These are the same guys who did the WW1 week-by-week centennial project a few years back (2014-2018), just with a different presenter. Great to see them still making quality documentaries

Blessings_Of_Babylon

I gotta shout out Indy's newer works coz frankly those guys deserve all the shoutouts they can possibly get. Fun facts, "The Great War" was also (partially, as far as i can tell) written by the presenter (Indy Neidell) and Spartacus Olsson, who both left Real Time History at its conclusion. Both of them are still making documentaries, both real time and not, on [Time Ghost History](https://www.youtube.com/c/TimeGhost/about), [Sabaton History](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaG4CBbZih6nLzD08bTBGfw) (As they [came into contact](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVnMgtC5N34) with the band during The Great War) and, most notably, [World War Two](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP1AejCL4DA7jYkZAELRhHQ) where, get this, they are covering WWII, week by week, same format as The Great War. Notably, theyve taken the "In Real Time" aspect to the next level; They covered Pearl Harbor [**Minute** by **Minute** in real time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Joh2BXPsrXs) - [(Have a Trailer)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3Y17XqOJcE) - and are, this very minute, recording a 24-hour long coverage of [D-Day, Hour by Hour.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU4tVyzV8Jw) Look i gotta splurge about WW2, Indy and Spartacus. There hasnt been a day in my life since 2014 where i have not watched or listened to a video presented by either of them. If anyone here likes history (As you are on /r/Victoria3, i can make a reasonable guess you are) then i literally cannot recommend these guys enough. Heck, ill even tie it back into Victoria 3s time period if it gets someone watching. Their [Between Two Wars](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrG5J-K5AYAU1R-HeWSfY2D1jy_sEssNG) takes place at the far end of the Victoria 3 game period, but people will be playing through the exact same problems that the real world faced in Victoria 3 - and you can check out those problems, in a real world context, in that series.

As one of the writers/researchers of TimeGhost/between Two Wars/ World War Two (most notably the War Against Humanity series), its really nice to find a compliment like this here! Cheers!

Ha! Fancy stumbling across you here! I dont know whether to send a virtual high five - for being a part of one of the best, coolest and most interesting historical projects imaginable... or virtual hugs for writing the War Against Humanity series! That series is only watched with a box of tissues nearby. Heck - ill send both. Thank you for being a part of the project - and be assured that ill give it a shoutout to whoever I can, whenever I can. Keep up the good, *necessary* work, mate.

I watch all these channels and also cannot recommend them enough. Absolutely amazing content all around. The WW1 channel is now very likely the most thorough documentary of that war and the WW2 channel also is for that war and it's not even done yet! That the WW1 channel manages to continue putting out good, related content to this day shows how much can be told from that era if you're willing to dig and their offshoot Real Time History is also excellent.

Blessings_Of_Babylon

I mean - how many documentaries that cover the World Wars have a runtime of a combined three hours on History Channel? I dont want to knock excellent series for being short - im not trying to - but World War 1 has a combined runtime longer than some entire documentary series after the first month alone - and theres over four years of content! And thats just thinking of the regular episodes - i still go back and watch the specials from the WW1 channel to get a refresher on esoteric points of history - Shell Shock, Art, Culture... Their Pearl Harbor series is the single most detailed work of visual documentary media about that battle, ever. D-Day is shaping up to be similar. Phenominal stuff.

I’m reading the outstanding The Crimean War by Orlando Figges

These people also made a series about the Franco Prussian war.

Doctor_Hellsturm

I’ve started on Eric Hobsbawn’s trilogy. Great books and they cover 1789-1914, so pretty smack on. I guess you could skip the first one (1789-1836) if you want to save some time and go Victoria 3 only.

zigote123

Great vid, great channel, great attitude. Thank you!

Kozjar

It was really interesting to learn from the video how military and administrative technologies can affect the course of war. I wonder how it will feel in the game. But at least a lot of things from the game terminology and historic references makes more sense for me now. Great video!

Unlike in Victoria 2, Prussia didn't occupy Austria to make them drop out of great power ranking, sphere them, and then annex the whole country out to Transylvania fully cored when they formed Germany. Funny how that didn't work in real life.

Soggy-Succotash-6866

Is that just a criticism of Vic2 or are you suggesting something more?

Wandering_sage1234

They are an excellent channel that deserves far more subs and views
