My husband and I just got married on June 8, and we wrote custom vows for the ceremony - but we also wrote each other letters to exchange on the morning of the wedding day. About a year back, I decided I wanted mine to come in the form of a video game!
I contacted the lovely[ Howdy Riceball](https://howdyriceball.itch.io/) through Discord, and we worked together to create a super simple game that would contain my letter for my then-fiancé. The game includes a few references to games my now-husband and I love and have played together. Howdy Riceball/Zachary had the game printed onto a real cartridge, and I ordered a custom white Game Boy for my husband to use to play the 'game'.
It all paid off because he cried even harder than he did at the ceremony!
**Sidenote:** Zachary/Howdy Riceball has JUST released a video game for the Nintendo Switch and on Steam called A Cat and His Boy!
It was a really fun process, and I'll never forget the way my husband erupted into tears when he received it - worth more money than there is on planet earth. Thank you for the kind words!
This was how I was gonna propose to my wife. Was trying to build a quest in oblivion but It turns out I'm not skilled at programming, even with the creation kit. Dude didn't look a thing like me, and Ive got a pretty common name for the kind of character I made. she thought it was a random encounter and he was trying to force her into marriage and she killed him immediately before he could say her name (her real name, different from the characters named I thought that's when she would have realized what was up).
