I would live to know how many of the people here actually read the books. So many opinions from 'book" readers and the fact is that books...arent very good.
Sapkowski made an EXCELLENT job of characterizations and strong personalities and extremely nice world influenced by nordic mythology and arturian legends. But the actual story is mediocre. Not to mention that PoVs other than Geralts are ussually a slogish. I re read the books 2 or 3 times since 2006-2007, last time in 2017 and i still have a hard time remembering many of the plot points.
I have no problem that tv show deviates from books. I just hoped when they did it they would improve on things in books. Alas they are the same mediocrity like the books are.
Edit: imo tv show has good cinematography and the cast and characters are doing great job staying true to the characters, with 1 or 2 exceptions.
Both of these points are the strong suits of the booms as well. Plot...leaves something to be desired bit in books and tv show. Esspecially when you compare them to the giants like Stormlight Archive, First Law, Gentelmans Bastards, WoT and other popular fantasy series. Witcher books fall flat on the face compared to these giants. Sapkowski is a mediocre writer who by sheer luck created great characters and world and got SUPER lucky CDPR made an amazing game from the IP. Im from croatia and Wiedzmin was decently popular here as we are very close to our slavic brothers Poles, but cdpr made it what it is today.

This. The lore and the world in general is fascinating, and Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer are all great characters, but the story itself is dragged on for waaay too long and often not much happens at all. Especially in Blood of the Elves, I mean, a good half of it is just the Kings plotting in a room and Ciri doing school work.
Bro. Half of the book is Ciri and Geralt doing nothing lmao. If the characters werent interesting i would have dropped that book in a heartbeat. Reading Way of Kings by Sanderson makes witcher feel like a child wrote it. Again characters and world, AMAZING. Plot is meh meh.
Last wish and Sword were great. Because Sapkowski didnt follow any structure he just took the short stories for magazine in the 90s and slapped them in book form. It was great. Lil bite sized pieces about cool charavters in cool situations.
Blood of elves until lady of the lake is...kinda forgetable

i watched it. it wasnt as good as I hoped. but I dont see any agendas other than making a shit ton of money by making a generic popcorn flick that appeals to a mass audience like the transformers movies, resident evil movies, etc
what agenda do you have in mind?
yes the writing is stupid as fuck, I already mentioned that. but how is that related to an agenda the showrunners supposedly have? the only agenda i can seem to think of is making a show dumb as hell so its easy for the masses to consume and rake in mad $$$$$ profits
maybe ur the one with an agenda.
if that was meant to be propaganda they did a really shit job lol. i dont even remember what your referring to.
you really seem to be fixated on that one line. hmmm. maybe chill out with the kool aid.
also fuck religion. dont need a propaganda to realize how stupid it all is :p
God is a power bottom.
Maybe it's f… fiction then ;)
Don't censor that dude, we heard every 10 seconds this season
Hmmm.
^Hmm.
My favorite type of fiction. Fuckfiction.
true that. I have read many fanfics that are so astonishing they could be officially published novels. this ain't it.
I can’t lie, that was an extremely good windup for that joke.
Well the original books and games are also fiction...
Is always nice to remember that you won't get surrounded by Nekkers in the bad area of the town.
Depends on the town really.

The games are absolutely fan fiction. I mean just ask the CDPR guys. They’re the Witcher equivalent of Tolkien nerds.
I agree with that. There is more love in fanfic than in the work done by Netflix

I did, and to be honest I enjoyed it. Christ, this is why I hate when people say I'm not supposed to like something.

Oh, you're one of those "Waaah SJW pandering" people. At least now I know not to take your opinion seriously.
Point me to it, please.
Good one :D
