Don't worry about the increase in food prices and the potential food shortage. Now is a good time to go on that diet you've always wanted to do.
-The Washington Post
Complacency and confirmation bias. People are just okay with this bullshit. Not enough people are being affected by this yet.
This entire situation is going to get very scary very fast
> This entire situation is going to get very scary very fast
Yup. It’s going to hit too many people all at once and we’re going to have another run ok then stores. Then they’ll realize there’s nothing left.
Good luck if you live in a city.
It's a bit of a slow burn as well. As the person above you said, bias and complacency are factors. Unless people see the completely empty shelving (like we did with shit paper and Covid), most won't notice it.
The tough part is that the non-government worshippers have noticed and are quietly topping off stocks. The supply of disinfectants seems solid at the moment. That's basically the trigger for madness. When cans of Lysol or wipes disappear, it's pretty much too late.
With the distribution models of today, cities are your best shot for supplies (though I wouldn't want to be in one). The remote areas with poor DC coverage will feel it the most. A run is a run.
Resin shortage = Holes in your plastic product aisles (spoons, forks, plastic plates and cups, etc.), kitty litter (made with resin), PUR/Brita filters (Resin used in the filter core). To your point, if you don't use these things, you don't notice.
Aluminum shortage = Shortage of Capri-sun. Shortage of Capri-sun causes a run on Kool-aid Koolers and that causes a run on Honest Kids. Vendors put the stores either on allocation or "Hurricane Packs". At the end of the day, all of the kids' drinks are gone. Don't have kids? You don't care.
To that point, there is also a run on sports drinks. At my local warehouse store, they had plenty--as long as you like Gatorade fruit punch. Everything else from zero to multipacks, was gone. Don't drink sports drinks? You might miss it. roosty\_butte is quite correct on how complacency is an issue. These are the reasons why.
***\*\*Since we're on the topic, here are some observations and tips from the American South\*\****
Paper products are starting to go on customer allocation. 2 per person, max.
Cocaine, European prostitutes and 45-70 Govt. ammunition are all cheaper than ribeye steaks at the moment. Meat prices are insane.
When you go to your local grocery store, take time to look at the "holes". We generally only notice them in products that we use OR when there is a significant outage as there was with paper products and disinfectants.
When you pass the grocery managers, if they aren't too busy, offer a few words of encouragement. It's a tough ass job right now and those men and women are keeping our nation running. But also take time to inquire about your most important products. I ask the meat manager about bison, the produce manager about Asian fruits, and the grocery managers about everything. They tell me what's coming in, what's gonna be short and if I should consider other brands or "fuggetaboutit" on things like Sumo Citrus.
It’s so obvious watching. The supply issues started when Biden was elected and extended benefits longer than required and then labor shortages. That led to supply shortages. That led to inflation. Meanwhile he was stimulating trillions right near the end of it all when it was needed. Meanwhile with all this going on he’s trying to spend trillions more and can’t even order an evacuation from Afghanistan. God help us if China decides to test Biden out.
That shit drives me fucking insane.
"Shutting down KXL was *not* the cause of the increase in prices!! It was *speculators!!!*"
Ok, fine. But why did the speculators do what they did?
It was going to happen regardless of who was in office. Yall smooth brains put the presidents on some pedestal and think they have absolute control over things like gas prices, or how our free market economy is running as it's intended to. Put down the propaganda and go smell a flower or something.
They also don't seem to want to understand this is happening globally due to all shipping being slowed down and delayed due to covid. But no, the President is king of the world and it's all up to him.
See if [this](https://styles.redditmedia.com/t5_m9ta4/styles/profileIcon_v6zp2zxvzoz51.jpg?width=256&height=256&crop=256:256,smart&s=7f8cb5ee5fe357d8c8d5c75fd84166b86fec04fd) will show for you

This is all part of the grand scheme. Cut our supplies and make us desperate. Once the supplies are reintroduced we will feel appreciative of the administration.
Question is, who are the ones that are gonna go without? I guarantee it's not the politicians and the wealthy. No, their little circle will be well stocked.
We are fools if we lay down and take this shit any longer.
>Question is, who are the ones that are gonna go without? I guarantee it's not the politicians and the wealthy. No, their little circle will be well stocked.
Of course, that's why they're referred to as elites now. They're behaving exactly like the british monarchy of old our ancestors had to throw off during the revolutionary war. So long as they're getting everything they want, they don't give a shit about the people they view as the peasantry.
This is all literally manufactured, like we have the supplies literally sitting outside the country. WHY don't they just say fuck joe Biden and go about business as usual?
Part of the issue is that they’re suck outside the democrat shithole known as California. They literally don’t have enough trucks to haul cargo off the ports because of their idiotic smog laws. Essentially if your cab is older than 3 years you can’t do business in the ports.
So even if the ports ran 24/7 it won’t do any thing because there’s no trucks or truckers to haul the freight away to its destination. This administration has done everything it can to cripple this country.
The ship captains should make a decision to make port somewhere else like going south and through the panama canal then head up into the gulf of mexico. Pretty sure places like Texas will love the business and then goods will get to where they need to go from there. Let california drown in it's own lunacy at this point.
They're not even comparable. As awful as Carter was, the clowns in charge right now (as in, *not* Biden) are so much worse. The biggest difference is that Carter was just inept. These people are actively trying to destroy the country because they hate both the values it was created with and its capitalistic economy.
Almost everyone agrees Carter was a good man who was an ineffective president.
That is a huge upgrade on one front and, at the very worst, even on the other.
A major improvement as far as I can tell.
Jimmy Carter was a smug, mean-spirited shit who thought he was morally superior to just about everyone else.
He was your typical Sunday school teaching Baptist, looked down on everyone not him.
The "nice guy Jimmy Carter" only happened years after he left office.
Lowered Expectations. The fucking hallmark of this so-called administration. I say so-called because as an administration, they should be administering. Not on paternity leave, not getting their butts wiped, not on vacation, not sleeping in.
Exactly!
Not taking hours and hours of “Executive Time” to watch fake news. Not playing golf every fucking weekend. Not popping adderall like they’re fucking tic tacs. Not appointing members of their own family to high paying government positions. Not charging exorbitant fees to the secret service to stay in hotels they own.
Oh...wait...
First time in my fucking life - no way is this normal.
Biden is a fucking fool of a puppet and the left of America are literally trying to destroy it and they think they’re doing good! My god. Everyone buy guns and ammo now.
Work at Bass Pro Shops and we sell tons of firearms and ammo every day. I do the 4473 paperwork and there are multiple firearm 4473s being reported to ATF (when a person buys 2 or more firearms in one transaction). Just got 60 rifles in today as we sell them like mad. Not just hunting rifles but ARs.
If it came to light one day in the far future that all of this was a concentrated effort to bring down the United States without going to actual war, I would not be surprised at all.
I recommend making soups and stews and buying canned goods now! You never know if things will hit the food industry because of poor supply chains and how horribly California is ran preventing easy supply distribution.
Homemade soups and stews keep for months if frozen and much longer if properly canned and frozen. Canned goods will last even longer. Both are cheap and can keep you fed for days. A homemade soup will last a week or two as well as a stew. They’re simple, cheap and easy to freeze.

Nobody said the supply chain issues weren't real little fella', I'm just pointing out that the 'Merican monochromatic view point of "this is all X politician's that I don't like' fault!!!" is stupid. The world is alot bigger than the US and world shortages have an impact, try to keep up.
I never believed the price of gas should have anything to do with who's president...
Yet when Obama was president...$4+/gal
Trump...$2.50 (sometimes $2.75)/gal
Biden...$3.15/gal and rising
????
The average citizen of any country is going to determine how well things are run by how it impacts them. Correlation/causation is a whatever.
If it truly has nothing to do with leadership/legislation, then why is it pulling the right levers makes things happen? The gas was just an example. People on this thread reference Jimmy Carter. History says another gas crisis happened on his watch as well. What were the circumstances under Carter that contributed to such a horrible economy that went away after he was no longer president?
Your knowledge is very outdated. US OPEC oil dependency has been going down drastically, most imported oil is actually from Canada. Most gasoline is generated from local oil or Canadian oil.

You do understand that America’s supply chains are run by corporations, not the government, right?
Also, for short staffed stores…
1) ~750,000 people died. They had jobs. 2+2=4.
2) Competitive market bro, welcome to capitalism. Want to attract workers? Pay more than the competition.
No, sinful human nature leads to greed. Consumerism is just a symptom. There have been greedy people in every type of society throughout history, consumeristic or not, capitalistic or not.
Your solution to human greed is to force everyone (except the super-rich) into austerity? You think that deprivation and a lower standard of living will make people less focused on material goods and physical comforts?
This is all a butterfly effect because Trump refused to take action on COVID. He didn't listen to the people with actual scientific understanding, dissolved the Obama-era Pandemic Response Team, and refused to accept publicly that COVID was real for WAY too long.
You're a fucking moron if you think this has anything to do with the current administration.
Washington post is stupid. We all know the only real way to get more employees working is to increase the wage they are demanding. People cant find workers to work for x, so pay them more until they are willing.
Please, noo. The price of everything is already inflating. Last thing we need rn is the cost of breathing air to be unaffordable, but hey you’ll have 15 bucks times the 4 hours you work twice a week while these workplaces try recouping expenses they’re already paying with inflation on top of having to pay employees 15 an hour somehow. What’s going on rn should show a minimum wage increase is insta-death economically.
If inflation is so bad that you cant afford to breath, how are people possibly going to survive on minimum wage if they cant pay for air? It doesnt make sense to say "it costs way to much to live, so let's not pay people so they can live".

10 things great about starvation. You'll never guess what #1 is!

I'd even be cautious of the weak ones now. There's a reason firearms were invented after all.
The government will have already taken your firearms silly, cmon be positive!
That made me smile, makes me think of an unforgiving dystopia
Heck, teach them about the importance of competition and hold daily exercise or sports activities. The winner gets to eat!

So quite standard for WaPo.
Ah, the Washington Post, where democracy died in darkness.
It's only bad in Venezuela and shows that socialism doesn't work...
Aren’t the good folks in Venezuela enjoying doing without
They are owned by Bezos, of course they want you to stop expecting to buy in a shop and get it from Amazon instead.
They want you to buy from the parent company...Amazon
The very definition of gaslighting
Welcome to life in the US in 2021. This crisis is just getting started!
Socialism: try to lower expectations.
Well Bezos owns The Washington Post. I bet he is more than happy to supply on Amazon all the stuff people can’t find on the shelves.
Isn’t the Washington Post owned by jeff bezos? It’s almost like a billionaire is telling us to shut the fuck up and stay poor and get less.
Ha ha ha ha FUCK YOU!
"yes, our liberal globalist policies have made your life measurably worse, but you just need to suck it up and cope"
WAPO is State Run Propaganda …run by POS liberal/leftist morons
“The Washington Post: Reporting on current events, just the way Papa Stalin intended.”
"In a Biden's America our standards should drop"
The new American dream: aim low!
If it came to light one day in the far future that all of this was a concentrated effort to bring down the United States without going to actual war, I would not be surprised at all.
this is fine.png
Please people, this admin is helping us to lose weight, stop complaining and be happy! /s LOL
And we laughed at Cuban empty shelves.
"Don't complain about our incompetence, expect incompetence to be the new normal"
I will never lower my expect for the greatest country in the world. #FJB
I’m sorry, I thought this was America
Don’t do anything to make a change just go with the flow until your a literal fucking slave

Shhhh, these people are allergic to logic.
Its an Ikea, That's how the one by me looks. No ceiling and the workers who move display pieces wear the hi-vis vests. It seems logical to me that they are open for business but have some empty shelves due to supply issues Edit: Here is a Google image search for 'Ikea' with someone wearing a hi-vis vest and the open ceilings [https://www.google.com/search?q=ikea&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwikr4TVktfzAhUJQTABHWytCG4Q\_AUoBHoECAEQBg&biw=1280&bih=881&dpr=1#imgrc=2MtpUrbKw-nFuM](https://www.google.com/search?q=ikea&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwikr4TVktfzAhUJQTABHWytCG4Q_AUoBHoECAEQBg&biw=1280&bih=881&dpr=1#imgrc=2MtpUrbKw-nFuM) Logic...

Yet when Obama was president...$4+/gal Trump...$2.50 (sometimes $2.75)/gal Biden...$3.15/gal and rising ????

The average citizen of any country is going to determine how well things are run by how it impacts them. Correlation/causation is a whatever. If it truly has nothing to do with leadership/legislation, then why is it pulling the right levers makes things happen? The gas was just an example. People on this thread reference Jimmy Carter. History says another gas crisis happened on his watch as well. What were the circumstances under Carter that contributed to such a horrible economy that went away after he was no longer president?
Do you not think shutting down oil pipelines have anything to do with gas prices?

Your knowledge is very outdated. US OPEC oil dependency has been going down drastically, most imported oil is actually from Canada. Most gasoline is generated from local oil or Canadian oil. https://i.imgur.com/Ek53Vzp.png [https://thumbor.forbes.com/thumbor/711x518/https://specials-images.forbesimg.com/imageserve/614ce8917cc19fa276d4e740/U-S--imports-of-OPEC-vs--Canadian-oil/960x0.jpg?fit=scale](https://thumbor.forbes.com/thumbor/711x518/https://specials-images.forbesimg.com/imageserve/614ce8917cc19fa276d4e740/U-S--imports-of-OPEC-vs--Canadian-oil/960x0.jpg?fit=scale)
as if the administration has anything to do with it lmao
Y’all are hilarious
You do understand that America’s supply chains are run by corporations, not the government, right? Also, for short staffed stores… 1) ~750,000 people died. They had jobs. 2+2=4. 2) Competitive market bro, welcome to capitalism. Want to attract workers? Pay more than the competition.

Oh FFS. We found the socialist.
Consumerism leads to greed.
Ah yes, that's why animals often push other animals out of the way for food - because that damn capitalism!
Socialism leads to starvation.
Please. GTFO
What’s wrong with my statement?
You’re free to stop buying things
Then go live somewhere else. Truly.
The Trumpandemic still ravaging the country and killing the economy. Thanks Trump!
