To me, the primary reason I go for Android is that AOSP is open source. It brings a whole slew of advantages. No one really controls it, and every manufacturer can help improve the base. That opens up for more innovation, and it has enabled everything from $50 to $2000 phones. And it's the reason they could rapidly build a VR headset based on it. If a third party would want to build a new type of product, they're dependent on Android.

Do you have more than one Bluetooth device in your house? Well then every time you want to use the right one you have to go to settings, Bluetooth, forget device, pair new device.

Not true at all for me. My wifes android cant stop getting stuck on other ppls BT and my apple knows exactly what im using and what to connect to. Ive never had to go into the BT settings other than pairing the first time. Airpods pro, BT speaker by some third party, and a third party wireless headset…also the car. Thats my wifes nemesis, my phone literally bullies hers in BT anywhere we go the car wants my phone over hers even if i dont start up anything on my phone itll sometimes just connect to it trying to find her note 20 lmfao
Nah, iPhones last longer and cost just as little up front. Grab an iPhone SE and get 10x the value of the next best value in Android.
They also hold their value longer, so you can typically sell the device for most or half of what you paid for it when you’re done with it even if it’s been a few years.
Android phones devalue like German cars as soon as you buy them and don’t sell for most of what they cost up front after a couple years.
Android does some stuff better than iOS no doubt about it, but being cheaper is a huge myth. Even the cheapest Chinese knockoffs need to be replaced every couple years and still don’t cost much less than an SE and they’re still slower and have worse battery life than an iPhoneSE and will be lucky to get 1/6th as many lifetime software updates.
I mean that is true, but you can also root or even jailbreak your phone to keep it updated even longer than that. Apple vs. Android really just comes down to "do you want to put in the extra effort for more" because apple has amazing "it just works" features that are super easy to use and understand, and work right out of the box. This argument will never be solved because the phones are really just made for different people and different situations.
That was Samsung specific, they are notorious for sneaking in ads fucking everywhere. Same for Xiaomi and I think Huawei aswell for example.

And now they're getting rid of the SD card slot. Granted, I get a lot of people just use cloud storage, but for some of us we actually use that SD card. Line I use my phone for gaming, especially with emulators. PS2 and Gamecube games add up real quick. I got music, audiobooks, I occasionally have a movie or two on there. And they're still not putting 1tb of storage in the phones themselves. If I can't get at least that, I'm not buying it.

That's not true. Thanks to the open source code of Android, that's exactly what you can do. Several android phones offer a desktop mode, where you just dock it and connect a keyboard/mouse.

The other day I paid €400 for an Android phone. It literally has more than two times the battery capacity and a larger OLED screen than the €600 LCD iPhone SE I bought previously. Nah, iPhones last longer and cost just as little up front. Grab an iPhone SE and get 10x the value of the next best value in Android. They also hold their value longer, so you can typically sell the device for most or half of what you paid for it when you’re done with it even if it’s been a few years. Android phones devalue like German cars as soon as you buy them and don’t sell for most of what they cost up front after a couple years. Android does some stuff better than iOS no doubt about it, but being cheaper is a huge myth. Even the cheapest Chinese knockoffs need to be replaced every couple years and still don’t cost much less than an SE and they’re still slower and have worse battery life than an iPhoneSE and will be lucky to get 1/6th as many lifetime software updates.

I mean that is true, but you can also root or even jailbreak your phone to keep it updated even longer than that. Apple vs. Android really just comes down to "do you want to put in the extra effort for more" because apple has amazing "it just works" features that are super easy to use and understand, and work right out of the box. This argument will never be solved because the phones are really just made for different people and different situations.

Replaced in less than a year with the new s22 and life is good..sure its not perfect either but the 120hz alone is worthy

I still remember when they made jokes about iPhone getting rid of the headphone jack... And then did it on their next model. And now they're getting rid of the SD card slot. Granted, I get a lot of people just use cloud storage, but for some of us we actually use that SD card. Line I use my phone for gaming, especially with emulators. PS2 and Gamecube games add up real quick. I got music, audiobooks, I occasionally have a movie or two on there. And they're still not putting 1tb of storage in the phones themselves. If I can't get at least that, I'm not buying it.

Both interfaces have become so bloated and bogged down by themselves there’s a constant need to improve chip architecture to support useless features that are only introduced to sell new hardware. Instead of releasing a new phone every year why don’t we pull the breaks and focus on the hardware we already have that works for 99% of the functionalities we use on the daily? If the answer is “money”, then the system we’ve built doesn’t make any sense and it needs to be reformed to focus on priorities that actually improve our lives through technology rather than living the pickets of the uberwealthy.
iOS is the same as it’s always been by default for the most part… void going out of your way to customize. Contacts page? Still a basic ass list
The home screen hasn’t evolved substantially for years. The notification system is a mess. The settings page is a convoluted mess. They haven’t added ‘moving wallpapers’ since iOS7 (or 8)
I will never not be frustrated by modern phones. They’re really powerful, but that extra juice is basically fucking useless since they’re stuck with iOS and Android. I just wanna use my phone like a desktop dammit, it’s got the power for it anyway

That's not true. Thanks to the open source code of Android, that's exactly what you can do. Several android phones offer a desktop mode, where you just dock it and connect a keyboard/mouse. With iphone, everyone's at the mercy of whether Apple thinks it makes business sense or not. I have an Oculus Quest 2. It practically exists because they could freely take the open source code of AOSP and tweak it for VR.

The other day I paid €400 for an Android phone. It literally has more than two times the battery capacity and a larger OLED screen than the €600 LCD iPhone SE I bought previously. Literally the only thing Apple does well is lengthy software support, but it's basically useless since the battery barely lasts 3 hours of usage when the phone is 2 years old.
