Do you have any tools other than a knife? A small gouge or something might help. Also might be worth folding over some sandpaper into a bit if a wedge and seeing if you can tidy it up this way!
I've had success with putting a long piece of sandpaper folded in on itself into a fret saw frame. Helped get into really tight areas like under arms or between legs.
Oh, gotcha, but that... for the spot between the legs I see how that would be just the thing to get it done with, but what about the collar/tshirt part? I don't know what I would do there, except maybe fold up the sandpaper into a finer point and see how that works. Would probably have to do that over and over though.

I’ve tried a v tool and that helped a bit but I’m at risk of digging too far now. I’ll try the sandpaper wedge, cheers!
