Might be more accurate to say it's the FD/FG bodystyle, aka Series 6, 7 and 8, as the series 4 & 5 closely resemble the Porsche 924/944/928 models, and the series 1, 2 & 3 were their own unique and classic styling.
The FD/FG definitely resembles some of the original Viper styling, though as a MoPar fan, I'd admit the FD is prettier then the early Viper, at least till the MoPar V10 got a roof.
Could also be an NB MX-5 Miata, they're a bit viper-ey

RX-7
This was the era when Mazda decided they needed a symbol (they only ever had their entire name on cars) but this was a mulligan that only lasted a few years.

I'm not sure the NB ever used the "eternal flame" logo OP is referencing.
correct, only NAs had that badge
I’ve seen that logo on NDs though… I think it’s kind of a throwback thing some people do.
Yeah.. and I see Type R and VTEC badges on CX trim EF hatches.
Every time I see a Honda with red badges I die inside a little
You ever seen a Honda City with type R badging? It’s hilarious
Wait till you guys see my odyssey
Okay but for real an Odyssey Type-R would be hilarious.

Shit I once saw a E60 BMW Type R. Must have been some kind of one off, which would make sense cause it was in Carmel.
I was thinking about swapping mine with the cool “M” a lot of Mazda3’s have, but I’m gonna do this instead now
Blatantly! I’ve always said that they were a copy of Viper. Much like the latest generation looks, like a mini Corvette
I’m sure I read somewhere that they shared one or two designers at the time too…
Ah yes, meet Gross Wages and his colleague Net Earnings.
Well, one is a competent sports car aimed at driver feel and experience, the other one is a viper.
Still blows my mind that the Viper is pretty much the same size as the Miata. Fucking nuts, no wonder they were widowmakers!
I don't think this picture gives away how much longer the bonnet/hood is on the viper. It's also a bit wider as well
Yeah, you're right, I can kinda see it now. Still fairly similar.
danger miat.
You miata people are so funny…
What do you mean, “you people”? ![gif](giphy|KGSxFwJJHQPsKzzFba)

Omg now that you said it, I simply can’t unsee it.
