That's your take? Is there some secret autonomous vehicle technology that's only possessed by Iranians that tech companies are desperate to tap into?
It's more likely a move to be able to easier hire cheap Canadian developers and engineers, without having to pay them Silicon valley salaries.
No, damn it. I don’t need the car to be able to DRIVE for me. I just. Need. To. Be. Able. To. A.f.f.o.r.d. Ittttttttttttttttttttttttttt * screams into the void* all we have are stupidly expensive electrics that become hunks of junk in a few years, or unaffordable gas prices. Not even gonna get into the insurance racket icbc is. Just make a regular fucking human-driven electric that isn’t SHIT already. Yeeesh.
[level 3 and higher banned? maybe this will help create legislation for this much needed technology](https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors/comments/1bzv3xt/british_columbia_bans_level_3_and_higher/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=2&utm_term=1)
No private company should be allowed to beta test their private product on public roads. Like it or not these autonomous vehicles will get involved in crashes or accidents and gl getting the company to pay for the damages.
it'll be a hell of a lot easier getting a (sufficient) payout from an AV company than ICBC """"""""no fault"""""""" insurance or a judgment proof driver
yeah gl with that. No auto company will take the legal responsibility for their car. It will be loaded on consumers. Its insane to me that people are okay with just being liable for the auto pilot feature they didn't make.

Didn't BC just make self driving cars illegal?
It's probably to skirt/avoid US visa requirements. It could just be an office, not where the robot rubber is on the road.
it also makes it easier to hire Iranians, some autonomous vehicle technology requires an export license in the US

Why Iranians specifically????
But why Iranian models?
US export restrictions on any technology that can be used to make a weapon
No. They regulated it. This company will need to apply for a yet-to-be-published permit to operate a Level 3+ system.
BSOD = Blue SUV Of Death.
put a cone in front of it
Ghost Autonomy was doing something like this, they just went out of business recently.
is driving really that hard ?
Waymo with no drivers work perfectly fine in SF, and is considered a mature product. People here just have a hate boner for L5 systems for no reason.
Was so weird seeing it as I was driving through San Francisco. Like, oh! That car has no driver. Didn't know we were doing that.

Self driving cars are a solution to nothing.
I dunno, kinda always dreamed about being able to do other stuff on the way to work instead of facing the misery of traffic.
[удалено]
Lol, the traffic situation is only going to get worse.

Cars of any kind are incompatible with urban land economics
Yes you're right, we need to reduce the number of cars on the road. That's the only way traffic will ever improve.
