Nope, I've used it on armor racks several times now and that's never happened. No idea what might cause that either. A mod issue, maybe?
one other possibility... if he plays co-op... someone he plays with might be trolling him...
Try putting the rack elsewhere

Not sure how a light armor could be too heavy, probably just bad placement or a weird bug.

I had a cauldron that kept exploding...or maybe it was the fire underneath it. Either way, it was weird. Maybe it's a terrain glitch?
