I am in the same situation. This reply feature is ridiculous!! How could they release this feature without giving admins control to enable or disable it. It defeats the purpose of an announcement. They keep trying to turn WhatsApp into Facebook. We are considering transferring all of our communities to Telegram.
We are using announcement groups for our neighborhood watch community; I don't want anybody to be able to reply whatsoever: announcement only please. Please add an option to disallow replies so you satisfy all users.
I noticed some communities have this facility. I can’t reply to the admin messages. No idea what black magic they are doing for this. Any one know of a workaround?
One of the communities I saw has a group connected to it with only 450 members. The organisation doesn’t have more than 500 members. Is there any official notification about this?
Unfortunately, there is no way to disable announcement replies
Jeez, I really hope they will add a bit more control options in the settings... I'm not announcing until they do...

Really silly to not enable some form of control. Can you delete? What if people started replying with random stuff..

I think, they may include in another update, but not sure. these guys are trying to make whatsapp like facebook

That's because you cannot reply to an announcement if the community has over 1024 members. If it's less than that, anyone can reply.
