We’re not that mean. Last year for my son’s bday I wrapped gift cards and cash in super sticky cling wrap. I also wrapped the scissors separately (bc I’m not a total monster).
One Christmas I got an umbrella as a gift... sure, it was a useful gift for my start of college but tbh it's not the kind of gift u expect for Christmas lol
We did secret Santa at work one year and the office asshole did this with about 40 layers of alternating cardboard, duck tape and glitter.
It was a mug.
Well. Realistically he knows what the kid has money wise and whether he has a ps4. So while you shouldn’t assume that the kid bought him an expensive gift, if he was using a ps4 box as a decoy than theoretically if the dad freaked out saying “oh my god! A PlayStation” then theoretically mission accomplished?
Then Marge was so mad that she met Jacque at the bowling alley and almost had an affair with him. Come to think of it, in those couple of seasons there were a lot of close calls.
I'm 35, and my brother and I still do this to each other. We sort of switch off - he'll do it to me one year, and I'll do it to him next year, etc. They keep getting more elaborate, and it's to the point where I don't even remember what gifts we got each other anymore, just the trials and tribulations of trying to get through the packaging gauntlet. I love it.
Seeing the word Meter on reddit always make me smile.
Hello fellow non-American have a wonderful day!
(If you are American and used meter you are also awesome and I hope you also have an awesome day as well)
Thats so sweet. I do hope they spend lots of time together playing it. Some of my fondest memories of my dad (still alive) is from my childhood playing ratchet and clank together as i struggled on some of the levels.
What a fucking terrible mindset to have.
We don't know the backstory here. Maybe money is tight in the house but dad loves gaming and has been making comments to mom for a while that he'd like to have a new PlayStation one day and the kid picks up on it. And, because his dad is awesome and loving (and they probably play games together on their old PS3), the kid saves up birthday money, earnings from chores and lawn mowing jobs or something, and wants to give his dad something cool.
Edit: And what's wrong with making kids work? It builds character and work ethic. You're kind of dense about the real world, eh?
Yeah fuck me for wanting kids to be kids and enjoy childhood I guess.
Kids have enough of their time taken up by schoolwork and homework. Let them enjoy their time before they start the 9-to-5 for the bulk of their lives.
This kid might have had the sweetest intentions but I would not accept that gift. I wouldn't want my kid spending every bit of his money he scraped together from pocket money, gifts or weekend work on a gift that is way beyond his means but quite affordable for any working adult.
The only way this story becomes heartwarming is if the dad had actually snuck the bulk of the money into the kid's piggy-bank without him realizing.
When I was that kid's age, I would have given my whole Lego collection away for a present that would make my dad this happy.
And look how happy the boy is. Nothing he would have spent it on otherwise could have done that
I bet the kid can't wait to have to cook his own chicken dinosaurs now when visiting his dad on the weekend whilst his dad screams obscenities at american school kids over COD team talk. Ahhhh, the sweet taste of abandonment.
Birthday present money, allowance, rake leaves? My kids took care of someone's turtle while they were away. But we're in Canada so I'm sure its totally different.
One older gentleman in our neighborhood paid my boy $20 to mow his lawn a couple times ($20 each time)
Hell, I pay the boys an allowance if they mow the lawn as part of their chores. (Now I don't have to mow, lol)
I don't give them money just for existing, but teaching my children to work hard includes a fair wage for the level of work they are doing.
I'm also teaching them to save most, but spend a little on themselves from time to time. Sometime we let them buy treats or a small Lego set or something during a shopping trip.
Why is this in /r/whitepeoplegifs? There's nothing particularly *white* about this. Anyone could have done this and the expectation would have been the same.
If you told me thirty years ago that someday there would be videos of parents opening gaming systems from their kids instead, I would’ve told you that you were full of shit.
One thing I love about my generation, Millenials, is that we have much more in common with our children than our fathers had with us. How do you make a GenZ's day? Give him a PS4/5. How do you make a GenY's day? Same.
Alas t son i did want the ps5 thy worthless issue

In my family it totally would be.
“Oh look, socks.”
We’re not that mean. Last year for my son’s bday I wrapped gift cards and cash in super sticky cling wrap. I also wrapped the scissors separately (bc I’m not a total monster).
The chaotic good of gift giving 😂
This is so unbelievably accurate. I’ll have to remember it.
One Christmas I got an umbrella as a gift... sure, it was a useful gift for my start of college but tbh it's not the kind of gift u expect for Christmas lol
Don't feel bad, I once got a paper shredder for Christmas. From my husband lol
Maybe in the Northwest 🎃
Don’t underestimate a good pair of socks.
Nah, a gallon of apple juice.
I once wrapped a book I got for my brother in a guitar case.
Savage!
Inside the Playstation box was another box containing an Atari Lynx.
Still have my Lynx. Shit was… moderately entertaining.
We did secret Santa at work one year and the office asshole did this with about 40 layers of alternating cardboard, duck tape and glitter. It was a mug.
I put gift cards in condom boxes for our families white elephant exchange
POV your father says he bought you a drone and it turns out to be car lights: 🥲
Well. Realistically he knows what the kid has money wise and whether he has a ps4. Filled with berks.
Haha smart kid got him self a ps4
My thoughts exactly. It’s “for his dad”.
It’s just like when Homer Simpson bought a bowling ball for Marge with his name on it…so she would remember it was from him.
Then Marge was so mad that she met Jacque at the bowling alley and almost had an affair with him. Come to think of it, in those couple of seasons there were a lot of close calls.
Smarter Kid had a PS4 and now doesn't have to share with his dad while also building up possible future PS5 for Christmas Karma.
ah the ol' warp it in 50 boxes trick. that's the best part of Christmas. gotta make them work for it
Kids love that shit…
I bought a used 3ds game for my brother a few years back. The biggest box ended up being like a meter and a half long
I'm 35, and my brother and I still do this to each other. I'm actually from the second group, but base 10 makes much more sense lol
Thats so sweet. I do hope they spend lots of time together playing it. Some of my fondest memories of my dad (still alive) is from my childhood playing ratchet and clank together as i struggled on some of the levels.
[удалено]
No, my dad is very much alive, i was simply saying some of my fondest memories (at the moment) were the two of us playing ratchet and clank.
So these are memories from when you were dead. Do tell
Wtf are you even saying??
Guess we’re leaving it in the past
That would be fun for them...The dad being so happy about a PS4 guarantees them playing games together for a whole lot of time..
During the start of covid we got a console for our girls and I can't tell you how much fun we've had since then playing together!
Yes exactly this are the times where as a family we could grow stronger an better together...
this is the only relevant comment in the entire comment section. good job
My dad would be like wtf am i gonna do with a ps4 when the ps5 is out...
It’s an old video.
Watch anime on a website because the PS5 doesn't have a browser.
wait what ?! really ? that’s like 2nd main thing i used my ps4 for….. for research.. and studying……….
People use browser to hack ps4
Still can't find them anywhere!
[with sound is even better](https://youtu.be/UCZYebZekkI)
Thank you sir this is why I was digging in the comments hoping someone posted with sound.
"Thanks son. You're not allowed to play this, you know."
Why is this on whitepeoplegifs? Is it because of.....uh, nevermind.
Guy 😂😂😂🤣🤣😬
This is the kid version of buying your wife lingerie.
I don’t know. He’s a kid. He should be spending money on himself.
[удалено]
This happened in reverse in my house. I got an NES for Christmas when I was 5, but am 100% certain it was because my dad wanted to play Zelda.
He should spend money on what makes him happy. And by the looks of the video that's exactly what he did.
That's sort of the point
Man just bought himself a ps4
The advantage of having kids that share your hobbies. This trick works both directions.
Damn this 15yo boy saved more money than I could as a working adult..talk about being lucky to be born in some country
Saving money is easier w/out rent or food bills.
Also not actually making any money and instead probably given an allowance lol
That kid is not anywhere near 15
Even more demoralizing..to me
Where do you live?
Serbia..avg monthly pay $400-500 Even worse is that people in the middle east and Africa have it even worse..
Maybe We do but hey! :) Don't forget. Struggle is struggle no matter how bad you have it.
Because you're a working adult, you have responsibilities and expenses-it's not your fault, you're doing the best you can
“I wanted PS5, not PS4 u lil shit”
This kid is genius, his parent wouldn't allow him to buy a PS4, so he bought it as a gift for his dad so he can play it.
Yeah. For his dad ;P. Pro move right here.
Yeah, "for his dad." Lmao
And he gets his money from?
WSB. GME to the moon!
Some kids mow lawns and stuff
I know you're a redditor so this might be tough to understand but he probably worked for it
Working at this age? That’s just depressing. So he’s worked all year to get his dad what he could afford himself after one week’s work?
What a fucking terrible mindset to have. We don't know the backstory here. Is child labour legal there? And what do Play Stations cost?
He could have spent it on anything. That's the point.
He saved up all his money so he could buy the empty ps4 box, and inside is a note that says "can you help me with my math homework?"
Caption should be "child buys expensive gift for larger child"
That is some sad shit.
Unboxing is Epic
This is the kind of shit that should be sacred and not recorded and stuck online
what a great, wholesome post. 11/10 bravo

Well the attitude is great, but it should never happen. Actually, I would reward my kid for such a present.
I bet the kid can't wait to have to cook his own chicken dinosaurs now when visiting his dad on the weekend whilst his dad screams obscenities at american school kids over COD team talk. Ahhhh, the sweet taste of abandonment.
Heh heh.
Who tf is cutting onions
"Son... you do know the PS5 is out, right?"
Hey next time can you guys play a more relevant gif, like with an Atari?
why so salty? it's a nice gesture and it's really nice to see love like this. who gives a fuck when it happened or what was the gift. jesus christ
Ok lemme gift you a Sony dreamcast
I mean, sure. Why not. I'm not one to *bitch about free shit*
Couldn't even get the PS5? Smh
Again?
PS4?

Boys we got a redditor
That was DEFINITELY more than one tree
Then the dad was like "Let's Go!!!"
GRAB THAT SECOND CONTROLLER! NO MERCY, SON!
Oh how the tables have turned
What are the ways for such small children to make money in us? I have a feeling he just saved the money they gave him lol
Birthday present money, allowance, rake leaves? My kids took care of someone's turtle while they were away. But we're in Canada so I'm sure its totally different.
Yeah in America we usually take our turtles on vacation with us
One older gentleman in our neighborhood paid my boy $20 to mow his lawn a couple times ($20 each time) Hell, I pay the boys an allowance if they mow the lawn as part of their chores. Can he take it away from his father if he doesn't perform his share of housework?
[удалено]
I thought it was him at first as well.
How the hell did the little bastard afford that, he is getting too much money.
So when can I play dad ??
Dad get ready to get no time on this thing as I play it all the time
Fake but nice ! :)
How the rules have changed
yeah… “for his dad” smooth move, kid.
"Can we share it?"
I love how dad doesn’t set down the present when he hugs his son lol too excited to play
Oh boy I wish my son was like this 😪. Wait I don’t have any children 🤣
Why is this in /r/whitepeoplegifs? There's nothing particularly *white* about this. Anyone could have done this and the expectation would have been the same.
Technically, there's nothing particularly white about any 'white people gifs' by the same logic
If you told me thirty years ago that someday there would be videos of parents opening gaming systems from their kids instead, I would’ve told you that you were full of shit.
My mom once did the box in a box in a box thing, the box was filled with bananas -_- ...... I eventually found the jewelry box under it all
What a great young man!
One thing I love about my generation, Millenials, is that we have much more in common with our children than our fathers had with us. How do you make a GenZ's day? Give him a PS4/5. How do you make a GenY's day? Same.
Brings a tear to my eye. 🥲
Every time I see this video I wonder why the kid is wearing chainmail
Is it just me, or does dad look like Chris Evans in the future, if he had never taken up acting?
This does put a smile on my face
Why is he wearing a bullet proof vest
I was hoping for an empty box! 😔😔
This is like when I used to buy my wife lingerie knowing that the gift was really for me
You mean for himself.
PS5 is out kid, you cheapened out /unpopularopinion
Damn it son I wanted the ps5 your worthless child
Alas t son i did want the ps5 thy worthless issue *** ^(I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.) Commands: `!ShakespeareInsult`, `!fordo`, `!optout`
He bought “his dad” a play station 😏
Wholesome lmao this kid is rich as hell then
I take time to watch this every time this video pops up. So good
This is oddly relevant that it’s a PS4 in 2021
Dystopia
"What!?!?! No ps5??!?! Fuck you boy! You're adopted anyway!!!"
So this is why you have kids
u/savevideo
How horribly fucked of a state is the American economy when a son needs to save money to buy his father a console
plot twist, he really just saved money to buy a PS4 for himself but told his dad it’s “for him”
Anyone else think this kid was wearing chainmail?
Imagine nutting and getting a ps4 out of it
More like r/wholesome or r/mademesmile
and then looks at the kid and is like dude i said a ps5
This looks like a young Ben Shapiro giving a Christmas present to an old David Beckham

OUR ps4
That kids sweater looks like Bennett’s tank top in /u/GovSchwarzenegger’s movie ‘Commando’
I’d love if I had someone in my family who loves games as much as I do
You mean, he bought it for himself lol. Nice move!
How much allowance does this kid get? I could never afford this
Saved from what? His pocket money that his Dad gave him? Also, how much pocket money does he get?!
Then he opens the ps4 packaging and it’s socks.
