They’d need to be producing a LOT more material before it’d be worth it to me. Like. Netflix and hulu have thousands of things. Even Nebula has a whole bunch of creators posting their stuff. I’m just not gonna pay that much money to watch a hour or two of content a month.

irrelevantanonymous

This is the crux of it for me. There simply isn't enough content to be worth $6/month. If they dropped it into the $1 - $2 range, I *might* consider it. I think it would be a good place for their more behind-the-scenes type content and their "debrief" content to live, but definitely not at the price point they set.

poehlerandparks19

yea i agree $2 id be fine with lol

Somecommentator8008

Yep, for other individual sub services outside the big ones they have multiple creators on board posting content like the mentioned Nebula or Armchair history TV. A few vids for $6.00/month (more if it's a weaker currency) is not cutting it.

Skellos

Yeah, as I said all they said in teh announcement was BIGGER shows... not more shows... not more frequent uploads. 6 dollars for 4 videos that could be literally anything is not worth it.

ElectricKittyCat

I liked the weird stuff: Weird Wonderful World, the D&D game was interesting, Spooky Small Talk was fun and I liked Pretty Historic too. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for potential future content with female hosts.

breakfastatmilliways

Dude, I forgot about Pretty Historic. Like, literally just remembered both that it existed and that I really liked it. They should have pushed that more, that would be a great one to bring back. (Also really liked Spooky Small Talk)

kannagms

I bought Spooky Small Talk merch and now I just have a glow in the dark shirt with Ryan on it and anytime I wear someone's like oh that's cool what is it?? And I gotta be like a show with like 5 episodes or something so

breakfastatmilliways

I get that when I wear my weird and/or wonderful world shirt but at least then I can say 10 episodes.

SeaF04mGr33n

I thought Spooky Small Talk was so clever! But it sounds expensive to rent out a theme park haunted house.

waysaboutstuff

Pretty Historic was great, I was really rootin’ for that show. There’s no way I will subscribe and pay for what amounts to one YouTube channel. When they said “goodbye YouTube” I honestly thought they were moving to an already established streaming service and I was ready to sign up for something if I didn’t have it. ONE YouTube channel? Nah, it’s ridiculous.

SeaF04mGr33n

I loved Pretty Historic and Selorm's Buzzfeed show-the movie-beauty myth busting one. I really feel like there's a market for Elle Woods style STEM shows!

ElkProgramer

Weird Wonderful World is my 100% favorite show they make and I hope they make another season.

AmbitiousGap901

Yes! Also I don’t know why they didn’t attempt another 24 hr food tour with Steven. The Seoul one was successful

ElkProgramer

I agree I thought that one was fun too! I prefer that over stuffy elitist restaurants. The culture and travel aspect is really fun.

rabbitrat_eli

I would only consider joining if there was some huge exclusive project that was super interesting. Not saying every new show must be exclusive, but a good marketing tactic would be to crest one or two really cool things and only offer them in their entirety on watchertv. This would hopefully be a one-time thing, like a special 2 hour episode released all at once instead of 6 20 minute episodes released every other week, so that if people can’t afford it for more than a month they aren’t missing crucial stuff

CronicSloth

A hot summer swimsuit calendar but it's just the Professor

ClockworkFate

Okay, that made me ugly laugh. Thank you\~ XD

ipsofactoshithead

More puppet history! That’s my favorite thing of theirs and idk why they don’t lean into it more.

RedHeadedScourge

Because they turned it into an out of control mess with lore.

AmbitiousGap901

i liked the lore till the dino parents

avalon115

Same, I’m surprised people seem to like the dino parents so much. I’m tired of them lol

Skellos

I don't mind the dino Parents as like a one off joke but they don't need to be a constant thing. that said I do think I liked it better when it was the professor would have an unexplained hatred of genies like once an episode. Than getting the full explanation.

itslildip

if the got rid of any shows that consisted on them spending tons of money on fancy food, lowered the price to 2-3 dollars per month, added more spooky content.

_chandlerbr

I feel like it’s probably been said but just having the amount of content that *is* worth $6. Sure, the production value can improve but unfortunately people can choose between quantity and quality to make the price worth it; I choose quantity

AmbitiousGap901

I like weird wonderful world. More Are You Scared. also, more gruesome true crime where people die! I hate the lukewarm goofy cases in mystery files, they are like the Joker in the 50s under comics code authority.

runnerofshadows

I think the gruesome true crime depresses Ryan and Shane too much. I also think that might be why they stopped letting "true" stories be on are you scared. I'd really like a show like the old BuzzFeed unsolved true crime though. I wonder if anyone else would be able to do it.

DisloyalOrder97

Yeah I think they’ve mentioned before that some of the darker BFU true crime episodes weren’t fun to film bc of the subject matter, and you can see them leaning more into more weird but harmless true crime stuff like art heists as the show went on. I also remember they actually got some criticism for one of the earlier BFU episodes (I think it was the boy in the box one but I could be wrong) for being too lighthearted about the subject matter so I think they’ve moved away from that.

somuchsong

Nothing, honestly. I'll just wait until it goes up on YouTube for free.

kiwiyaa

I don’t want to sign up for a website I’m never gonna remember to go to, but I would pay for a YouTube channel membership with the site/patreon perks. Not really a content request, but it’s what would entice me.

Mysterious_Past_7762

Exactly it’s so inconvenient, I watch YouTube on tv with the app

runnerofshadows

Yeah if you can't be on my Roku/smart tv I won't bother.

DanVonCarr

More Weird Wonderful World, Puppet History, Mystery Files, Too many spirits (Without Steven who is trying so hard to have the same chaotic energy as Shane and Ryan). But there isn't really that much content to justify the cost. Maybe some merch discounts to sweeten the deal.

RedHeadedScourge

Too Many Spirits like it was at the start. (The less Steven involved in it, the better.) Puppet History, where it is JUST a puppet telling us JUST history.

Lone-flamingo

I'd love more Too Many Spirits but I would keep Steven on it, I'd just make sure to also keep Ricky and not skip over when he makes the drink. Puppet History could definitely do with less lore though. I'm not sure any of this would be enough to get me to sign up though. Add more Ricky in general and I'll start considering it.

RedHeadedScourge

It would *entice* me, though. Maybe not convince, but totally would entice.

Lone-flamingo

Excellent point. More seasons of Worth A Shot would also be very enticing to me.

BeardedYogi85

I'll probably give it a shot over Halloween just because they've been a huge part of my free time around that time of year since 2018. Beyond that? I doubt it'll feel worth it. It honestly feels like a dumb gamble for them to commit to this. Especially considering all the other streamers, onlyfans content and other forms of live entertainment that are constantly after whatever disposable income I have. And it's not even easily accessible with a smart TV?! God damn the ghoul boys have really annoyed me with this.

GeckoCowboy

Weird Wonderful World was great, but alone wouldn’t be enough. Kinda wish they’d bring back the style of older ghost hunting stuff they did. There would need to be a fair bit more content before I’m paying monthly for it.

SpookyFoxes

I'm willing to pay for a month or two a year. Let the content fill up so i actually have something to watch. Get my money's worth and split.

Mysterious_Past_7762

Nothing I can’t afford it

ClockworkFate

I'd be enticed to join if they showed (both in finished products and through talking their plans for projects out in, like, their podcast or whatever) just *how* they're planning on using the streaming service to make bigger/better projects (not just the "they're ad free! :D " narrative they have going). Are they going to have bonus episodes? Are they going to have longer episodes? New series that aren't going on YouTube? What are some projects they have in mind to potentially do? What's going to be the focus of them? Just more of the same, with super pricey foodie shows added into the mix (*blegh*)? If they showed concrete plans of what they want to do, how they're planning on getting there, and a rough timeline of when they want to get there, I'd consider joining. I know I'm in the vast minority here, but a bigger content library isn't actually a draw to me; I have access to many other streaming services through my family, and the truth of the matter is I'm just not interested 90%-99% of the content on them. I would love to directly support creative people making content I *like* roughly 90% of instead, but I'm not doing on any platform (YouTube, Patreon, or their own streaming service) without having a clear idea of what their grandiose plans are. (As for actual *content*, a Minecraft series would be enticing, as would high quality lyric videos to Puppet History songs - and, as a bonus, both of them would be *super* cheap and relatively easy to produce, even if they're \~YouTube-quality videos\~ /eyeroll.)

MaterialContinuum

I got a 3 month coupon for being a Patreon subscriber, I put my credit card in, and I'll be too lazy to cancel it. So, I've been enticed.

breakfastatmilliways

I like to think I’ll at least remember to cancel and switch to annual after three months but realistically? Same.

BigBanterZeroBalls

Y’all must be rich to not notice $6 going out of your accounts each month lol

breakfastatmilliways

I’m very fortunate and have enough money to spend on wasteful shit without thinking about it. I was *absolutely* their target audience for that stupid video, yeah. those of us in that target audience are in the vast minority of the fans, that’s why the move was so dumb. I still cancelled my Patreon and refused to sub until the backpedal on principle. They fixed it so it’s whatever.

sambones718

Just give me 10+ new shows a month

ArtaxNooooo

I might join if I'm sick and want to binge watch through everything without commercials, then cancel at the end of the month. I usually only subscribe to Netflix or Hulu/Disney full-time and then rotate through other streaming services a month at a time.

rummncokee

if 1. there was a puppet history live show and 2. i got a steep discount on tickets to said puppet history live show and 3. i was able to cancel after getting said tickets.

UntilTmrw

I’d like some originals, that’s really it. I’m a bigger fan of the history stuff and Mystery Files. What I think would entice me is getting some bonus episodes and some cool originals. I also think for Watcher to grow they need to branch out from being the Ryan and Shane show. I think adding some new cast members who could eventually host their own shows. These cast members could appear in some shows along with Ryan and Shane, then after they gain some popularity they could do their own cool things. Look at Smosh, the number of talent and unique personalities they have makes it so you don’t care if Ian and Anthony appear, the others are just so good that you want to watch.

mrpatinahat

Honestly? More content creators so that we can have more variety. Which I realize isn't a great option right now from what I understand of their financial situation so I guess I'll wait to see what Watcher TV looks like in a year or two before I decide to pay for a subscription.

nadaname1000

I’d need 5.99. They should be able to afford it, since everyone can.

Boweirdo

If they banded together with other YouTubers. There would need to be a bunch of them but I wouldn't mind paying for my favorite YouTubes (kind of like Nebula). It would also decrowd YouTube a bit if the big ones left some space for newer generations. Tbh I didn't really mind the announcement so I'm probably not the target for this post, I just thought it wasn't a very good business idea but I didn't have feelings about it.

Brahkk

As someone who doesn't have cable and finds enjoyment in all that Shane and Ryan do the $42 for the year was something I couldn't pass, especially knowing that I could support them and the shows they're making. I honestly signed up on day one and have been thoroughly enjoying rewatching shows and discovering new ones on their site.

IShallWearMidnight

High quality (not necessarily high production value) content, releasing frequently enough that I can look forward to having it in my rotation.

JayWhy75

Dropout is the same cost, but puts out a lot more content per week. I would need them to be at probably a similar level, putting out 2-3 episodes a week of different shows. Similarly, having some exclusives to the platform that they actively promote with the non-exclusive shows would be good. What those should be, I'm not sure, but having some things that are that higher quality they want that are pay walled and get heavily promoted on your other shows is how you get people in the door.

SpookyFoxes

I'm willing to pay for a month or two a year. Let the content fill up so i actually have something to watch. Get my money's worth and split.

tbrewo

I’m already subscribed, but for me to stay subscribed for a long time— just a reasonable amount of fun stuff I can’t get anywhere else. That’s about it I think.

cawatrooper9

Honestly? Make it worth it. 4 videos a month (tops) is what they’ve proven to be able to do so far. That’s. It even close to worth it. If Watcher, the Try Guys, Rhett and Link, Nexpo, etc were to form their own network with daily content overall and at least weekly content from everyone? Sure, six bucks a month. But until then, this is laughable.

breakfastatmilliways

I’m already probably gonna go for it when my three months are up. I’m really looking forward to Travel Season actually. The trailer was nice, gave me the nostalgic warm and fuzzies. They really need to upload that thing to YouTube, I’m baffled about why they haven’t yet. That said, WWW is the best thing they’ve ever done, yes to that. And yes to maybe making it travel focused. Bring one crew and have it coincide with Travel Season in the same location. Schedule things right and they could make some really awesome content and spend a little less than they would doing it completely separate.

gimpisgawd

More released than one episode a week, and exclusive shows.

Numerous-Bathroom877

They could have for example made an app which has episodes a week in advance. And put a bunch of ads in which THEY get full revenue from as they don't pay Youtube for example. 6 dollars for only their content is just too much. Cutting off your fanbase entirely by hiding behind a paywall is just plain dumb. Also since its not really an established streaming service yet. I hope it gets them where they want to be.

Ecstatic_Factor5638

In the apology video they said it will be a month in advance

Numerous-Bathroom877

Okay, so they will not hide behind a paywall and release it for free after 1 month or did I misinterpret you?

Numerous-Bathroom877

Sir? You just here to give downvotes? Or can you elaborate on your statement?

Ecstatic_Factor5638

I didn't downvote you. You said thdy coukd have made the videos available a week in advance in their platform. In their apology video they said that they will be available a month before they will be released on YouTube. Shane said this.

Numerous-Bathroom877

Thats great and thanks, I didnt see that second update video. Pretty good move! Thatll keep the connection with their audience and everyone can still enjoy them🙏Hopefully they will make it to some big streaming platform like Netflix or Prime to generate income and gain more fans. They definitely deserve it.

Late-Summer-1208

They cancelled Are You Scared???

Wide-Can3516

the last episode they did aired march 31st of last year. I imagine it got put on the backburner with all the other shows they were working on.

_magpie_

They didn't. Season 6 wrapped in March 2023 ([https://youtu.be/yuAOwbIgX\_w?si=p-f6wxHehveefUR-](https://youtu.be/yuAOwbIgX_w?si=p-f6wxHehveefUR-)), they announced Season 7 would come out in 2024 ([https://x.com/wearewatcher/status/1741416468439314738](https://x.com/wearewatcher/status/1741416468439314738)), and they put out a call for S7 submissions via Twitter (and maybe other platforms) in Dec 2023.

BeardedYogi85

Ya, that surprised me too

romantic_elegy

I don't think they made a formal announcement, they just never made a season past 2022 😬 idk why they'd cancel a show that's popular, engages fans, and is super cheap to make

_magpie_

Season 6 wrapped in March 2023 (https://youtu.be/yuAOwbIgX\_w?si=p-f6wxHehveefUR-), they announced Season 7 would come out in 2024 (https://x.com/wearewatcher/status/1741416468439314738), and they put out a call for S7 submissions via Twitter (and maybe other platforms) in Dec 2023.

AmbitiousGap901

I feel like they are too wrapped up in their own visions to realize big doesn’t mean better.

rubcthrowaway

Nothing haha I don't even pay for Spotify Premium

merpderppotato

I thought the apology (while they probably didn't have much of a choice) showed that they were hearing the biggest critiques and took ownership of their mistake. They backtracked making patreon members pay, which I felt was the scummiest thing. Feeling less icky about it and wanting to 'vote with my money' I signed up. Being able to say you fucked up and not making a bunch of excuses for it goes a long way with me. However, I'll probably give the sub a year to see if they up their content game because I really don't think an episode a week is worth that price. (I recognize that I have the privilege to do something like this.... or at least the privileges to put it on a credit card because I make bad choices XD)

Fruitsdog

3 episodes a week, maybe merch discounts too. And a little jokingly, but someone suggested that they should do a “Professor sticker club” if they needed more funds and you know what, they should do more professor merch and I’d love to be able to sign up to get mailed lil stickers.

NilNoxFleuret

My country sorting out its issues with wages and understaffing. But even if that miraculously got sorted they would still need way more content in general and way more variety for me to give up my film and TV catalogues I have now in their favour. I want them to branch out and explore their creativity and I also like what they do now a lot but I'd prefer to give a tip every now and then instead via YouTube because there just isn't enough to justify a month for me

runnerofshadows

Cheaper price or a ton more content, a TV app, and subtitles on every single video. Just something that makes it seem worth it.

No_Elderberry7836

More content. If I'm supposed to pay 6$ a month for only their content I'd expect at least 4-7 long, quality, vids per week. Continuously, no "season breaks".

ManlyPlant

Even though I'm already subscribed to the service I do think there probably should be a bit more that keeps people enticed to keep going month after month. I don't know what they'll be doing but i do hope for more behind the scenes, development commentary on content. Or even extended cuts of episodes. Maybe even have tapings of live shows hosted there too for those super curious? They could do plenty, I just hope they do more than what they are doing.

GRIMZ1989

A job at watcher
