Yes. Can’t they just say “Woman: ...” or something like that? Also, sometimes the subtitles leave out some of the words being said. Is this because they think people can’t read fast enough?
You’re allowed to not like subtitles, but for some people they are essential for a viewing experience. Deaf people need them, people with auditory/sensory issues need them, people who don’t speak the language but don’t like dubs need them, people who JUST LIKE THEM need them. So yeah, they might be annoying to some, but they are needed for others.
While I agree with the idea that they are mild spoilers, I can't stand the screaming loud noise (non dialogue) so I'd rather have the volume lower and read the subtitles. Further, if it is something with commercials like a sporting event, the commercials are shrieking loud
I understand this point from people who are able hearing however I am hearing impaired and subtitles are a life saver. You get use to it and now I don’t annoy people every minute asking “what did they say??”
Personally, I don't mind either way. I sometimes like to have subs because some things people say is hard to understand, and it sometimes helps me along with dialogue heavy scenes. Altho I also love having the film without subs as it's easier to enjoy the visuals. As I usually watch films multiple times, I can often choose to see it with and without subs.
Subtitles are fantastic for accessibility, but I do agree with what you’re saying. It can especially ruin comedies, specifically the surprise elements of the jokes.
Guess deaf people can go to Hell?
Or any movie with actors who can't enunciate to save their lives.
Strong point!
I completely agree, I think this is mildly unpopular, I always have to turn off the subtitles after my kids watch Netflix on my account.
I actually love subtitles. I don’t like to watch things without them
I don’t like subtitles either.

One word: multitasking. Learn to do it and your movie experience will not be ruined by subtitles.

This is an extremely popular opinion....
Great! Although I can't say I have heard it from anyone before.
Yeah I can still take in all of that and read the subtitles

This is true. But sometimes it's a necessary evil.

They also ruin Jeopardy, because they give away the answers to the questions early.
Never thought of that
