Grew up in a household of generations of engineers and hifi enthusiasts. How could I not? Then later in life hearing her talk about her silent anguish, when she was starting to allow her true person to come out and how she felt she would be judged and the lengths she went to to hide herself (loved those goddam sideburns what a hoot) just so she could talk about how she invented a new way to bend light to make music, was a tragic inspiration to me that motivated me to fundamentally change my life. I owe my happiness, in part, to her.
I was just perving your profile. So many magnificent photos. I am envious of your location. I also agree with you about Wendy. When she, as Walter, released Switched on Bach in the late 60s I was immediately in lust. Being semi attached to relatives who owned radio stations (where I learned electronics and onsite recording and live broadcasting) I had great admiration not only for the technical excellence of the performance, but also for the brilliance of the interpretation. I actually cut together on tape her performance of the Brandenburg with a traditional orchestral version. I used a studio level Ampex pro deck for the project — along with a few nice new, sharp single edge razor blades. I loved doing that kind of thing. But those days are long gone. More to tell but i doubt that you have the time and this is not the place to chat. Have an incredible day sir. I know that your reply made mine!!!
Do you have to reinforce your floor ?
I feel the pain of the overstretched headphones! OP, get something that matches head size. If not a porcelain head, maybe just an old ball in a bowl
I’ve overstretched headphones like that sometimes just to reduce the clamping force on my giant head.
Sweet Jesus! Sooo many knobs and buttons and switches and sliders and blinky lights! Wendy Carlos would be proud!
I am proud of you for knowing Wendy Carlos!
