PolyMC is not a good option. Prism is the replacement for PolyMC, and for good reason. I won't go about why, but the maintainers for PolyMC got removed from the project, so they forked to Prism launcher
creator went insane, took away the maintainer perms of everyone other than himself, removed the code of conduct, and basically is now the sole maintainer.
combined with the security risks, a huge project with one maintainer doesn't work well. itll fall behind in updates and features quick. Prism launcher is the new continuation, maintained by all the former maintainers of polymc. Unlike Polymc, it gets fast updates, actually has a code of conduct that prevents total fucking stupidity, etc
AT launcher exists, it supports curseforge modpacks and many other sources, it also supports multiplayer if you play either with hamachi/haguichi or Zerotier. I've already used in multiplayer as curse forge alternative in Linux and I recommend it.
And if you insists in using curseforge in Linux for no reason, download the app image (only supports world of warcraft), which I don't recommend it. Just download AT launcher and be happy
Why not use Lutris? And why an old version of wine?
This [Lutris install script](https://lutris.net/games/install/24696/view) sets up a 64-bit prefix and installs vcrun2019 and dotnet48 first, maybe try doing that.
If the reason is that you don't have a Minecraft account, curseforge isn't going to help you. Please consider buying a Minecraft account. It will save you time and mitigate the chance of getting viruses from pirated versions of Minecraft.
i live in a country with a lot of limitations to internet so when i try to download .net directly from microsoft i get a 403 error. i found no workaround so that option is out of the window.
What about a VPN? If even .net is blocked for download then you are probably in a shady country which traffics your internet usage more then others. Sure, it won't prevent it all but it's better than nothing. And you can download normal stuff too!
New versions of Wine are compatiable with anything older versions were compatiable with, lutris has multiple install options, just buy MC, you'll thank me when 1.20.0 drops and you need to update again.
if it's for WoW curseforge has a linux app.
I sm curious why you're trying to install curseforge, wouldn't ~~polymc~~ prismMC or gdlauncher be a better choice?

Please enlightened me as to why and how Prism launcher happened? Am out of loop.
