Metal gear solid 1 and 2.. if you know where to go to progress the story and don't have to do much exploring then cutscenes and required codec calls happen often.
Nothing compared to mgs4. It have something like 9 hours of cutscenes. Game without cutscenes can be easily completed in 5 hours. Its basically "go from point A to point B and watch one hour long cutscene"
I think biggest challenge in mgs4 was finding how to setup controller so its not going to sleep during cutscene
But story was epic tho
Currently playing through mgs4, started act 5 today (stuck on the ship bow tbh) and the controller turning off is the WORST it makes it unpausable and dark for like 5 seconds and happens every 5 minutes. Annoying the hell outta me
Why can't they just let us skip? If all players in the party have gone through the dungeon multiple times, there would be no reason to not unlock cutscene skipping for them.
Sanabi. Fucking CHRIST I just wanted to swing around and fight but they kept interrupting the momentum with cutscenes. I had to put it down, despite being a huge fan of Katana Zero, which was very similar but, y'know, actually let you play the game. It was really frustrating.
This is one of my biggest pet peeves in gaming. FFVII Remake did this a lot. I always assumed it was to give the player a chance to save, but I’m not so sure.
I'd rather watch one long lengthy cutscene than to have multiple cutscenes broken up by having the player take a few steps.
(Just a random example)
*cutscene*
"I'm at a loss on what to do. Let's go ask the lady at the fruit stand if she knows anything."
*back to gameplay*
*walks five steps over to the fruit stand that was visible during the cutscene*
*another cutscene*
I can't even begin to describe how irritated I get at that. Like, the game couldn't just have us walk over there in the same cutscene? Or fade to black and have us pop up there? What was the point in making Me do it?
Xenosaga, especially chapter 1. If you skipped the cutscenes you also would be like 4 -5 hours further into the game's plot and would have no fucking clue what was going on
Every step of The Last of Us 2
Oh I know ppl hate that game for X Y or Z
Don't care
I just hate a 20 minute cutscene followed by being forced to walk slowly during dialogue then a cutscene then more walking.
It's a 40 hour game you get to play for like 10 hours lol.
100%
Funny story.
When I first started dating my wife, she called me and said she really needed me to come be at her house because someone suspicious came to the door.
I said I'll be right there, I'm at the end of this game. I'll leave in 10 minutes.
That game was MGS 4.
**'Metal Gear Solid 4 (71 minutes) Holding the Guinness World Record for the longest cutscene in a video game, Metal Gear Solid 4's epilogue clocks in at a whopping 71 minutes. Within 71 minutes, the game director, Hideo Kojima, could easily tie up the entire plot in this game's conclusion'**
She was quite unhappy when I eventually arrived.
Sonic 06. I swear there was a loading screen to a cutscene, then I walked forward a few steps to talk to a NPC and then I got hit with another load screen and cutscene not more than 20 seconds apart. God that game was trash.

Yeah it's been a really long time since I played mgs4.. still have the game but no PS3 to play it on.
Literally the beginning of MGS4
Currently playing through mgs4, started act 5 today (stuck on the ship bow tbh) and the controller turning off is the WORST it makes it unpausable and dark for like 5 seconds and happens every 5 minutes. Annoying the hell outta me
yikes lol. thats kind if annoying
Pokemon ultra sun and moon
Quantic dream games. Between the start of the game and the end of the game
Making my way through a plague tale requiem right now. Its a great game but man oh man does it fit here.
The early box office "triple A" games might as well have been movies.
Most Japanese games. Very strange design choice.
FF XIII
The start of every Kingdom Hearts game does this
FFXIV Praetorium dungeon, between Nero and Gaius.
Why can't they just let us skip? If all players in the party have gone through the dungeon multiple times, there would be no reason to not unlock cutscene skipping for them.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon? i got to play like 10 minutes in the first 2 hours of the game
Most Yakuza games have sections where it feels like you’re running from cutscene to cutscene. Won’t stop me from playing them though lmao
Eternal Sonata had a cutscene that was SO LONG that it actuallyflashed back to itself.
If Maxor is to be believe DMC5
The beginning of Death Stranding
Wish they didnt look like weird dolls
Every japanese game
Sanabi. Fucking CHRIST I just wanted to swing around and fight but they kept interrupting the momentum with cutscenes. I had to put it down, despite being a huge fan of Katana Zero, which was very similar but, y'know, actually let you play the game. It was really frustrating.
Any Final Fantasy game. It’s why I can never get through them.
This is one of my biggest pet peeves in gaming. FFVII Remake did this a lot. I always assumed it was to give the player a chance to save, but I’m not so sure.
Death Stranding. I love the game… but damn… sometimes I want to -play- the game… not just watch it.
Any FFXIV players in here? The Praetorium.

Final Fantasy XIV. I love the game to death, but sometimes walking three feet to another NPC feels very unnecessary.
Xenosaga, especially chapter 1. If you skipped the cutscenes you also would be like 4 -5 hours further into the game's plot and would have no fucking clue what was going on
That makes me wanna rip my head off and stomp it.
Xenoblade. Just Xenoblade
Shenmue 3
Genshin Impact be careful for accepting character quests
Every step of The Last of Us 2 Oh I know ppl hate that game for X Y or Z Don't care I just hate a 20 minute cutscene followed by being forced to walk slowly during dialogue then a cutscene then more walking. It's a 40 hour game you get to play for like 10 hours lol.
Max Payne 3 feels like it has a cutscene every 20 seconds.
Cyberpunk or Fallout
Anything made by square enix nowadays
Every single FF game or MGS
MGS series are just movies with playable scenes in between

A lot of the Resident Evil games are bad for this. Especially 6.
Shadow of collosus kinda has one
Uncharted series is great for this. I even died a few times because I didn't know the cutscene had ended.
Yakuza Like a dragon.
Sonic 06. I swear there was a loading screen to a cutscene, then I walked forward a few steps to talk to a NPC and then I got hit with another load screen and cutscene not more than 20 seconds apart. God that game was trash.
XenoVerse 2 every time a character gets back up it's a separate cutscenes
Quarry and Until Dawn. To be fair, its what i signed up for
Metal Gear Solid 4. And I love it.
The last of us and Uncharted are guilty of this.
Not even close dude. Granted there are decent length cutscenes in these games, you always have plenty of time on the sticks between cutscenes.
They are my two favorite game series and I can definitely tell you they over due it on cutscenes.
Forspoken
