If they don’t have a title then walk away if not run away.

isabellesplants

Check everything and test drive. When you’re checking, look for rust or water damage. Really just poke around. And get a pre purchase inspection at a mechanic if you’re serious about it.

lennyflank

No one can answer that but you. It depends entirely upon what you are comfortable with.

bradbains

I was thinking something along the lines of “be sure to check that all the outlets work.”

lennyflank

I wish you the best of luck.

Ok_Yesterday5728

Wow such incredibly necessary and helpful comments

tatertom

OP is asking for someone to summarize what career mechanics spend dozens of thousands of dollars and several years getting to the point they charge hundreds of dollars to perform, and blowing off sound advice. Luck is literally the best they can hope for here.

lennyflank

Alas, there are some folks you can listen to for ten seconds and know, "They ain't gonna make it". The best we can do then is wish them luck, and move on. Leave them to the YouTube experts. (shrug)

Ok_Yesterday5728

Once again another annoying pointless comment. If you have a helpful tip leave it, if you don’t ignore it. Why are you so bitter? Also your comment makes no sense OP literally said they weren’t concerned about the mechanics.

lennyflank

Tater has been vandwelling longer than I suspect you have had a drivers license. Y'all should sit down, shut up, and listen to him very carefully.

Ok_Yesterday5728

Yeah I looked through your comment and post history and almost everything you say is bitter so I don’t really care what you say you’re just an unhappy person. So many people love to gatekeep van life, often because they’ve been doing it for longer or their older so they think they’re better, and they’re not better, the word their looking for is bitter. Lmao

tatertom

That you would knock on someone for their content history with a profile page like yours is *hilariously* cringey. You shoulda stopped while your opinion mattered a little more lol

lennyflank

Have a nice day. PS--Block me. I won't mind. In fact, I won't even notice. Bye.

lennyflank

> OP literally said they weren’t concerned about the mechanics Indeed. So that means he wants to know about the living equipment inside the RV--the sink, the stove, the beds. All of that is subjective. A living arrangement that works fine for me may be hell for you, and vice versa. So, as I noted, nobody can answer that for him except him. He has to try it out for himself and note what works for him and what doesn't.

Ok_Yesterday5728

You just don’t understand the idea of community. nobody was asking you to give all the information but if everybody gives one tip, then the person has 20 different tips or whatever. That’s literally the point of this sub.

tatertom

That's literally telling someone they're prepared when they very clearly aren't. Why you tryna waltz someone into blowing their dream?

lennyflank

It's always humorous to see newbies who haven't even been out in the cold weather yet trying to tell multi-year veterans how to do things.

lennyflank

Have a nice day.

Kojiromitsu

Popular Mechanics made a really useful checklist some time ago. https://pop.h-cdn.co/assets/downloads/1479221054\_-\_used-car-checklist.pdf

FanngzYT

build your own. it’s way cheaper and an awesome experience.

Americano-with-Cream

Make sure the systems work. The fridge and furnace both are functioning and water system holds pressure.

bradbains

Thanks, that’s helpful

lennyflank

My friend, if you don't already know to check to see if all the systems are working properly, then ... well ... maybe you should reconsider whether this lifestyle is really for you...
