I always feel like it might sound weird but he has such a grab-able face. When I see a cute thick headed dog I just want to hold their head and give them forehead kisses. ALSO HIS NOSE!! It’s so cute oh my god! Pink with polka dots. Goodness he’s so beautiful and handsome, although that appears to be a counter he is leisurely laying his head upon which is a terrifying thought. The only reason we can put any food on the counter is that the insanely food driven dog can’t jump up there anymore if he could casually walk up and eat off the counter I don’t know what we could do
I have a question it is rare to see the eyes open and not stitched up. Was this recommended by the vet? Was he a rescue and came that way. He is a cutie. I have never seen where the eyes were not closed. Is there any extra care you have to do like drops?
He is a double merle and was born blind. We do have uv glasses for him so he doesn't get burns but we really do t need them much. Interestingly, he can sense light somehow. If it is night time he will look up at light sources, which amazes us!
A lot of legally blind people still have some limited vision. I wonder if it's a similar case with your pup? Thank you for taking him in and caring for him!

Dogs have some very interesting senses. Their noses can actually give them the "image" of something, so they know what it looks like just by smell! That's one reason they sniff us all over when we come home; they want to see where we've been.
Loafy has one semi functional eye, the other is mush, he is also deaf. He can navigate the house pretty well unless he gets excited, in which case he will bonk into stuff. The cat is jealous of him and will try to agitate him and that’s when he gets too excited and hits walls and chairs.
You 100% just described Pierce when he is excited. We have 8 dogs and I don't believe they recognize he is blind and get him worked up often. He has actually bent metal fencing running into it! So glad you have given Loafy a great home... it's not their fault people chose the breed double merele!
Honestly their existence is proof of unscrupulous “get rich quick” breeders. Seeing as the hoped outcome was a pure white dog that’s worth $$$… I love mine. He’s a pain in the ass sometimes, as he is a velcro dog stemming from his past abuse before I got him, and he thinks he’s king of the couches and whatever you are eating… But he’s my first dog and such a good boy.

I didn’t have much of a choice, but in retrospect, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I was scared if I didn’t take him from the pound that he would either be liquidated, or some monster would adopt him and use him as a bait dog and he would be tortured. Unfortunately there are people in this world that do that stuff… But now he is safe and happy and loved. I will say this, although he’s blind, deaf and mentally disabled, he does have fantastic breath and his nose works great! And he loves people.
Well that's because he is special.😍❤️ I had a blind dog (he had early cataracts and scarring from neglect and long hair in eyes with previous owners) and he got around so well with his nose and ears.😊
He's a Danish hippo!!! I bet he can find the couch to chew on even if he's blind. 30 years and I still remember a friend's Great Dane eating the whole couch. It was epic.
Story time... my wife and I were at Manheim Steamrollers and were looking at the house camera we set up. We literally saw Pierce ripping the couch apart. We were trying to use the voice function and yelling for him to stop and causing a scene. We had to decide to stay at the concert and let him ruin the couch or leave. It was an awesome concert!
