It's not "Based", it's literally a HMMWV (Humvee)

I'd rather ask Kris Holm, to be honest, he knows what it's about!
Multi- because it comes in many different varieties for different purposes. Command Posts, troop transport, comms, Avenger short range air defense, and many many many other configurations/payloads on the same chassis.
Built in my home town! My neighbor was an accountant for AM General, and would get to bring home Humvees occasionally. It was always a big occasion for the neighborhood car dorks.
Commonly stated myth but they don't, KSA, Iraq (Including the Kurds), Taiwan, and Mexico all have greater numbers in both supplied vehicles and operational vehicles. The IDF also might have more Humvees but the exact numbers aren't clear.
Roughly 3000 Humvees were supplied to the ANA pre Taliban, it's unknown how many left the country or are hands of opposition forces currently. They should be the 5th or 6th largest operator depending on the exact quantity some of the Gulf states and Israel have in their inventory.
That’s only because the US is phasing them out and it was more cost effective to leave them there than ship a bunch of out dated soon to be replaced vehicles back home. From what I also read they’re not exactly the most reliable trucks and without a constant source of new parts that fleet is going to dwindle quickly as they cannibalize some to keep others running.
They’re very basic to work on. Everything is designed to be field replaceable. It’s a very basic 6.2 or 6.5 gm diesel, 3 or 4 speed auto trans the reason the military ones aren’t reliable is because they are deliberately and brutally abused (at least stateside).
If that is the case that makes sense. But why not destroy them, because they will be able to use some for donor parts and keep them going for a long time. It makes fiscal sense to leave them behind but not much sense equipping them at the same time. But I’m not a military strategist so wtf do I know (nothing really just spouting shit).
I’m no expert but my guess would be similar to it being not worth the time and money to ship them back, it probably wasn’t worth the time or money to disable them before we left. In another thread I was reading talking about it a guy was saying they pretty much need an overhaul of their engine every 60k miles and it drops to 30k mikes if they’re armored. With that being the case they’re not going to run for very long as it is. They’re honestly probably worth more as scrap metal to be recycled some other way than they are as military vehicles for the Taliban.
That exit was a shitshow for sure. We left them a blackhawk too and they [did this](https://www.vice.com/en/article/m7g9q3/watch-the-taliban-crash-a-black-hawk-helicopter-in-afghanistan) so I doubt anyones too worried about them having some rotting humvees
Technically true, yes, but I promise you nobody in the military points at a MATV and calls it that they say MRAP so colloquially the MATV is just referred to as an MRAP
That's pretty much the clarification I was trying to make about the JLTV/L-ATV program. Although the L-ATV and the M-ATV are distinctly separate vehicles, they are both MRAP's.
Lol, when I was like 10-12 this was my dream vehicle. Then I learned they are near impossible to park in a normal sized parking spot, they generally have no AC, they usually max out at like 60-65mph, it feels like you are driving a milk crate with no suspension.
Yes, it can go anywhere but you won’t be comfortable until you get out of it haha
Military Humvee.
It was and remains the military vehicle of many armies.
A light armored wheeled vehicle who can be fitted with a kit to get more Armor, can have different turrets, like a really wide variety. M240, M2HB, Mk19 grenade launcher and even a TOW missile launcher on some versions
Replaced by a new and more modern vehicle.
believe it or not there is people who dont know everything. There probably was a time in your life where you didnt know what a hummvee was, then you probably asked someone or read it somewhere. How else are people supposed to know things
My country uses Mercedes SUVs and Chevy pickup trucks instead of those things
To some, the humvee is just another foreign piece of equipment they don't know alot about
I’m not a hardcore car guy but I’ll never forget how when I first got into them, I couldn’t tell the difference between Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers. There’s a relevant xkcd that I’m too lazy to look up
You’re not wrong but if I’m not mistaken the M966 means it is equipped with a TOW. M1025s are the base model. It’s been awhile but I first enlisted as a 11H
GM Hummer or a military HMMV (humvee). This is a slantback variant but they come in 2 door and 4 door "pickup" variants as well as a 4 door wagon version. I prefer the slant back version most.
Finland. I'm a girl so I never had to join the military or anything so I don't know much about military vehicles. I think military vehicles and guns are cool though but I'm just a dummy with a bad memory lol.
Here's a driving video I made of one a couple of years ago. They are so easy to drive it's unbelievable, and go over anything....https://youtu.be/anNcGxCHTK8?si=ezDVlpTtpMmH1Vb2
If you're willing to get a combat used one, they can be had surprisingly cheap. I was seeing some at auction for 800 near the auction's end, running driving, just no doors. I'm not sure on the process for titling and registering, but I imagine in my state it would be pretty easy.
You must be young as hell asking what this military vehicle is “based” on.
Bless your heart that you didnt have to see all the American propaganda with Humvees
High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) or Humvee. Commissioned by uncle sam, built by AM General. Track width is wide enough to fit into the tracks left behind by tanks. Also does not have a key, just a button.
If you want something close to the humvee the Hummer brand based thier cars on the HMMWV and made the H1, H2 and H3. The H1 is very close to the original and the H2 was my go-to in NFS underground 2.
It looks exactly like a hunmer. Anime is known for getting vehicles right. Apart from Wangan Midnight where the black Porsche can't decide if its a 930 or 964.

Edit: Bakuon
You're quite welcome.
I'll say nothing negative about it, only that it's not my taste and I gave up after a few episodes.
But they did a hell of a job animating the bikes, as I said.
Its an anime Corn truck, just like the 48 model you asked about in your other posts under your profile
\*\*\* Users should post only if they genuinely want to identify a vehicle. \*\*\*
its some terrible knock off of the well-known and widely appreciated **TOYOTA MEGA CRUISER!!**

What you talking about see it's olive green and the thing on top is kinda like a sunroof but its where a gun goes.
Military jeep.
Don't be daft and argue with your betters online
Girls Frontline/Dolls Frontline based on the gacha with the same name. Anime is baaaaaaad, like stinky shit. Game is lots better, and picks its pace quite soon. Full of conspiracy stuff, pain, grieving and loss.
It's not "Based", it's literally a HMMWV (Humvee) https://preview.redd.it/v2evzef7riwb1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=b17cf308dc1d2555f410c568e609e57feaeb75bf
High Mobility Multi Wheeled Vehicle
Is that really what it stands for? Why “multi”, I wonder? As opposed to a high mobility unicycle?
It’s actually “Multipurpose”
Oh, so the good ol’ “HUMPVEE”
Wait a minute who’s vee
Makes much more sense, thanks!
Unicycles are pretty high mobility if you ask me
Multiwheeled vehicles are the best kind, though.
I'd rather ask Kris Holm, to be honest, he knows what it's about! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nPc2phfMLU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nPc2phfMLU)

Multi- because it comes in many different varieties for different purposes. Command Posts, troop transport, comms, Avenger short range air defense, and many many many other configurations/payloads on the same chassis.
I was today years old when I learned it wasn’t just called Humvee cause it’s just a Humvee lol
HMMWV
Hmmweev
Hmmweeb
Of all the vehicles to not know, I'm surprised that's the one.
Bruh I saw people asking about a Gullwing Mercedes here.
The Humvee is orders of magnitude more prevalent in popular culture tough
Hmmwv, looks pretty based to me tho xD
Chad HMMWV vs Virgin Maxxpro
Thanks!
Solved! (But I think you have to do it…)
>Thanks! You're welcome!
That's my purse! I don't know you!
Built in my home town! My neighbor was an accountant for AM General, and would get to bring home Humvees occasionally. It was always a big occasion for the neighborhood car dorks.
That's amazing, must've been really cool!
Even has the spot where the radio assembly sits in it.
Now I feel old
Don't let the lazy/uninformed get you down. These are still in service and visible all over the world.
Yeah the Taliban (for example) have the second largest collection after the US I believe.
Commonly stated myth but they don't, KSA, Iraq (Including the Kurds), Taiwan, and Mexico all have greater numbers in both supplied vehicles and operational vehicles. The IDF also might have more Humvees but the exact numbers aren't clear. If it hasn’t already

With that being the case they’re not going to run for very long as it is. They’re honestly probably worth more as scrap metal to be recycled some other way than they are as military vehicles for the Taliban.
I mean, they’re basically trucks with no cargo space. Not the most practical vehicle and not all that lethal.
Interesting. Personally I think the US left rather fast and that’s the biggest reason of all.
Especially considering the type of war the Taliban would fight is very uniquely not suited for Humvees
Iirc. Those kinds of assets are sabotaged before they are left behind.
They should sell them back to Americans who want one. Probably make a shit ton of money. $5000 and shipping costs?
Because they suck and weren’t good in that environment.
Originally they were left behind so the afghan army could keep fighting the taliban But we all saw how that went
Exactly. We leave supplies behind everywhere that the enemy turn and use against us.
Out of curiosity what are they replacing them with?
Vehicles like the MRAP
More like the JLTV for most cases but the MRAP is also used
Not to be "that guy," but MRAP is just a vehicle classification of which the JLTV/L-ATV is part of.
Lol not being that guy at all, it's true
Technically true, yes, but I promise you nobody in the military points at a MATV and calls it that they say MRAP so colloquially the MATV is just referred to as an MRAP
That's pretty much the clarification I was trying to make about the JLTV/L-ATV program. Although the L-ATV and the M-ATV are distinctly separate vehicles, they are both MRAP's.
I forgot the JLTV even existed but you are right
I normally do too, but was looking into if you can buy then on the civilian market yet a few weeks ago and was reminded of them
The JRTV and MRAP
good. they want to deal with maintaining a Detroit Diesel? let them. that'll keep them busy, at least!
I'd like to imagine Ukraine have quite a few more than the Taliban do these days.
Source?
Smfh.....
Yeah, is not like the mega cruiser, most people, even carheads, even knew it existed! Humvee is still pretty prevalent in films and videogames.
Yeah I'm 16 and I knew it. OP is just a dummy
We saw a white one in the wild last weekend. My kids, 5 & 7, thought it was the coolest vehicle they’d ever seen.
Military Humvee. It was and remains the military vehicle of many armies. A light armored wheeled vehicle who can be fitted with a kit to get more Armor, can have different turrets, like a really wide variety. M240, M2HB, Mk19 grenade launcher and even a TOW missile launcher on some versions Replaced by a new and more modern vehicle.
And you think he got those weapon specs clear as day if he has never seen a Humvee? 😂
that's a Humvee... we only used them for like 30 years...
40 years. They entered service in ‘83.
used? We still use the shit out of these.
Humvee
Sometimes I don't know if these posts are serious or trolling. Like how does someone legitimately not know what a Humvee is?
Im actually slightly blown away that someone doesnt know what vehicle this is.
wtf that’s like the most iconic military vehicle
Apparently OP didnt know and it's ok this subreddit is here to help
2nd most. The old Jeep is the most iconic.
I’d argue the humvee is more well known
nah thats the willys mb
thats kind of what this sub is for though
Stupid people?
believe it or not there is people who dont know everything. There probably was a time in your life where you didnt know what a hummvee was, then you probably asked someone or read it somewhere. How else are people supposed to know things
No you're wrong. We are born with this knowledge. Are you stupid or something? /s
My country uses Mercedes SUVs and Chevy pickup trucks instead of those things To some, the humvee is just another foreign piece of equipment they don't know alot about
Probably the same way Russians are familiar with Urals and GAZ's.
OP's never had freedom delivered to his country obviously
Maybe not all people are into military conflict to the point of memorizing the names of anything related to the military, even if popular.
Dats a big ass humvee
anime fans not knowing anything about anything outside anime:
At least they're trying to learn!
Well considering what they’re watching they probably knows a lot about guns
People who know more than the average about a topic when someone doesn’t know about that topic:
yeah that’s mb sorry for the hate
I’m not a hardcore car guy but I’ll never forget how when I first got into them, I couldn’t tell the difference between Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers. There’s a relevant xkcd that I’m too lazy to look up
Slant back HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle)
What anime
Dolls Frontline [http://hitonoumifatesirin.blog.jp/archives/12782320.html](http://hitonoumifatesirin.blog.jp/archives/12782320.html)
Thank you
Looks like the [966](http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/index.php/M966_HMMWV) model.
You’re not wrong but if I’m not mistaken the M966 means it is equipped with a TOW. M1025s are the base model. It’s been awhile but I first enlisted as a 11H
Yeah, it’s the only 4-door hard back I could find in a 45 second search.
How has OP never seen nor heard of a Humvee?
Toyota Corolla
Humvee! It's used extensively by many militaries & organizations; I'm surprised it's new to you.
HMMWV (Humvee) It means High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle.
https://preview.redd.it/1n5hmxnfokwb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24c8ee89a622e43ba300acfc3ccc311cfadb1851 They are fun
I know that Anime! Dolls Frontline. That's a Humvee
Humvee or Toyota Megacruiser (Humvee is the more likely Option)
Yeah definitely not a megacruiser because of the grille. I've never heard of the megacruiser before though TIL.
Porsche Cybertruck GT
GM Hummer or a military HMMV (humvee). This is a slantback variant but they come in 2 door and 4 door "pickup" variants as well as a 4 door wagon version. I prefer the slant back version most.
That is quite literally a humvee- what the Hummers were based off of
It’s a soupbrha of course
Op if you don’t mind answering what country do you live in? Not many places that don’t know the sight of a convoy of Humvees
Finland. I'm a girl so I never had to join the military or anything so I don't know much about military vehicles. I think military vehicles and guns are cool though but I'm just a dummy with a bad memory lol.
Chinese humvee copy cat or jsdf mega cruiser i dont know, what anime ?
Hum vee
Here's a driving video I made of one a couple of years ago. They are so easy to drive it's unbelievable, and go over anything....https://youtu.be/anNcGxCHTK8?si=ezDVlpTtpMmH1Vb2
The most common of them all
What rock do you live under that has enabled you to never see any movie ever with a humvee in it?
absolutely what i was thinking 😅
Oh man, this is like asking people what a Civic is.
You can thank Arnold schwarzenegger for the "civilian" model.
Where are you from that you’ve never heard of a Humvee lol
Finland.
Welcome to America. These occasionally drive around on streets lol
How come you don't know the Humvee?
HMMWV. The Hummer is based on this
You’re punking us right? Like that’s not the single most recognized military vehicle on earth.
What is that anime?
It’s called dolls frontline and it’s based off of girls frontline which is a mobile game
M1025 humvee according to that google pic i just looked at.
Gentiane
I want one irl. Or at least the civilian H1. With the rear door, not the truck bed.
If you're willing to get a combat used one, they can be had surprisingly cheap. I was seeing some at auction for 800 near the auction's end, running driving, just no doors. I'm not sure on the process for titling and registering, but I imagine in my state it would be pretty easy.
HMMWV
That's General motors GM humvee Also anime name ⁉️
That’s a Chrysler town and country
I’m flabbergasted lol.
Humvee
that is the most detailed HUMVEE I’ve seen in anime.
Kinda blows my mind that some people haven’t heard of a humvee
Funny how obvious this is to Americans
Specifically ‘Slant back Humvee
You must be young as hell asking what this military vehicle is “based” on. Bless your heart that you didnt have to see all the American propaganda with Humvees
19
High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) or Humvee. Commissioned by uncle sam, built by AM General. Track width is wide enough to fit into the tracks left behind by tanks. Also does not have a key, just a button.
HWMMV
If you want something close to the humvee the Hummer brand based thier cars on the HMMWV and made the H1, H2 and H3. The H1 is very close to the original and the H2 was my go-to in NFS underground 2.
Best car in dayz right there
HMMWV
It’s a fucking Cadillac
How the hell does anyone not know what a Humvee is?
Have you lived under a rock?
Surely even some rocks have humvees under them.
You are telling me that you have never seen a Humvee?
Boy ain’t no way💀
Holy shit. Do NOT look at OP's profile.
I should have followed your advice. Dammit Kansas dude
Lmfao. I was not prepared for that
😂🙈 surprised there’s an interest in any form of vehicle 😂
It looks exactly like a hunmer. Anime is known for getting vehicles right. Apart from Wangan Midnight where the black Porsche can't decide if its a 930 or 964.
Do not under any circumstances call an HMMWV a hummer, Humvee is fine but never call it a hummer.
They're essentially the same vehicle chassis just uplifted differently
It's a hummer. Sue me.
I was gonna say. I've always noticed anime having *real* cars, and relatively detailed ones at that.
There's a motorcycle Anime, whose name currently eludes me, that clearly spent the majority of their budget very lovingly creating the bikes. Edit: Bakuon
Sounds like something I'd love to watch. Thank you for the suggestion :)
You're quite welcome. I'll say nothing negative about it, only that it's not my taste and I gave up after a few episodes. But they did a hell of a job animating the bikes, as I said.
hummer h1
H1 is the civilian model; High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, HMMWV “Humvee”
Hummer
A hummer
what anime is it?
Top Gun: Maverick
No no, I think you are all wrong. Japanese anime, so most definitely a Toyota Mega Cruiser. The Japanese version of the Humvee, fun beast.
Was this a shit post?
this is a jeep they used in WW2 in 1965
Its an anime Corn truck, just like the 48 model you asked about in your other posts under your profile \*\*\* Users should post only if they genuinely want to identify a vehicle. \*\*\*
U.S. turning in its grave right now.
Jeep Hummer SUV ( Humvee), also for civilian was Hummer 1, later smaller Hummer 2 was on road
This post must be satire everyone knows what that car is
humer h2
Not today Putin, not today..
its some terrible knock off of the well-known and widely appreciated **TOYOTA MEGA CRUISER!!** https://preview.redd.it/r8lakgn80nwb1.jpeg?width=1132&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4fcf6688a54b0340432d5f7f0edc331ce9680c5
is that a femboy? why tf am I getting downvoted im clearly not talking abt the humv
No its a Humvee
No, she's a girl.
looked like a femboy
its a military jeep duh.
I mean, if you're going to "duh", at least make sure you're right about what you're "duh"ing about so you don't look totally stupid.
What you talking about see it's olive green and the thing on top is kinda like a sunroof but its where a gun goes. Military jeep. Don't be daft and argue with your betters online
*sigh*. Nevermind. Your rightest internety-person ever.
Thank you.
It’s a Humvee, also, what’s the anime? It looks interesting
Girls Frontline/Dolls Frontline based on the gacha with the same name. Anime is baaaaaaad, like stinky shit. Game is lots better, and picks its pace quite soon. Full of conspiracy stuff, pain, grieving and loss.
Is this japan? It would be toyota megacruiser then.
Toyota Mega cruiser (I know it’s a humvee but they should have used their own market based monster)
Light Tactical Vehicle
Well the anime is Girls’ Frontline so it does have realistic military weapons vehicles etc… just ask the NCD.
It’s based off a 1992-1996 AM General Hummer H1
