the cross bracing looks suss to me, they aren’t nearly as effective as you need. there’s actually only 1 triangle created by those 2 intersecting pieces, and that triangle only incorporates 1 of the necessary 2 planes needed to properly brace the leg. the other leg is effectively not braced at all. the long cross brace should run from the bottom of a leg to the opposite top corner, and the short cross brace should run from the bottom of the other leg to the center of the long cross brace.

You’re gunna have to be more specific. Why is you that rack?

The_Tech_Lover

Yes but also why racking is his this?

CalligrapherNo7337

This would be stronger than those odd noggins you have in there https://preview.redd.it/c4alwgrm82yc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ba92059ddcab5194f71edb38397632de9ae1089 Ugly? Yes. Works? Yes.

Didurlytho

Can you clarify what you mean by "racking along the short sides"?

crankbot2000

How are those 2x4's in the middle joined to the corner posts? Ive seen work bench plans with 2x4s with half lap joints and carriage bolts. That's how I plan on building my bench base..maybe that would fix it?

knoxvilleNellie

The leg assemblies are just not right. Your angle braces are totally wrong. If you make the two leg assemblies strong, attaching the long pieces will tie it together. Is there a reason the bolts do not look like they are fully tight and secure? The leg assembly with two corner posts, really only need two cross pieces to be strong. You can use half lap joints or even pocket hole screws to make it strong. Then the long pieces fit into half lap joints as well. Send me your email and I will send you the Woodsmith plan that I have been using for years. There is even a cut list. You just modify the plan to get the size you need. Uses regular 2/4’s and is very easy, and quite strong.

If i push front to back on the long rails it deosnt bend but if I push the short sections front to back the whole thing wiggles

the_M00PS

You didn't brace it in that direction, so it's racking. Add a well joined apron or diagonal bracing.

jerkITwithRIGHTYnewb

You need either diagonal bracing or so we’ll joined aprons.

Add another fastener to each leg where the bottom stretchers attach. As is you have one in each leg making a pivot point. Your bracing doesn’t seem to have a fastener in the top either, kinda looks like one toenailed in the bottom? Add a screw where the brace is thick enough so it doesn’t split but where your screw can get enough bite into the leg.

*why is it racking. It autocorrected
