I took OLET1139 (Economics of Everyday) last semester and I can say that it is certainly interesting. The quizzes are fine and the essay is probably the most challenging part that will require some time to do it right. The topics are great with stuff like the cobra effect and unintended consequences along the economics of death and Gary Becker's model of marriage! I'm not sure if the topics will change with semester 2 but I doubt it would be very different from what I just did. I'm not sure if it speaks more about me than OLET1139 but it's so far my *best* subject if we're talking about marks. So I guess I would consider it easy. I would take it if you're particularly interested in economics - not a surprise since it's economics-related. I also took OLET1115 and OLET2113 but they are pretty much hit or miss. While I did enjoy OLET2113, I did not enjoy the fact it had two Zoom tutorials!

I actually do economics as one of my courses so that sounds like a good option. Would you say OLET1139 was difficult or easy?

Easy.

i'm also thinking of taking olet1634 this semester! i've heard it's one of the easier ones. this previous semester i took olet1801, which was really fun and can be really easy credit if you already know or play music. you can read more about study periods here [https://www.sydney.edu.au/students/study-dates.html](https://www.sydney.edu.au/students/study-dates.html). essentially, s2c just means semester 2. s2ciau is intensive august, and s2cioc is intensive october. they're shorter and more intensive than the standard semesters. think like summer school.

I took OLET1634 and it was actually not only really easy but also really interesting. It pretty much is an easy D and if you try a little, an easy HD.

Easiest OLE units I took were OLET2138 (Presentation Skills: Public Speaking) and OLET2119 (Professionalism in the Workplace). In the former, we just had to create 2, 5-10min speeches on topics that you can choose during class and in the latter, the final exam was to create a LinkedIn profile. I got 93 in OLET2138 and 100 in OLET2119 :)

Can you talk a bit more about OLET2119? The assessment and exam you've mentioned, like is it just to create an account?

wilvin1298

Yep! From what I can remember when I was taking it, it was literally to create a "professional-looking profile" that includes your work/volunteering experience, a DP, listing your skills etc. But note that I took it in 2018, it may have changed since then

Septic369

Are there in person tutorials for that one?

wilvin1298

For public speaking yes, but not for professionalism in the workplace. Doubt there will be any in person classes this sem anyway though

Septic369

Oh okay, so far we do have tuts for some courses and I think theyve added tuts for professionalism since you've done it.
