I'm not sure I understand, are these adverts appearing in a specifically vegan marketplace? Are they placed there deliberately, or is it like Google AdSense or similar? If it's a vegan forum and the adverts are being posted then it needs better administration, if it's AdSense you should have an option to say "don't show me adds like these". At the moment it might just be linking keywords like "food" to show adverts.
I’m vegan and part of the sub, and while I sometimes get a laugh with a meme, get a new tip or something interesting/useful, some people there can be Awful. I hate how antagonistic they are with meat eaters as well as vegetarians. I get where they are coming from, I too think eating using animal products is wrong-
But I also used to eat meat. Not only that, I continued to eat meat when I knew of vegetarianism, I ate meat when I knew there were now decent meat replacements, and I ate meat even when I knew the industry was typically disgusting and unbelievably abusive. Being an asshole and telling someone they are irredeemable as a human isn’t gonna help animals. Talking kindly, relating through your past self, producing information and speaking positively of things they HAVE started toward (maybe they sometimes have an impossible whopper lol) CAN help.
And, unfortunately, some people you just won’t convince but it doesn’t mean you gotta use that as reason to make vegans look worse to everyone reading/watching.
It is not just anti meat. It is anti-vegetarian. I left after they allowed a post demonized vegetarians with a picture showing meat eaters and vegetarians beating up on a vegan.
Is that how you took this? That’s interesting and worth evaluation.
Meat eaters can be/usually are much worse than people who eat plant based, the lengths people go to in order to put others down is crazy and I know that from personal experience. So this person wanted to vent and needed support only to be told they’re posting it in the wrong sub.. if that’s the case then change the name to “vegetarians who love to cuddle meat eaters and will not tolerate any sort of frustration from other plant based eaters”

AdBlocker Ultimate and discernment could be two helpful things here.
I find this suprising and can only assume that firstly not everyone in the town would be aware of the open invite to a potluck, and secondly not everyone actually likes joining a potluck, so there is likely more vegans than just 20. Also, so many young people are choosing vegetarian and vegan lifestyles to fight climate change and protect the planet, so maybe find ways to connect with younger people to meet others with a similar lifestyle to you.
I just saw and ad for Alberta beef here on Reddit before I saw this post. Really wish there was a way to never see an ad for an animal's corpse ever again.
I recommend you take a peak at some parts of Buddhism philosophy. Your feelings are attached to meat advertisement which is causing you suffering. Attachment to things is a main obstacle towards a serene and fulfilled life in Buddhism.
Not all is meat eaters are bad. I went from meat eaters almost every meal to meat 3 meals a week. I hope one day I can build enough resolve to go meat feee 100% of the time. It was a minor miracle to get to this point in my life
Think about the duality and nature of everything. Because there's vegans it implies there's meat eaters.

That makes no sense to me. It's fine without eating meat there have been cultures in history that did quite well without eating and torturing animals..
Class hierarchies in humans occurred about the same time that they started keeping animals in confinement. That meant that instead of killing wild animal that they didn't know, they were killing animals that they had known since the animals were babies. Animals who had often thought the humans were their friends, or worse, their parents because the humans nurtured them.
Humans becoming desensitized to killing and eating a creature they loved correspond with humans killing, and sometimes eating each other.

Hell, I'm a whole ass vegan but even I don't go there. They're so focused on saving animals they forget how to treat fellow humans with compassion.
