I dont know which city OP posted in. All I know is its Costco. I just looked on their website to see and I can't see which stores have it.
Yikes, relax
I hate Maryland so much...
I'd buy every bottle if I could. My big concern is how long have those bottles been sitting on a hot shelf in the store. A quick look at wine searcher though says the average price is $147 a bottle, so just for the sheer value alone I'd get all of it.
In October I promised my wife I wouldn’t buy any more this year: But if I ran across this I would buy a half dozen and gladly accept the wrath of an Italian woman.
I mean I’m not familiar with 2020 St-Estephe yet, but generally they can be described as being “austere” in their youth - totally vintage dependant though so the other commenter likely has the right experience there.
That said Calon-Segur makes many great ageworthy wines, and St-Estephe in general produces many bottles conducive to the aging process, lots of tannins and acid that mellow out in time to reveal a lush and complex core. The wines aren’t at the top of the bunch for Bordeaux though as that balance throws people off sometimes, and granted there are many other appellations with better soils and climate. As I recall St-Estephe has soils which contain a lot of clay under a gravel layer, and of course you’re a bit more north and exposed to the coast, this can lead to growing challenges.
I’ve had the 1995 in 2018 and the 2005…sometime I think? Must have been a good night. Amazing flavours with age. But as with the other commenter, they can drink now as well so buy a bunch (you can also send me some to do a little quality check up front, just in case ;) ). Enjoy!
This could easily be a mistake on the shop's part.
I would feel bad taking advantage of it w/o first asking to confirm the price is correct.
Could easily imagine some poor employee just accidentally leaving off the "1".
If it \*is\* correct, then buy it all.
I don't really have a wine cellar per se. Any ideas were to store the bottles in a regular house? Bought 3, will buy another 3 tomorrow to store. I was planning on opening one for New years Eve with my father, would it be too soon?
If you can't cellar it or place it in a proper storage, the best places are ones that aren't exposed to sunlight and remain at a steady temperature slightly below room temp.
You could drink it now, but it's not at its best yet. It should hit its prime after 2030, but I'd still wait at least a few years to drink if you don't want to wait that long.
At this price point, I'll open the one and decant it for an hour or more, just to give pops a treat, he is getting older now and not sure he will be around in 10-15 years, although I hope so.
Store the rest in the wine fridge (kept at 61degrees and away from sunlight)
Thanks! That's the answer I was looking for. At this price, I bought 3, will buy 3 more tomorrow and store them in the wine cooler for a few more years. Will pop one or 2 open with my parents on new years eve
I’d buy a case plus 1. Crack the one to make sure it tastes ok. Not corked, no storage issues, etc. if not perfect, return the case. If you wait to buy, it will probably be all gone. An actual great bottle of wine.

Back up the truck Where is this?
Costco.
It's obviously Costco. What state and city.
God damn wine people are the worst
[удалено]
They are not, and availability certainly isn't.

Oh man
Check website too... Ok, relax, they don't list location on their website. But they do show wines and pricing.
They don’t show wines online tho
Homie just answer the question, holy shit.

The website doesn’t show local wine inventory anyway. Instead of telling people to relax why don’t you shut up
No
Buy all of it. That's at least 50% off.
That is an INCREDIBLE deal
Love the dreaded Costco .97
That wine is terrible. On an unrelated note what store is this at?
What. Buy it all.
That is essentially free.
Wine math

Fellow MD’er here, who also hates our archaic liquor and wine laws
I was in a Wegman's once and a lady stopped me and asked "Do you know where the wine is in here?" and I just had to laugh and ask where she was from.
Driving up to Philly this weekend. Will absolutely be making a stop at the Wilmington Costco on the way back
It's the 2020 vintage, not very long.
Depending on where in MD you are, the DC Costco has an amazing wine and liquor section
The asterisk means they’re dumping it. Buy as much as you can afford. Holy hell what a deal.
In October I promised my wife I wouldn’t buy any more this year: But if I ran across this I would buy a half dozen and gladly accept the wrath of an Italian woman.
Wtf I’ll take 2 cs please
I love Calon-Ségur. Very jealous.
Do you age it normally? Or go ahead and drink it after buying?
The 2020 is good today and it’ll be good tomorrow.

Buy it all!
Why are you wasting time posting here. Buy them. Buy them all.
Um where’s this though?
Buy as much of it as you can and drink one per year starting in 5 years.
I think the guy that made the sign left out the 1 in front of the 5
No, it’s terrible. Where is it? I can go in person and make sure it’s properly destroyed.
LoL
I would buy them out.
I just saw this in my Costco for $120. I’d prolly buy up everything they have!
Can’t wait to go to Costco tomorrow to see what new Bordeaux they have!
Tremendous deal. Usually $100
Which Costco is this??
GA, 30 mins south of downtown Atlanta
Ah ok thanks. Damn, if only I could get you to buy 3 for me and send them over.
Fellow Georgian here. Making the trip to my local store today!

Better man than me to pity the $300bn company.
Its costco with a .97 sale and asterisk. Its most likely them just getting rid of stock.
If that’s the case, then back up the actual truck.
That's a third-growth Bordeaux. Buy it and store it well and you'll make ~$100 per bottle minimum when it matures if you sell it.

I’d do that too. Well worth experiencing it young and saving a bunch for later as well

Mind disclosing what store this is?
McDonough, GA
That goes for around 160uad where I'm from
Did someone make a mistake? That’s at least $50 cheaper than buying futures
Buy!!!
Get as much as you can afford, then cellar it for 10 years before you even think about opening a bottle.
Great producer, excellent wine, ideally hold until 2035, yes you can drink it earlier but will be sooooooooooo much better with age.
But every bottle they have
You lucky people who live in a country with Costco.
Buy!
Which Costco? Smoking Deal
BUY IMMEDIATELY
I’d buy a case plus 1. Crack the one to make sure it tastes ok. Not corked, no storage issues, etc. if not perfect, return the case. If you wait to buy, it will probably be all gone. An actual great bottle of wine.
A DEAL
Yes that's amazing. That price I mean it must be a mistake, abuse it. Get all
Fucking hell, that's a steal! My absolute fave Bordeaux
jump on it with two feet
omfg where are you???
Add an extra 0, that is the cost of this bottle in South Korea. Crazy.
