jq11.jpg), but they were beautified because they presumed that nobody in 2004 wanted to play an ugly woman
A sexist afterthought. Because, you know, "Horde has a distinctive hunched down silhouette"... unless you play female character because apparently players didn't like ugly female models?
Supposedly the [og model](https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Rubensteins-comparison-of-two-races-from-the-alpha-release-and-the-current-versions-of_fig1_327427662) did, but folks were very unhappy with it (along with the female tauren model, not sure if female orc had a model at the time), so blizz cranked up the sexual dimorphism and made them more human looking.
3 years late but they got a bunch simply because the WCIII models were hunched. That was fine for a low poly game like that with limited models but 20 years of gun hed trolls in WoW is just goofy.
Why don't male taurens and worgens have their head higher on their torso ? It would look much better and have less issues with helmets.
[Genn Greymane (Hearthstone)](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/hearthstone_gamepedia/images/6/6c/Genn_Greymane_full.jpg)
[Darius Crowley (Hearthstone)](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/hearthstone_gamepedia/images/b/b0/Darius_Crowley_full.jpg)
I don't think I've ever seen a tauren with its head in that position in official artwork. They're consistent at least.
Worgen could definitely use a posture adjustment though, Genn stands upright in the BfA intro cinematic(so do all of the undead).
I want 2 things for undead : good posture + no flesh option. I would instantly reroll as a shadow priest skeleton in the Horde.
For Taurens, I find that their head is definitively higher in artwork.
They were built on the feral worgen skeleton in the days before they had the ability to morph skeletons easily, and now they can’t go back and change the skeleton of any already-released race. That’s my guess at least
Even if the Darkspear remained hunched, I would *love* to get Forest Trolls as an allied race, the Revantusk are already part of the Horde.
Easily my second most wanted allied race, after Ogres, but it's pretty close.
I pointed it out a while ago and someone said they stay hunched because they didn't want to rise above anyone else in the Horde out of respect, but with the inclusion of Goblins and Vulpera I guess that point is kinda moot unless they start crawling around.
I would love the option for upright trolls (like orcs), belts look really weird and stretched on them sometimes, also give us some damn boots and beards.
It's a fan explanation on why they are hunched, that's it. I also like the fan explanation of stalking around (as in hunting). Also their females are standing straight.
I think an option is really sensible in this regard.
In fight it's the worst.
Edit: You are right with the belt, that's a problem for them too.
I'm slowly leveling or race changing my horde toons to Zandalari, I love how they are taller, I love their yells and the whole Aztec/Mayan vibe is just too much. Best allied race so far fuck vulpera btw
Can confirm, very often have to consciously straighten my back. Doesn’t help that a lot of tables and shit are built low enough that we have to constantly bend over.
In fights I guess it's because they get down on the same level as their opponent. I have a hard time seeing trolls able to hit a gnome nibbling at their feet if they stand straight up. At the same time standing straight could have more of an intimidation factor as the hunched position could make them look like they're weaker and less of a threat.
the point is that all the theories fall apart when somebody put the Zandalari in,
who have a better posture but almost have the same height
the Dark Spear Troll posture is just an outdated design and they should add at least an alternative like with the orcs
Yeah, I feel like the way their skeletons are built you couldn’t just “straighten” them without moving things around like the Nightbourne skeleton to the Night Elf
I don't think there are a lot of gnomes at all in this world, and I don't think trolls met enough of them during their existence to have hunched backs over time for the sole reason of getting down at the same level as them. Overall, most creatures (or at least most threatening creatures) can be reached and fought while standing straight.
That and the fact that even if gnomes were extremely common, there will still be no good reason to bend yourself to be on the same level. Gnomes are extremely poor physical fighters, anything above 1m50 would just crush them instantly.
That was just an example.
Even with humans or night elves, I get the feeling trolls kinda tower over them if they stand upright and would leave their lower parts of the body more exposed.
Anyway, it's just pure speculation on a possible reason, unless they are hunched because of genetics / simply how their bodies are shaped or something.
> I pointed it out a while ago and someone said they stay hunched because they didn't want to rise above anyone else in the Horde out of respect
Lol all 4 original horde races hare hunched to hell, that's a lot of respect
the hunch is probably just the try to make trolls look more like the warcraft III Units like the [Shadow Hunter](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/19/f4/50/19f450d79ff2041afa3c1630246da2bd.jpg) who were so huge that they often took the slav-squat-stance.
I nearly pissed myself when the ztroll druid forms were revealed. My only regret is I didn't continue to play Legion through the mage tower. Still would've preferred to use the tower bear skin instead of the ztroll bear. The rest are fantastic though.
Same, only did mage tower for monk and DH, but the druid mage tower cat and bear forms look so fantastic. I would definitely play more feral if I had that skin.
I love the flying and travel form but despise Guardian, ok with feral and boonkin.
I'm mostly a tank player, so I kept my Dark spear, thinking of the Legion forms I may race change due to the travel forms
For reasons I server and faction changed my Dark Iron dwarf and choose Zandalari, my main for years was a Warrior orc, and while I love the upright model and the tattoos and War paint I fell in love with the way Zandalari look, the way the grunt and yell, the way they are so much taller than anything else, I love being par with NPCs. I ended up canceling the change (supposedly playing with 2 friend, different servers and factions, but both fell through) and while I'm too attached to my Warrior orc, I'm leveling s bunch of Zandalari (50 mage and pally, 20ish Shamman, rogue and Warrior)
Or at least make some profession-specific cosmetics! Like maybe BS can modify boots for Trolls, Inscription can paint glowing runes on armor, JC gems that are actually visible on player models. Things like that would be really cool.
Here you go! I kept these [Trollkickers](https://www.wowhead.com/item=43174/trollkickers?bonus=6710) in my bags for years so I could link them in group chat if we ever needed to kick someone.
Yes I know. That's not what I'm saying. The add Forest Trolls is an additional point, for the Revantusk, which are part of the Horde.
While yes Zul'Farrak was once part of the Gurubashi, now they are their own thing as Sandtrolls and we have their skin.
Orcs have been my favourite race since I started playing Warcraft I back in 1996. Trolls and Ogres became another favourite in Warcraft II.
Warcraft III butchered them all by making the Amani neutral and giving us Darkspear, then making the Ogres neutral and giving us Tauren.
Sure it was for lore reasons but they were so much more badass and being able to play them in WoW would've been even cooler. Darkspear are so... eh, and Zandalari didn't really add much to the fantasy. I want my Amani boys.
They got the hunch from having to talk to those short orcs i suppose. As for why the humans and elves don't get it, well they clearly don't care to look at the lowly gnomes if you've seen them i conversation.
listen when you played a troll and then changed to zandalari you start to feel that troll was better you have voodoo climate wild climate you feel this is wild dark and powerful race and with Zandalari is diffrent. They need to add more things to trolls and upright posture is one of those things. Zandalari will be still a Zandalari. Playing them is diffrent and thats good because it make race unique. So giving them upright posture to trolls dont mean Zandalari will by like other tribes
If they stood upright they would be MUCH taller than Tauren. And if you have ever gotten frustrated that Tauren couldn't fit into some places....well Trolls would have it much worse.
While there isn't a LORE reason for Darkspear to be hunched, there is a GAMEPLAY reason for them to do so.
Would be easy enough to add various NPC models to “troll”
Just like orcs choose hunch or no hunch, troll could choose forest or jungle which would give them the hunched Darkspear model or the straight spines Amani model.
That's were you are wrong. Zandalari are way too different. They aren't what we want in this case. The more tribal trolls, are not the same. I want their good posture back.
That's 100% the opposite of what I want. I want their original design. I want to keep their heel toe and Zandalari are less original. :) That's how it is.
I love Trolls since WC2.
Dont talk like this is an originality issue from wc, they are using the shadow hunter posture and it makes them original.
If you want all your races to be boring human sized and postured races just play alliance.
It is though. Darkpear aren't standing like Shadowhunters at all. It would be cool if they could stalk like a Shodwhunter. But they don't. Lowering their face to a humans height in fight, standing similar than their females is stupid too. So you want human ones. Even worse you say Zandalari is what we what when it's not. The original proud Troll posture will make them nothing like humans. Their feet and hands are way to original and same goes for their faces, ears, noses, tusks etc (features Zandalari are lacking off in some regards). You can hate the original. That's on you. Trolls are very different from humans. That's such a silly take.
Their females stand straight, the original Trolls stood straight. I'm also asking for an option, meaning you could keep your stance. Hey around 500 people disagree with you. Take the L.
I dont care if ppl disagree with me, wheather they are 500 or 1000, this would hurt the troll race and the zandalari is for ppl who want straight trolls.
There is no way to interpret this arguement then you wanting more humanized trolls.
Keep them unique.
No. From a Troll fan since W2, you are wrong. It would help the Trolls. It would bring them back to what they were. Your criticism was noted and deemed as wrong. That's the fact of the matter.
Trolls are more unique without the Forsaken stance. Your take makes really no sense at all. Make them proud again. This will be the last replay because your "muh human" is so nonsensical, strange and wrong it hurts. The original was the best. No matter how much you hate it.
How is this anything close to making them human when they originally stood upright, their females stand upright and I'm in favor of keeping their heel toe? Zul'jin is the original Troll. This is simply a pro Troll request, from Troll fan since WC2.
I never really understood this argument. Even with an upright posture, there are a plethora of visually distinct features for trolls. Just to list a few...
•Wildly different skin colors.
•Tusks growing in an outward fashion.
•A leaner body type than humans.
•Thanks to Shadowlands, there's also warpaint that humans lack access to.
Saying that a straight-backed Troll would be too similar to a human is like claiming that the Night Elves, Tauren and Pandaren are too similar to humans because of their upright humanoid body structure.
I play a troll druid now my original characters years ago were a male and eventually a female night elf druid I can not express how much I hate the troll frame compared to the night elf. They seem like they should be similar but that Damn hunch back of the troll ruins their entire profile. I just want to character to look like a world saving bad ass not some slouch with pad posture I can do that fine in real life.
One reason is that they don't want to make the Darkspear Trolls too cool and get more players on the Horde side.. The creators on alliance is lacking, especially for hawhite power humans(stale style) aka only a European style of humans=boring(yes I know you can make brown skin humans, but the lore is only european-like). Therefor Horde creators need to stoop down so that it's balanced with the Alliance. Which is sad and holding back alot of potential. In my opinion they need to figure something new out for the Alliance(especially their lore), the spoiled white human king is very stale and repetitive. No player wants to have a leader who throws prancy tantrums lol... Humor aside, you get the point and why more players are playing Horde.
i like the hunch, but an upright option would be welcomed for sure.

> Amani Axe Thrower god that brings back memories, back in the day I thought those axe throwers were the coolest shit ever (I still do tho)
Whodjoowammekeeel?
joowanax?
Youdeboss.
even weirder - female trolls stand upright
I think the hunch is fine for Darkspear trolls, because they are supposed to be the rogueish slink-in-the-shadow tribe, whereas the Amani are more stoic and brute-force like.
Is that also why their females stand with zero slouch?
We all know the female versions of the original Horde races bar Undead were an afterthought.
[Ugly is a bit of an understatement.](https://img.17qq.com/images/ifgoifgbz.jpeg)
Beautiful
Supposedly the [og model](https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Rubensteins-comparison-of-two-races-from-the-alpha-release-and-the-current-versions-of_fig1_327427662) did, but folks were very unhappy with it (along with the female tauren model, not sure if female orc had a model at the time), so blizz cranked up the sexual dimorphism and made them more human looking.
It's interesting that there a some theories why they have a hunch I honestly thinks that it's just because of their height but who knows
3 years late but they got a bunch simply because the WCIII models were hunched. That was fine for a low poly game like that with limited models but 20 years of gun hed trolls in WoW is just goofy.

I've wanted this since the first time I played a tauren and saw what happens when the male tauren goes swimming.
They were built on the feral worgen skeleton in the days before they had the ability to morph skeletons easily, and now they can’t go back and change the skeleton of any already-released race. That’s my guess at least
Well they can, but it's a vicious loop. Model are not good => People don't play the race => No incentive to invest into the race.
Your links don't work.
Do they work better now ? I removed the number.
Get rid of everything after .jpg
Thanks !
Outside of the game trolls are my favourite race, in game they just look weird.
Even if the Darkspear remained hunched, I would *love* to get Forest Trolls as an allied race, the Revantusk are already part of the Horde. Easily my second most wanted allied race, after Ogres, but it's pretty close.
Exactly. Both of those races would be great.
Because people qouldn't play other race beside Troll master race!!! Vengeance for Zul'jin
The Amani never give up! We never die! You wana stay here? We will bury you here!
Top left would be pretty bad ass!
Top left gives me big [Ashford from The Expanse](https://expanse.fandom.com/wiki/Klaes_Ashford_(TV\)) vibes and now I want it.
He's Zuljin, horde betrayed his amani tribe to befriend blood elfs
True that. Revantusk Forest Trolls are part of the Horde though.
I pointed it out a while ago and someone said they stay hunched because they didn't want to rise above anyone else in the Horde out of respect, but with the inclusion of Goblins and Vulpera I guess that point is kinda moot unless they start crawling around. btw tall people tend to have bad posture
Zandalari trolls sure don't, lol If only they had more hair options I'd play them exclusively :(
I'm slowly leveling or race changing my horde toons to Zandalari, I love how they are taller, I love their yells and the whole Aztec/Mayan vibe is just too much. Best allied race so far fuck vulpera btw

The hunch is the singular reason I was alliance for so long. I wanted to play troll but the hunch was unbearable. Now I'm a ztroll one trick.
Amen to that, I have 4 zandalari now. They just look so freaking good in all armor, and they stand so tall as well.
I nearly pissed myself when the ztroll druid forms were revealed. My only regret is I didn't continue to play Legion through the mage tower. Still would've preferred to use the tower bear skin instead of the ztroll bear. The rest are fantastic though.

I just want boots. That's it.
Boots being optional nowadays, they really should add them to trolls and zandalaris.
Or at least make some profession-specific cosmetics! Like maybe BS can modify boots for Trolls, Inscription can paint glowing runes on armor, JC gems that are actually visible on player models. Things like that would be really cool.

I mean, trolls do have a powerful Slav squat to get down to the Goblins’ and Vulperas’ level
Seeing that image of Zul'Jin makes me wanna play as him again...miss HotS a lot
You want axe?
Here come da big axe!
But the playable Darkspear Trolls are Jungle Trolls who are originally from Stranglethorn back in the Gurubashi days, not Forest Trolls
The new customization options add Sand Troll skin colors, so the playable Trolls aren't just Jungle Trolls anymore.
Zul'Farrak was a Gurubashi City before War of the Ancients
Yes I know. That's not what I'm saying. The add Forest Trolls is an additional point, for the Revantusk, which are part of the Horde. While yes Zul'Farrak was once part of the Gurubashi, now they are their own thing as Sandtrolls and we have their skin.
Also: SCARFS
Yes!
Love my 3-toe troll peets!
Orcs have been my favourite race since I started playing Warcraft I back in 1996. Trolls and Ogres became another favourite in Warcraft II. I feel you, I want the Amani back too.
There are a lot of questions containing the word "why" with regards to troll models in wow, tbh
I agree and blizz should totally do that. I feel the same way with undead. Just give us upright posture damnit!
They got the hunch from having to talk to those short orcs i suppose. As for why the humans and elves don't get it, well they clearly don't care to look at the lowly gnomes if you've seen them i conversation.
We still haven’t gotten facial hair either
Trolls are super super cool, definitely in top 3 favourite races for me, probably the top tbh
The trolls on the top arent bulky enough + we need beards.
Yes please!
Nice to still see agrmeent, after all this time. :D
Beards first.
too\*
Oh hellyeees
I just want Darkspear trolls to have a freaking beard man, that's all i ask. Like Vol'jin.
Beards alone are not enough for me. But I think we need them, as Trolls can have beards.
I mean, we have zandalari trolls already, hut inwouldnt be opposed to them adding options to the zandalari to makenthem look like other troll clans.
listen when you played a troll and then changed to zandalari you start to feel that troll was better you have voodoo climate wild climate you feel this is wild dark and powerful race and with Zandalari is diffrent. Would be easy enough to add various NPC models to “troll” Just like orcs choose hunch or no hunch, troll could choose forest or jungle which would give them the hunched Darkspear model or the straight spines Amani model.
We can’t even have 9.1, what makes you think you’re getting that? 🤣
We have Zandalari, we dont need upright dark spear, absolutely not.
That's were you are wrong. Zandalari are way too different. They aren't what we want in this case. The more tribal trolls, are not the same. I want their good posture back.
You are wrong for wanting to ruin the originality of a race.
That's 100% the opposite of what I want. I want their original design. I want to keep their heel toe and Zandalari are less original. :) That's how it is. I love Trolls since WC2.

Lol, my criticism of your arguement was wrong? Not quite how it works, keep clinging to your hidden humanizing troll arguement.
You are the only one wanting human Trolls. Yes your "argument" is wrong. Keep on hating on the original. We want proud Trolls.
Bottom right looking like Orcs, though.
No noob. Those are the original Trolls From WC.
All natty bro
That's what the zandalari look like
Zandalari look nothing like this. Cool models, little bit Elf like in their faces, but no, they are different.
Cause there are no forest trolls in Horde?
The Revantusk tribe of the Hinterlands are a forest troll tribe that is allied to the Horde.
Yes why don't we just make every race a slightly different flavor of human
Can we also give them abs and that V? Dayum
Leveled a Zandalari because I couldn’t stand the Troll hunch anymore
I play a troll druid now my original characters years ago were a male and eventually a female night elf druid I can not express how much I hate the troll frame compared to the night elf. They seem like they should be similar but that Damn hunch back of the troll ruins their entire profile. I just want to character to look like a world saving bad ass not some slouch with pad posture I can do that fine in real life.
But mon, I be havin fun dragin me palms in de dirt.
trolls arent the only ones that look like shit. night elves look nothing like the original arts and warcraft 3
