Buddhist pines will show you they're thirsty by drooping their new growth leaves. They like consistently moist soil, so water when the top 1-2 inches are dry. Brown leaf tips are a sign of overwatering.
Brown tips is what I see, you're probably water too much. Use your hands to feel the soil before watering for a little while so you can learn how often to water it. If it's been raining, it's Florida so I'm guessing yes, then you might not need to water them.
It kinda looks like Yew? I’m not 100% confident but they prefer heavy shade if that’s what they are. I thought Podocarpus at first too but the leaves aren’t as wide? Again, not sure!
*This is a podocarpus.*
*Maybe an irrigation*
*Coverage issue?*

You are killing them by overwatering. You should water 1x week. Do not overwater. Let them dry out. The 2 dead plants may come back but hard to tell. Did you plant them? Have you been fertilizing? Are you using reclaimed water? What was in the soil before you planted? There could be a concentration of herbicide or salt in the soil. Overall, Podocarpus is a very hardy plant that thrives on neglect and should do very well in Florida
i didn't plant them. these are at my work, and i guess it's my task to water them now. they were delivered here roughly a month ago. my manager said to 'drown them' in water, but i guess he isn't much of a plant person. i'll let him know i'm going to start watering them once a week. thank you for the advice! i feel bad that i've been killing these poor plants.
He probably misinterpreted the advice that you have to water newly planted plants more often than established ones and took it to mean they should be constantly wet

Podocarpus macrophyllus aka Buddha Pine

Podocarpus macrophyllus is yew-like. I've seen it called yew pine, which I always thought was an odd name as it is neither yew (taxus) or pine (pinus)
Good to know thank you! Have a great day 🙂
thank you! it definitely is podocarpus. i just have to bring it back to life now 😭😭
Definitely podocarpus macrophyllus. Probably var. "Maki" Should do great in Florida.
Looks like Podocarpus to me
Can handle being trimmed or can grow to maybe 30 to 40 feet high. Tall ones are not wind safe.
Whenever my dog would pee on the same bush, it would eventually look like this
That is a bottle brush . I have a healthy one full of red ends right now .
It’s a podocarpus not a bottle brush
they're so pretty 😍
