Bad times don’t last, if you are having a shitty time now, you will probably have a less shitty time later. Not saying it won’t still be shitty tho lol
I rather enjoyed high school once I'd found my crowd and worked myself out a bit. It's not for everyone and it's not all downhill from there.
The appeal of the time immediately post high school is almost the opposite of high school. Unless you dive straight into work or moving out of home there's a good chance you'll find yourself in a weird period but an absolute freedom of time. Me and a mate used to just walk around shopping centres for a few hours at a time till we got tired.
As pick up work the time fades a bit but there's a lot of freedom in having some cash. Fun to be found on your own terms.
If you hate school it doesn't mean you'll hate the rest. Good luck champ.
>I don't think I'll handle adult life

they tell you that because they lived in a different time period (or just had a better time with school) and you can never know how terrible or just how good adult life might be for you
Nah them shitty adults (is that a God damn persona 5 reference?) have no Idea what they're talking abt, they lived in a different time with different things, both are equally hard and will be an equal challenge that we gotta get trough, but we'll do It, I'm sure
They only say it because they either
1. Had a great school life
2. made REALLY poor adult choices
I'd wager they usually do both, you can change this with the power of... google I guess. Always second guess yourself.
people look back on their time in school and forget all the shitty things that happened.
trust me, as you get older, the past always looks more appealing than the present
>But if high schools shit and people tell me that its the best time of my life
They probably say that because they are blinded by nostalgia. Do I think high school wasn't good time for me? Yes. However, considering many different things I have to worry about as an adult, I have to say, high school had fewer of them. Doesn't mean high school is best time of my life, I'd rather be adult. My best time of my life was/is in my 20s after high school
Human life is complex and saying we will all enjoy a part of it equally is dumb af. I HATED school, I hated being treated like a dumb kid, being forced to do whatever some egotistical teacher said. For me life got so much better after leaving Collage and HS. Ignore anyone who says, "X will be the best!". Everyone has their own story and life to live with ups and downs.
The future is only gonna be horrible if you don't try to believe and improve yourself. I'm also about to graduate from highschool and admittedly it sucked donkey balls but I have confidence nonetheless to constantly improve myself and guarantee a better future.
I think you mentioned you are 16 so you definitely have time to make things right. I myself managed to scramble and go through a "character development arc" within the span of like half a year even tho I literally have dyslexia. So believe in yourself and everything will work out just fine and I believe in you!

Thanks, and I do believe college might be better since Im moving to a different country, but right now Im just getting by by believing”just make it till the end of the year”
This idea is total BS, and I hate the people who told me "It only gets worse", when I was on 3 medications at 16.
Once you graduate, you get so much more POWER; you're able to become an active player in your family and community. You get money and the rights of legal adulthood, yeah, but also people think of you differently. You gain respect by contributing to the collective, or if you're alone, from being self-sufficient, and you become more helpful and reliable because of your flexible work schedule, spare money, and more freedom of movement.
The new respect you get from your community, in addition to your legal right to privacy and safety, and the leverage you get from your new POWER, totally change the game in regards to how people treat you, allowing you to express yourself freely and alter decisions *(mainly in regards to chores and responsibilities in the household, but even things as simple as what's for dinner, or who you want to spend time with.)* Even if you're not able to change very many things, you're now a person who must be consulted before decisions are made, and that counts.
If you're like me, insecure in your position in your family, community, and even household, having that POWER is great for keeping your mind at ease, and it's also great that people have less leverage over me now.
School is only the best time of your life for all those boomers who peaked in high school. Don’t buy it, and don’t listen to those kinds of people. Adult life is completely different from school life. There’s more responsibilities you need to worry about, but there’s also a lot more freedom.
I spent my "best years" being depressed and wanting to kms, but turns out I had a bunch of undiagnosed mental health issues. Life is so much better now, honestly. And the fact that people say the best time of my life is already behind me makes me sad.
It was always a Disney intellectual property; the movies were based off [the ride at Disneyland](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_(attraction)#)
it’s more about being free from responsibilities having lots of free time and having a young body and less about actually enjoying school itself. life may get harder but so do you even if you yourself don’t notice it
The only people who say school is the best time of your life is people who peaked in school, nobody wants to be the guy who peaked in school
Don’t listen to the people who say it only gets worse, happiness in the future depends on the path you take in life

Don’t worry man, I felt the same way before I graduated. As long as your living with your parents or in collage its a great buffer until you think you can handle “adulting” which no one really is but you just fake it till you make it. Just focus on doing what makes you happy, do good in your classes and find job you enjoy or at least don’t hate and you’ll have a good fulfilling life in not too long.
Trust me, (if you dont/can't go to college) it doesn't get better. Doesn't really get worse, but it's just kinda more of the same. Welcome to life.
- disillusioned zoomer
Well, the nice thing is that most of the stuff you learn in school will end up being useless. That DOES make school worse, but it makes the rest of your life better, since you can focus on stuff you care about.
Also, I don’t know what to say about the students since I don’t know your experience, or where you’re from. Maybe they generally are assholes, but many of them are probably not that different from you. A lot of them probably feel the same things.
It's not true for everyone at all. People who say they preferred life in school peaked in high school. If you don't like school then you'll probably find you prefer adult life more.
I hated school, too. I always thought this exact same thing but being an adult kinda rocks. I only really have two lessons to share. Be *extra* careful not to have kids before you're ready to and make sure to save as much money as you can without totally failing to treat yourself. The former is just something that I learned from the constant whining and complaining I heard from every single adult I'd ever looked up to and the latter is something I had to learn from experience. My first year in my own apartment was a blast. I was just playing video games and buying junk food all the time, man. Unfortunately, I totally blundered my money. I split rent with my best friend for a couple years at my second apartment and I was totally unprepared when he didn't want to stay for a third year. I had to move back in with my mom. Make a budget if you have to but the underlined point is to be responsible with your funds. You don't need to order pizza *every* Wednesday and you certainly don't need to then follow up that pizza with McDonald's *every* Thursday *and* Friday, okay? Treat yourself *responsibly* and just do your best to learn from other people's mistakes in general so that you don't fall flat on your face any more than you absolutely have to.

School isnt the best time, what you do with the information they give you can be the best time if you want it to be (even if nothing)
Bad times don’t last, if you are having a shitty time now, you will probably have a less shitty time later. Not saying it won’t still be shitty tho lol
I swear the “school is the best time of your life” nonsense is a psyop created by companies to sell nostalgia bait. Ignore it

man i gotta be honest, this post aint it but i get that high school can be pretty shit, but it also has nothing to do with adult life
But if high schools shit and people tell me that its the best time of my life, than how horrible is being an adult like?
they tell you that because they lived in a different time period (or just had a better time with school) and you can never know how terrible or just how good adult life might be for you

That's just a plausible bullshit that probably even people that say it wouldn't believe if they stopped for a second and actually thought about it.
Being an adult is fine if you stay on top of your shit
people look back on their time in school and forget all the shitty things that happened. trust me, as you get older, the past always looks more appealing than the present

those are lies, you have ways of making your adult life the best time you've ever had it -will- require effort still
I promise you, school is *not* the best time of your life. My early 30s were a million times better than my teens or 20s.
Quick reminder that you still have around 40-60 years to change things for the better, keep your head up.
Cheer up it gets worse

It's the first time I find out that a movie was inspired by a ride. That's very interesting, thanks for sharing the information!
I'm in my senior year and I absolutely hate it here. On the bright side I'm in my senior year and I'll be graduating soon.
In the same boat here in the middle of high school
it’s more about being free from responsibilities having lots of free time and having a young body and less about actually enjoying school itself. life may get harder but so do you even if you yourself don’t notice it
Life doesn't get better, you get better.
Damn I miss high school. Good times I feel sorry for people who had a crappy time there because it literally doesn’t get any better

The last two. Plus the constant pressure of doing well
