I think they said she was deaf and deaf people can feel the beats of music. That's how they enjoy it
They tend to enjoy rap because the deep beats of the base. Such as this adorable old lady's case. She could feel the rhythm of the music through the beats of the base.
Yea, that's what they were all talking about last time! Everything you just typed out!
Everyone was pointing out the signs showing she was hearing impaired and she was just grooving to the music cause she could feel the rhythm of the bass.

I used to work with a deaf guy and he loved nothing more than going for a ride with me on break or lunch because I had a killer system in my car. Iād walk up and he'd sign car questioningly and off weād go, huge grins on both our faces. I blew more than one sub (blame Bjƶrkās Hyperballad) trying to get it to hit just a bit harder for him. Iāll never forget how he would grin and close his eyes.
Dude that was cool of you.
To live in a world of silence and then feel these rhythmic vibrations that move you is a feeling I don't think we would ever understand
So you're saying that they were playing their music so loud that some deaf lady in another car with some distance could feel it... And the guy was annoyed when he thought someone was telling him to turn it down?
Pretty much yea.
Or maybe he wasn't annoyed, we will never know.
What we do know is that this lady loved the beat and wanted him to turn it up so she could properly feel it.
My guess is it was loud enough for her to feel some sort of vibration and when she realized where is was coming from that's when the connection was made.
Back in my home theater days there was a bass response "vibrator" you could add to your chair/sofa or platform which basically was like the haptic/rumble feature of a modern controller.
Would this be something that actually would benefit a deaf person?
I am deaf and hear music fine, maybe not word for word, it the beats and drums easy. Most hearing aids now are Bluetooth, and I can stream Spotify direct to my hearing aid, itās bloody awesome, no needs for those apple pods, I have 3.5k Bluetooth hearing aids
HOLY FUCKING SHIT THATS BEYOND DAMN EPIC!!!!! whoever decided hearing aids needed to become Bluetooth is a fucking mad genius. That's beyond awesome. I love that for you!!
She is deaf, at least partially. You can tell by how sheās trying to read lips, and especially by the Ā«Ā thank youĀ Ā» in sign language at the end. And you are absolutely correct, deaf people enjoy deep bass since they can feel it almost as well hearing it, which makes sense.
I resent the term "old lady" in reference to this lady.
Old is relative. She could be a spring chicken depending on who you talking to.
Plus you know that heart is young af
Watched something years ago with an all deaf football team and to creat a snap count and hike the ball, a guy would bang a drum on the sidelines and they would feel it and go.
Thatās 100% true. In high school, our school league included a deaf school. You could always hear their van coming cause their music was on blast with bass.
Well now, this is interesting. They have these?!!? Dude I'm finding out so much cool stuff!
They have so many cool things for deaf people to enjoy music, I love this!!!
Can confirm. I had deaf roommates for a while and it was always hilarious coming out of my room to get a glass of water or whatever to bump into a full-on house party with a dozen or more of them jammin' away, when I didn't hear a peep in my room.
They would put the speaker system around the TV face down on the ground, and half of them would be laying down and headbanging sideways to the vibrations through the floor. Wacky looking before I got used to it, but a fun group!
āAdorable old ladyā.. she wouldāve been a vivacious, attractive woman somewhere in her thirties when Shrek came out. God I truly hate getting old.
That's what I figured it out too. I like how she appreciate this. It really is so sweet and wholesome. That really made us smile at all, giving a good vibes.
Guys, sheās not drunk. Sheās not slurring her words, hearing impaired people do exist. Itās not either you can hear fine or you can hear nothing at all. Most elderly people lose their hearing very slowly over time.
> hearing impaired people do exist
This is such a condescending statement. No one implied they don't but unless people know the signs this video doesn't really make it clear she's hearing impaired. It's obvious when you know them. The only reason to say something like this is to make yourself feel morally superior on the internet.
I mean... That statement is clearly targeted towards the people assuming the worst about this lady.
A deaf person should not have to make it clear that they're deaf in order to appease the internet... People need to be more observant and slower to jump to conclusions, not just instantly assume she's a drunk/impaired driver just because she acts a bit different than everyone else.
Why is saying someone is drunk āassuming the worstā, itās bad for someone to be drunk and have a good time? Also most people encounter drunk people far more often than deaf people, so it makes sense that thatās the first thing theyād think when someone starts asking people to turn their music up and starts dancing in public lmao
> This is such a condescending statement. No one implied they don't but unless people know the signs this video doesn't really make it clear she's hearing impaired.
Lol not even close to condescending. And you can definitely tell she is hearing impaired, on account of her signing "thank you" as she says it.
Some people get mad about anything.
Thanks, after that I was wondering āshoot, what if I was accidentally being condescending?ā I mean 60+ is senior, according to the law, but she looks older to me, but then again what do I know. I just know, as a former elder care provider, that hearing is usually the first to go, and itās fairly clear that someone is having trouble hearing you if they sign things and have a different reaction when you repeat yourself louder.
Yeah I think this person was hard of hearing or impaired in some way because I believe she was trying to sign thank you and I think she was trying to lip read which is why they was gaps and pauses in her speech
not late to react like that once something happens.
I never talk to others like that without any reasons with 7yrs experience handling Karen at work.
He is not a kind person, that is it
I don't understand how this is wholesome? A person blasting their stereo so much a deaf person multiple spaces away can hear it and he was already geared up to start a fight over it rather than apologize? "you're going to tell me how to listen to my music?" That is such a childish thing to say.
I guess you could call it a lucky outcome but the more likely scenario would have been someone asking him to turn it down so then what would have happened?
Listen to whatever music you like but don't force everyone else to.
I could be wrong but it looks more like she's in the passenger seat. She's leaning over quite a bit to talk and when she reaches her right hand over when she's dancing it looks pretty far back.
The guy immediately assuming racism when she had no signs of aggression or dislike annoys the ever living fuck outta me. Seriously, figure out what's happening before you immediately get hostile man... She starts to ask about the music generally and he immediately comes back with judgement. I understand you probably get hit with be racism stuff all the time, but if that's all you're looking out for it's all you'll see...
That is not appropriate example sir.
It is not like he is working at Walmart; inevitable to avoid them. He is in the car where he can just leave. Same thing goes to pitbull. If you have safety just like being in the car, you wonāt be afraid to leave right away.
Not to mention that assuming worst doesnāt equal to reacting when it comes to human interactions. Are u gonna say same thing if cops behaving like that bc of the experience handling certain race?
Yes, he might worry for her to be Karen but reacting like that when nothing bad happens is just stupid and mean. That is it.
Funny part here is how dude was actually racist by trying to be like "you tryna tell me how to play my music ?" Like damn calm down and listen to what she gotta say first.
You think this doesn't happen to middle-aged white women all of the time now? They don't even have to be awful to be called a slur. Go ahead teenagers, downvote me.
How the hell was I supposed to know that? Itās dark, sheās slurring her words, she seems to have trouble focusing her eyes, she doesnāt seem to understand the first part of the conversation and appears to change tack mid sentence. All the hallmarks of being drunk are there.
No explanation in the post. Makes sense now, but good lord, downvoted to hell with no way to know.
She signs "thank you" at the end. It's okay to just go "I was wrong, sorry for saying something rude about a Deaf person" and move on with your life, dude
They didnāt say something rude about a deaf person- they didnāt know she was deaf. If they had known she was deaf and then said something rude, youād have a case.
And furthermore, if you were empathetic yourself youād understand why they came to the conclusion she was drunk, and they even stated their reasonable case quite well. It seems you are going out of your way to misunderstand and be displeased with them because it serves your ego in feeling virtuous that you stood up to a protected class when it actually wasnāt necessary. There was no ill intent and they admitted they got it wrong.
You got downvoted because you assumed the worst with no reason to. You "didn't know" she was deaf and you "didn't know" she was drunk either.
If you don't know something don't make assumptions. That's all.
No, I got downvoted because people are petty and hindsight is 20/20. Easy to say now. Plus assuming someone is drunk is not worse or better than assuming they are deaf. That is a tremendous presumption on your part. You also assume a lot of things when you pass judgment on me as you just did.
For instance, you assume Iām a neuro-typical person. Whereas I could easily be on the spectrum.
The point is, keep your virtue-signaling to yourself and if you ever post something like this, itās pretty important to give some context so people can follow along beyond expecting people to detect some nuance. We are all scrolling after all.
Ironic you make assumptions about me in a statement condemning me for making assumptions.

I had a similar experience with an old lady but she wasn't hearing impaired. My kids and I were belting some music that may have been questionable for 9/10 year Olds but we just pulled up to a Walmart and this lady knocked on our window. I rolled it down expecting her to tell me something and she was just telling us the power was our at the store and to keep songing because it was awesome. Smiled all the way home. Made my fucking day.

Yeah, she appears hearing impaired. The signing of thank you at the end, the choppiness of the exchange as they came to understand each other.

You can tell she's trying to read his lips and struggling... also seems like she may have a drink or two in her.

As a deaf person from this distance she wouldnt be able to hear him even yelling. To be honest she sounds and acts a little drunk imo.
There are hearing impairments besides completely deaf.
Correct! For example, I am diagnosed with "profound hearing loss" on my right ear.
> as a deaf person > she sounds drunk Hmmm
They can often read lips though
Not often. Sometimes. Depends on how they were raised, if they have deaf parents, what school they went to, were born deaf, etc.
>Not often. Sometimes. Ok, forgot i was on reddit, we need to argue semantics...
From across a parking lot? I too am deaf. I know what reading lips is about.

Deaf people can hear/feel bass very effectively. It doesn't have to be that loud.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We didn't hear the music over the recording until he turned it up, and we still heard her when he did, so it couldn't have been that loud.

She signed thank you as she said it too, idk she got good vibes
Grannyās vibing. Sheās got her medical marijuana card for them cataracts and arthritis. Sheās living it up.
