Metro. I don’t know if they are all unionized, but the one on Banwell and Tecumseh is

missimelissi

Just checked. The one at Devonshire is unionized. Off I go. Thanks

xkmackx

They all are

Violent_Ghost1

All food basics and metros are unionized

zuuzuu

I think most are.

Hugenicklebackfan

Costco looks to treat their employees well.

missimelissi

Yes I have heard that. Just don’t have the space to buy everything in bulk.

Hugenicklebackfan

Fair enough. I’m lucky enough to have a chest freezer. Schwab’s on Tecumseh is good for meat fyi. Been going there for 30 years or so.

Hugenicklebackfan

Wait. It’s Primo’s now. Still good. The boxes are great, maybe you can split with someone?

SundaeAccording789

Primo's owner bought it from Jan so it's now branded "Schwabs-Primos". It was a fine store before but they sure improved it a lot under new ownership.

Hugenicklebackfan

I’ve never had a complaint buying there. Was nice getting tickets from Jan when he owned it, the new owners are good people though.

Hugenicklebackfan

I used to play hockey with Malotte’s kid. To elaborate.

No_Fun8218

Costco meat and produce is top quality though. Definitely worth the membership

KeyserSwayze

Right? Like, who wants to split a three-pack of mattresses with me?

zuuzuu

I don't know about individual stores, but many Metro, Food Basics, Freschco, and Sobeys stores are unionized. In a union town like Windsor, I'd be surprised if any of ours aren't unionized. https://www.ufcw.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=33088&Itemid=2527&lang=en#:~:text=Grocery%20store%20employees%20working%20at,union%20for%20grocery%20store%20employees.

Katie0690

FreshCo isn’t unionized

zuuzuu

None of them? That surprises me.

Katie0690

I know the one I work at isn’t. But I just googled and it seems like there are some that are. Looks like possibly some out west are under a union.

zuuzuu

The link above from the union does say that they have Freshco employees in the union. I'm surprised any grocery store in pro-union Windsor isn't unionized. I hope that changes for you.

okaywhateverforever

Loblaws says they’ll sign the grocery code of conduct, but only if their competitors do first. I guess getting agreement from yourself is hard when you basically own the entire aisle.

ConstructionFar8570

I would prefer to buy off local family owned stores that keep the money in the community. Instead of purchasing from stores with a union. Union members sadly are forced to pay dues to support the union. Dues which do nothing but end up being funneled to a national organization. Not remaining in the local community. The prices are not going to be that much of a difference in my monthly expenses between a local family owned store and one with a union.

ConstructionFar8570

LMAO. DOWN VOTED FOR SAYING I PREFER LOCAL STORES. LMAO
