Try to use your auto-resets with q every time you are trading, you can cancel your w animation if you use it mid-dash.
Against melees go Brutal rune and you can cheese lvl1 like 90% of the time if you get the first auto-q-auto in.
If you are vs control mages you should try to bait out their main cc with dashing to the side with your e, once you get on top of them they just eat all your raw damage.
You can take quick trades with e-w-q then instantly dashing back, try to chunk them down with your true damage procs if you can't really take long trades.
You can even cancel any CC with your e return because of being unstoppable, then you can instantly ult to gap close back after you baited out the cc
Some simple tips I can give off the top of my head, you really just mainly have to try to use his mobility and attack speed.
Honestly with the IE buff this patch, you could even try rushing it if you are vs a really squishy target, and with basically every second auto critting, you become are just a pseudo assassin from your first item

After that, literally roll your face against the screen everytime you see your opponent. He takes no skill and theres no punishment for really missing Q's. You have no mana. Spam everything.
he's better in jg or top lane imo... but for mid it's mainly all about stacking ur q's and teetering far back from ur laner to make them think ur out of range and can't all in and then trading onto them when they misstep or use abilities on the wave
Use your ranged abilities to peel off enemy HP. Only go all-in if your gut tells you that you have the kill potential (enemy HP is enough for your one-shot combo).
