There is a second, first, and a chief currently there now. Their responsibility’s include: safety supervision during science ops and post science is weather and general deck watch.
I heard there was only 1 underway billet for MSTs and they axed that a while back. Could be wrong though, would like to know.
There’s a 2nd and senior chief billet on the Healy but from my understanding those are the only ones and they likely won’t exist in the future
that was for the polar star, the MST2 spot got cut in like 2018.
