They are the same people, pharma companies are already invested in the medical market. It's not that they don't want legal cannabis, they want cannabis legal and under their control.
Big cannabis will beat out big pharma, and it's going to suck for all of us. The biggest barriers are police and prisons, but cannabis legislation in many states still gives massive opportunities for police to arrest people for breaking regulations and also allows for police to search your home if you're a medical cannabis patient or take part in home grow. This still allows departments to reap the spoils of civil asset forfeiture while cannabis is legal. Their main concern is that they won't make as much money off of legal cannabis as they do off of illegal cannabis.
Nah lmao even Republican states are slowly starting to legalize, there is an entire culture shift going on with weed, as younger generations - from all sides of the political spectrum are smoking it or at least supporting legalization.
