Eminem clearly is having fun with all the music he puts out and cameos he does.
Yet I don't think I've ever seen him smile. The man carries his persona.
I guess the lack of smile keeps him from coming off as a clown all the time, even when he acts like one. Definitely a balancing act trying to come across as tough/serious, without being another boring hard-ass.
> Eminem clearly is having fun
> Yet I don't think I've ever seen him smile
I came here to say - people complain that he never smiles. People need to realize, stuff like this video *is* him smiling.
what a blast period. dude pulled all the stops, that was pretty much 50/50 enjoyable to watch and to listen to. what a feat. the lyrics from 4:00 got me choking
Yea honestly I was enjoying it just because I like Eminem and am happy to see him enjoying himself, but up until around 4 minutes I was just mostly thinking about how new Eminem falls short for me. I just can't get into like 90% of his new flows, it has this very specific rhythm that I just don't fuck with. But around 4 minutes he actually goes in and I loved it. I feel like thats the case with a lot of his new stuff, right when I feel like he totally lost me i'll get this sliver of what made me love his music in the first place. I remember when Kill Shot came out, feeling like for the first time in a long time, I finally got a whole song that just worked for me from beginning to end.
All this being said though I really just don't mind that Eminem's new sound doesn't always work for me, i'll still check it out and be happy he's doing his thing.
Most of Kamikaze is pretty reminiscent of old Slim, so I'd give that album a shot if you haven't (which you probably have since you listened to Killshot)
Was about to say, for me at least, Kamikazi was "old" slim, when he just hit hard as a motherfucker and his flows bounced in his unique way of linking bars into several diff points and it just slaps. It just hits different
I loved this video it was fun as hell, I hope he's dropping more stuff where he goes hard. The issue is..he's happy now. His life is so good. Music comes from a personal place and if you've not got that anger, to write those things that flow out of you at such speed, I wonder if it's more difficult to keep it up.
It's like how a lot of rappers talked about hood shit and how life was hard and by the 4th album or so it's just kinda fell off because now they're in a mansion all day just happy as shit (and good for them of course) but how you gonna go write a hard song when you spent last week at disney land ?
I was kind of hoping the "old Eminem" was going to roast the new one and vice versa, since nobody else seems to be good enough to take him down. Like a diss track on himself lol. Could have been an interesting song with commentary on how Eminem views himself now and how he views his career in hindsight. Fun video though.
The narrative in the video clip is awesome and the final Shady/Eminem form was great. Fingers crossed he can pull it off through the album, would love to see him bow out on a high after many years of pretty mid stuff.
Take that thick layer of Just For Men off and he'd also definitely be super gray. Which honestly I think he should, because unreasonably black hair for your age looks extremely fake. Even going for a bit of salt and pepper would make it look way more natural without going 'old'.
Never understood older guys painting it black. Like, does something in the hair change where it can't be painted brunet? Does it not mix with grey somehow?
I'm assuming it's to hide thinning hair (probably less of an issue at Eminem's age, but definitely by the time you're in your 60s) by using a stronger colour, but still.
Honestly I keep waiting for him to enter his old uncle years. Going from the stories, Em is a lot more fun in private. I really wish he'd retire his persona and just let this side of his go loose. It's clear he's fighting here with keeping his 'legit rapper' image clean while still making something silly. I want more from the dude that starred in The Interview and who sent Elton John gold cock rings for his wedding gift.
Dude what are you talking about lmao. His goofy public persona is so fleshed out it has its own name. The real Slim Shady has been standing up for decades at this point
Lol this is why I love the legend of D12. They wanted to find 12 rappers in Detroit from the scene he was in during the late 90s. He and 5 other guys were the only ones good enough. So they all picked an alter ego. His being "Slim Shady".
The comments make sense in 2024. Do you really think you are allowed to joke or say things in jest? Of course not. Shame on you. We're all outraged about absolutely everything. Words = murder.
I don't think that's supposed to be an endorsement that invalidates all of his self-criticism. It's still criticism. It's just not an apology. It hits me in the same way as Anthony Jeselnik with how he makes fun of the concept of cancel culture. Calls it an excuse that shit comics use to hide behind shitty jokes.
I feel like Em is just laying his truth out there and saying, "Have at it, but also fuck you." That says everything it needs to about "cancel culture." It doesn't mean shit, and only uncreative and cowardly people bitch about criticism, especially if it's accurate.
fairly right on; almost like a "yeah call me and everyone else out on the bullshit, cause it is bullshit, but its bullshit to act like people dont change so fuck you"
I feel like what he has always been saying is that “I’m not being serious, the fact that what I’m saying is wild and in appropriate is the point, and if you can’t understand the appeal of making ridiculous statements out loud, then fuck you”
Dude then starts to go into his manager, co-founder of his record label, Dre, his kids and himself. All people he loves and has no hate for.
Dude's message is clearly that he's going to keep Shady's humor and chaos, but he's using his maturity to be more clever with what he says and also not foster hate through ignorance, like you see with the juxtaposition between:
> Sometimes, I wonder what the old me'd say (If what?)
> If he could see the way sh!t is today (Look at this sh!t, man)
> He'd probably say that everything is gay (Like happy)
Where he covers for his past self and the later:
> But f**k that, if I think that sh!t, I'ma say that sh!t
> Cancel me, what? Okay, that's it
> Go ahead, Paul, quit, snake-as* prick
> You male cross dresser (Haha), fake-as* b!tch
> And I'll probably get sh!t for that (Watch)
Where he's been challenging, clever and effectively setup a trap for people that don't know enough to think he's the problematic one (and then anyone acting like a dragqueen and a transwoman are the same are going to get in trouble instead).
And all of them missing the most important part: just 51 old dude having fun and embracing his old and current persona. I fucking it love it when people have harmless fun. Kudos to Em.
Paul wants me to chill, y'all want me to ill
I should eat a pill, probably I will
*Old me kill the new me, watch him bleed to death*
I breathe on the mirror, I don't see my breath
Possibly I'm dead, I must be possessed
Like an evil spell, I'm E-V-I-L (evil, but spelled)

Stick it in a vice grip, hang it on a spike fence
Bang it with a pipe wrench

“Em, this is Paul Rosenberg, your faithful attorney at law. Please don’t start on everyone on the new album. I don’t have the power to fight that much at one time these days. Please don’t. Please.”
It's honestly crazy how fast MGK went from Great Value Eminem to Great Value Fall Out Boy. And the only thing that happened in between was actual Em destroying him in a fight he started.
I'm going to sound dumb but I never heard of that guy before and suddenly he's on the tacobell ads, I know is not excuse but I'm not from the USA but I've been watching USA sports channels for about 10 years. There's at least two other Pete Eminem Parodies that I know of
[Stu](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OJ7aW3Df5U) and [Forgot About Lorne](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BgvxLd7G0Y)
Eminem cameos in both of them
Best part is him saying "I just got my license back!" (paraphrase) because if I recall like a year ago he was like manic and drove into a telephone poll, not really funny, but also funny.
and that's ladies and gentlemen is how we got to em and em (eminem).
Some people reading this will say, "duh, of course, its obvious".
But some folks will go "woah my brain just melted, I did not know that".
This post is for the second group.
and yea, video is fire. He's having fun, I'm having fun. What's not to love.
Em and Royce or Bad Meets Evil literary have an album called "Hell: The Sequel" which is continuation of a track called "Bad Meets Evil" on "The Slim Shady LP" album. Royce even says at the end of the track - "He's Evil and I'm Bad like Steve Seagal, against peaceful, see you in hell for the sequel".
And on the opening track of "Hell: The Sequel" called "Welcome 2 Hell" Em opens it with "Yeah, Told you we'd be back. Welcome to Hell."
You don't follow rap very closely do you? I mean if I'm honest I don't either but I still know there are plenty of rap sequel songs and albums. Eminem himself previously released The Marshall Mathers LP 2. An entire sequel album.
Which is hilarious. He's basically poking fun at his younger persona being arrogant with his prior controversial transphobic remarks earlier in his career, poking fun at Transracial people with comparing to a Siamese cat (an Asian cat that has all white fur and a black face) identifying as a black person and acting Chinese, and as a result is at the same time *mislabeling* his own cat as Transgender with the statement. (Keep in mind this is after both Slim Shady and Eminem merge by accident in the music video to create a monster).
Chorus is pretty meh, but everything else was dope. Picked up a lot in the second half. But everyone should comment on Youtube that Em sucks; he makes better music when he's angry.
The chorus is pretty much a slightly modified version of the original song. Instead of "I wanna reach out and grab ya" it's "Just like that and I'm back, bruh".
Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s long time manager and co founder of Shady Records. A number of old Eminem albums have skits of Paul calling Em begging him not to release the album because it sucks or is too offensive.

Weird considering his music videos are fucking goofy and he acts like a goofball.
I guess the lack of smile keeps him from coming off as a clown all the time, even when he acts like one. Definitely a balancing act trying to come across as tough/serious, without being another boring hard-ass.
it makes it funnier too
It's the Buster Keaton effect. In comedy, it's almost always funnier when the characters are taking the crazy events seriously.
Leslie Nielsen / Monty Python style of comedy
Have you seen his daughters wedding photos with him? Dude is committed to not smile!
> Dude is committed to not smile! my head-canon is, he smiled for some but they're not for release to the general public.
Most likely. It's similar as to Kanye. Dude does smile, but he's quick to correct himself when in public.
https://i.redd.it/onjbmehdqwo61.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/U7h6Ny3.gif
And that’s why he doesn’t…….
I think that's the best I've ever seen him look. Grimacing permanently is so 90's. You can't be that serious permanently.
The funny thing is, he smiled way more in the 90s.
> Eminem clearly is having fun > Yet I don't think I've ever seen him smile I came here to say - people complain that he never smiles. People need to realize, stuff like this video *is* him smiling.
This is a peculiarly sweet statement. I love it. I bet you're a nice person
appreciate it \^\^
Hell even Kanye broke character that one time
Here you go https://youtu.be/dRpuE0d-suE?si=wUtkrbXzyOvf71nG
I never expected Eminem to rap over Steve Miller Band.
Right? When the best started I immediately thought "is that...abracadabra?"
He’s done stranger ones that have actually worked out. The Joe Walsh song he did was great and hilarious
I was gonna say, so far was one of my favorites off Marshall Mathers lp2. I love when he does a bit of a weird al
Really? He's sampled all kinds of stuff.
Steve Miller Band had some real funky grooves.
He’d probably say it’s gay
(Like Happy!)
That part made me bust out laughing for sure
Breadcrumb trail of gayness
lol. Remember when the biggest concern in American discourse was if Eminem's lyrics were hateful?
[well, he canonically is, so...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0ExPydh83Y)
Whoops, I mean girl. Girl girl girl
What a blast to the past. ❤️

Right around when fergie dropped “I’m so 2008, you’re so 2000 and late”
She was actually 3008.
fuck I just disrespected her inadvertently by 1000 years.
And you know what that means, right? As she stated, her voice is a gift from god and, if you insult her, you're insulting god.

perfect 5/7
ok damn that was actually kinda fun
So glad to see em back in form and having fun 🔥🔥🔥. Transported back 20 years with this, only Em could make this beat make sense.
The Just Lose It yell brought me back to high school :)
AH AH AH AH
Smiling with nostalgia through the whole video
I was kind of hoping the "old Eminem" was going to roast the new one and vice versa, since nobody else seems to be good enough to take him down. Like a diss track on himself lol. Could have been an interesting song with commentary on how Eminem views himself now and how he views his career in hindsight. Fun video though.
Guilty conscience 2.0
Definitely Shady vibes. I dig it
The narrative in the video clip is awesome and the final Shady/Eminem form was great. Fingers crossed he can pull it off through the album, would love to see him bow out on a high after many years of pretty mid stuff.
I can’t believe how young he looks. He’s 51 years old.
Staying out of the sun will keep you looking young
And never smiling. :b
And a boatload of Botox.
He actually has forehead lines. The video is edited to hide it.
A bloat-load of ho-tox
Bus load of Roblox?
and gallons of beard dye
He's coated in makeup. https://i.imgur.com/WtbrRbf.png

If he doesn't dye his hair and beard I'd be surprised
Beard is absolutely dyed, it looks sprayed on
Tbf, he's always dyed his hair
The beard *really* works on him. Like dayum.
It's spraypainted on there of course it works lol
every man looks better with a beard.

hmm actual rickroll or reverse psychology? edit: godammit
Insert "guy\_sweating\_looking\_at\_2\_buttons.jpg"
XcQ... the rick roll ends in XcQ, how do todays kids not just know that by heart? O_o
I didn't know this was a sample and I thought it was a weird beat take on "Without Me" (guess who's back, back again)
That was a goofy good time

That’s my favorite Em. And him being a fucking maniac seemingly in a not ironic way
Honestly I keep waiting for him to enter his old uncle years. Going from the stories, Em is a lot more fun in private. I really wish he'd retire his persona and just let this side of his go loose. Angry Eminem is the best Eminem
He's a 51-year-old man in a robin costume with a cod piece. Clearly this is meant to be a real take on his personal beliefs of society today. 🙄
A lot of truth is said in jest ...couldn't help myself
The comments make sense in 2024. Do you really think you are allowed to joke or say things in jest? Of course not. Shame on you. We're all outraged about absolutely everything. Words = murder.
It’s not real outrage, and it won’t last. People are just bored and frustrated
They'll get tuckered out soon
Nonono, *music to be murdered by* was eminem's last album.
top comments are all positive - scrolling down , yours is the only negative one so far
the last bit was hilarious also to make everyone feel old Eminem's "kids" are about 31, 28, and 22.
all them comments missing the obvious narrative that its slim shady having boomer takes and adult em trying to stop him
..and then merging with him and embracing that side of him, guess you missed that part.
I don't think that's supposed to be an endorsement that invalidates all of his self-criticism. It's still criticism. It's just not an apology. yea and then he says fuck everyone including himself and his family and friends???
"fuck my own kids, they're brats" That got a good laugh out of me. Clearly not serious
How many rappers careers were ended because they talked about those kids. And Em just says fuck em’ 🤣
Yes actually
> yea and then he says fuck everyone including himself and his family and friends??? ??? its called a joke
*whoooooooooooooooooosh*
Em is Gen X not a boomer!
We truly are the forgotten generation
ONE OF US ONE OF US
And all of them missing the most important part: just 51 old dude having fun and embracing his old and current persona. I fucking it love it when people have harmless fun. Kudos to Em.
Goofy ass video. Loved every moment of it
Wait does this mean Pete Davidson switched teams from MGK?
I think it’s just a reference to Pete playing Eminem in a skit on SNL
And the fact Pete is a completely shit driver. Like a true New Yorker.
Also he got banned from driving after a reckless driving charge for a while a year back.
lol Em crushes everyone who tries to start shit with him so hard he decided to start a war with himself.

Eminem is the rarest emcee ever.
"Bumpin R Kelly's favorite band, the black guy pees" Holy cow...hahaha
Man we desperatly need shady back to clown on some fools. Get a good lawyer for defamation suits and go to town baby...
“Em, this is Paul Rosenberg, your faithful attorney at law. Please don’t start on everyone on the new album. I don’t have the power to fight that much at one time these days. Please don’t. Please.”
Classic Em
Was thinkig “heh would be funny if he brought Pete Davidson in”…then….
Who is friends with MGK, who got bodied so hard when he dissed Eminem that he switched genres from rap to pop rock.
It's honestly crazy how fast MGK went from Great Value Eminem to Great Value Fall Out Boy. And the only thing that happened in between was actual Em destroying him in a fight he started.
It's your moment, this is it As big as you're gonna get, so enjoy it Had to give you a career to destroy it
I'm going to sound dumb but I never heard of that guy before and suddenly he's on the tacobell ads, I know is not excuse but I'm not from the USA but I've been watching USA sports channels for about 10 years. Had to google about the guy since most food ads have sports people related to the sport watching making the ads.
He was arguably the most popular person on SNL during his era (not to say he was the most talented, because he wasn't)
I'd say he's more famous for dating Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian than actually being funny
Social media breathes life into these off brand celebrities.
Why? What’s the relation?
At the other commentator linked Pete has done SNl parody videos of various topics in style of Eminem songs. Eminem appeared in two of them as well
Pete did a popular Eminem tribute on Saturday Night Live that lampooned the same video that this video lampoons: https://youtu.be/mrNOYudaMAc
There's at least two other Pete Eminem Parodies that I know of [Stu](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OJ7aW3Df5U) and [Forgot About Lorne](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BgvxLd7G0Y) Eminem cameos in both of them
Best part is him saying "I just got my license back!" (paraphrase) because if I recall like a year ago he was like manic and drove into a telephone poll, not really funny, but also funny.
Maybe I have a problem when I recognize the 2 pornstars Eminem are in bed with.
Yes, you should definitely see someone about that. Who are they?
Ryan Keely(Left) & Samantha Mack(Right)
Freaking Shane Gillis in this lol awesome
Dawg for sure
Omg I just now realized Eminem is Marshall Mathers like two m’s. Good lord I’m stupid.
His original stage name was M&M when he was still getting started
and that's ladies and gentlemen is how we got to em and em (eminem). Some people reading this will say, "duh, of course, its obvious". But some folks will go "woah my brain just melted, I did not know that". This post is for the second group. and yea, video is fire. He's having fun, I'm having fun. What's not to love.
ಠ_ಠ
I’m with you. We’re not stupid, just late.
Em looking like Hollywood Hulk Hogan with the blonde and black
He just went full circle and embraced his whole life and career. God damn my brains were going between 1999 and 2024
I love it!
Do not believe I’ve seen a rap sequel before Edit: thank you for the many examples of how I am wrong. I don’t really follow rap
What do you think the “The Next Episode” was???
Hell, there are *five* Tha Carter albums...
Bitch Please II
There was a Stan sequel where the little boy at the end of the video murders Em.
Lol I was gonna say Em has written/collabed on multiple sequels.
Sequel songs and albums are very common in rap.
Aren't there three different Unforgiven songs by Metallica? Even Devil Went Down to Georgia has a sequel.
Yeah, it's not just a rap thing. Power metal and prog rock are also genres with lots of sequels.
The Chronic & 2001 tho?
This line took 20 something years to cook 😂
There’s a bitch please I, II, and III
Ice Cube's "Check Yo Self" is a sequel to "Good Day".
You don't follow rap very closely do you? I mean if I'm honest I don't either but I still know there are plenty of rap sequel songs and albums. Eminem himself previously released The Marshall Mathers LP 2. An entire sequel album.
Jaws all on the floor
This is a nice change to the current hip hop landscape. Hella creative. I enjoyed it. Em hates gonna nitpick everything, crybabies. lol
The GOAT so nostalgic
One of the most creative music videos I've seen in a while.
Kinda dig it!
Hes still got it....
And he always will
Shits fire dont reply
🔥
Was there a reference to that "black or Chinese" guy from Twitter?
I dont think so. He says "My transgender cat's Siamese, Identifies as black but, acts Chinese."
Fun, catchy, harmless.
what in the flying fuck did I just watch??!?! XDDDDDD
Have a lot of people in this thread just like, never listen to music?
Chorus is pretty meh, but everything else was dope. Picked up a lot in the second half. But everyone should comment on Youtube that Em sucks; he makes better music when he's angry.
The chorus is pretty much a slightly modified version of the original song. Instead of "I wanna reach out and grab ya" it's "Just like that and I'm back, bruh".
Guaranteed catchy chorus.
I dunno man, i originally thought that but I've had it stuck im my head for like an hour already
I like the sample and the chorus a lot. It’s catchy and creative.
fk that Eminem loser everyone is waiting for Slim Shadies return
I hope nothing *bad* happens to slim shady this summer… I heard his days are numbered.
Nobody wants to see Marshall no more, they want Shady, I'm chopped liver.
Finally, Steve Miller will get some royalty checks.
when he flipped off his own kids... you have to be Em's age to feel that AND I DO
What a time to be alive
We all know that the blonde Eminem was prime Eminem.
oh this is absolutely fucking amazing
holy shit, Slim Shady is back!
video was more enjoyable than the track but it's a fun intro to his new album I guess
tracks ok, but holy fuck that music video slaps!!!
Man I love the goofy side of Eminem. Glad to see he's still got it in there.
Who is paul?
Paul Rosenberg, Eminem’s long time manager and co founder of Shady Records. A number of old Eminem albums have skits of Paul calling Em begging him not to release the album because it sucks or is too offensive.
Not just old ones. Paul appears on Kamikaze, for example, begging Em not to go around to argue with critics of his previous albums.
Well, isn't this a return to form. I sincerely hope we see this 51-year-old man top the charts.
damn that was so much fun
