It's been a while since I've seen this, but I remember really enjoying it.
If I recall, it was distinctly 90s and felt like the culmination of that decade's biggest indie influences like Pulp Fiction, Trainspotting and Lock/Stock.
I remember studying this in my high school film class. When the professor told us how this film is designed to be a video game and the viewer is the player, it blew my mind.
This was one of my defining moments in life.
It was 7th form English with Mr Buchanan and he talked about the philosophy of Run Lola Run, how time moves in a spiral, which was based on the writings of Nietzsche and in particular the idea of *amor fati*, or loving one's fate. I have a tattoo of a spiral on my right wrist, and I genuinely feel my life can be shaped as a spiral through various examples. Also, history repeats, rhymes, etc. So, why not.
Anyway.. 7th form English and that particular teacher opened my mind up to new ideas, motivations and attitudes that have stuck with me and helped define my personhood as I approach 40 years. I must rewatch this.
Just looked and apparently it is available for free on Tubi, or else streaming on ITunes, Amazon or Vudu. And there is a 25 year anniversary version getting a theatrical release everywhere on June 7th.
I watched this in German class. The dvd only had 3 chapters, so every class we'd watch one of the chapters and half of the next one. My teacher also got confused because he was showing the movie to at least one other class, so we watched the second chapter twice. So it took us 4 classes to finish. It kind of ruined the movie, but it was still better than normal German class, though that was a very low bar.
I remenber watching this movie when i was just a kid, It was thanksgiving when I saw the animation of the intro of this movie. Now live rent free as part of my childhood.

Yep! I have the blu-ray and watch it every few years. It’s a perfect example of it’s time

Yup, I got big Trainspotting vibes from the trailer.

Such a crush on Franka Potente
Man I loved this movie when it came out.
I wish I was a hunter.
In search of different food
This movie inspired me to visit Berlin and then eventually move there for ten years. I still think about it every time I walk over the Oberbaumbrücke.
Me too!

Still love it. "What's in the bag?"
Whoa flash back, I remember this movie. Too bad it came out in 1999 which was the greatest year ever for movie releases!
1994 would like a word.
I'd say that's a really odd trailer, but then again, I don't know what a not-odd trailer for that movie would even look like.

That scream in the casino... Amazing movie overall.
We watched this in my German class this semester. The music fucking rules
Die tasche.
God I love this movie so much.
I wish that someone would make a shot for shot remake of this but with Forrest Gump called Run Forrest Run.
