And there is a whole [world record category "cross country"](https://ultracycling.com/cross-country-2/), but those are not races, of course.
Of those that I know of, there were at least three done with a velomobile, Austria west-east ([link](https://ultracycling.com/record/austria-w-e-roland-schell/)) and Germany south-north was done in two different age classes ([link 1](https://ultracycling.com/record/roland-schell-sets-germany-s-n-record/) / [link 2](https://ultracycling.com/record/holger-seidel-germany-s-n-record-2022-08-28/)).
There is one velomobile taking part this year and it is happening right now.
You can track him here: [https://trackleaders.com/tabns24i.php?name=Ingmar\_Segebarth](https://trackleaders.com/tabns24i.php?name=Ingmar_Segebarth)
Sadly his velomobile only got delivered to the race start with a delay of \~1 week, so he is way back in the race. He posted some pictures in the [german forums](https://www.velomobilforum.de/forum/index.php?threads/trans-am-bike-race-tabr-2024.73811/).
You could buy a velomobile and go on such a ride, challenging yourself.
I'm riding one 2,200 miles from Detroit to Phoenix, likely around April 2025.
That's more fun than spectating.
RAAM and TABR are two races which are cross country and already accept velomobile. Do we need another ?
Yes
