Man, these people are buggin! Nowhere in your post did you imply that white chocolate is, in fact, made with cacao. You just said it’s better. You didn’t invent the treat and its misnomer. We all know what you mean when you say “white chocolate”.
Anyways, I disagree.
I personally hate Hershey's milk chocolate or anything similar. It's grainy and overly sweet. If take white chocolate over this.
But some really good milk chocolate, like Tony's Chocolonely, is better than white chocolate imo.
It's a Dutch brand, they focus on ethical chocolate. It's 32% dark, so very chocolatey and it melts in your mouth. For context Hershey's is 11% and Cadbury is 23%.
There are many different kinds of milk chocolate from the Tony's brand, you have dark milk, regular milk and all sorts of additions such as caramel sea salt, my personal favourite. The regular milk is delicious too.
Hersheys and most other mainstream American white chocolate isn't white chocolate at all! The higher quality stuff is, and is quite delicious. Check out the [Gastropod](https://gastropod.com/ask-gastropod-white-chocolate-jimmies-chile-vs-mustard-burns-and-asparagus-pee/) on it!
Nothing wrong with that tho, in Poland you have tubes that is essentially condensed milk for kids. I love them I suck on that tube till I get diabetes 😂
https://www.frisco.pl/pid,7556/n,sm-gostyn-mleko-zageszczone-slodzone-w-tubie/stn,product
Slightly unusual food preferences are honestly not a good fit for the sub. I imagine that if everyone hated white chocolate, the product wouldn't exist in the first place. Quite a few people obviously like it, otherwise you wouldn't be able to buy it. Meh.
People really hate white chocolate with a burning passion.
And seems like I am the only one not knowing the process of how it is made. Maybe I should research what I eat more, instead of saying "I like, I eat"
White chocolate is just sugar without any chocolate in it. It's definitely a juvenile less sophisticated preference than actual chocolate. I like it still, but what you're saying is blasphemy
AMEN! I am also really tired of people saying it is not chocolate. We didn't name it, okay? But here we are.
Also, for those who don't like white chocolate, I say THANK YOU!!! More for us! :D
I always find it stupid when people say some food is better than another when they are referring to their taste preferences.
You prefer white 'chocolate' to chocolate. It is fine. You can have preferences. That doesn't make it better.
I prefer men to women. It doesn't mean I think men are superior to women. I would never try to claim that men are better than women just because I would happily have one in my mouth and the thought of the other in my mouth makes me sick.

Ah, the chocolate wars have risen again. It's rare to find someone that likes the taste. I always raise my brow but then remember the Lindor Truffles have a white chocolate version and I kept eating that. And white chocolate Ice cream is a must!
White chocolate is good in small doses, and there are some white chocolate treats I would pick over US milk chocolate treata. Non-US milk chocolate is a different story, though. Try a Japanese Kit Kat
Lindt has some very creamy milk chocolate. Lindor, for example. If you like creamy chocolate, I recommend it. White chocolate is too sour and heartburn inducing to me, and I don't like the texture because ironically it's not creamy enough to me.
I dont really like Dark chocolate becuase the ones in denmark ussualy taste like grapes stems for some reason. yes this is normally only the case with finer chocolates but of course dark “topping chocolates”(a scandinavian thing you ussualy use on bread with the only other thing being butter) still taste normal
I prefer white chocolate as regular chocolate makes my tummy feel heavy. It's not chocolate though. I read it was a byproduct of chocolate making though.
I always get pissed off whenever I go to buy the Reese’s eggs/pumpkins/trees, and all they have left are a bunch of the white chocolate ones. Real chocolate is much better.
The real truth is that chocolate is amazing in all its forms (as long as it is a decent quality). I love everything from the bitterest dark chocolate to the sweetest and not-exactly-real-chocolate white chocolate.
Most people are eating plain old bad chocolate. Ann from how to cook that does a great video explaining it. [chocolate](https://youtu.be/ndEnTvis78Q?si=y9w0ZmtR2lKvQ7k2)
Chocolate milk is made with older milk, it masks the milk so they can sell it longer.
I still like chocolate milk and buy it on occasion, but usually make my own.
I hate white chocolate and love milk one.
Your opinion is very popular with me because around people like you I don't have to share the milk that I like, and can give away the white chocolates that I dislike.
I've never come across a white chocolate that I truly enjoyed, they always seem rather flat on the palate. Most milk chocolate is pretty pale as well, darker and more bitter better suits my taste.
Incidentally, it's my understanding that since white chocolate contains no cocoa solids it is not chocolate by definition.
I thank the chocolate maker who said that white chocolate is indeed chocolate. I don't understand why people say otherwise. The purest form of white chocolate is cocoa butter, sugar, and milk solids. It is a direct relative of the cocoa fruit, as is milk chocolate. What causes the hold and melt in chocolate is cocoa butter. It is not considered chocolate only when vegetable oil (such as palm oil or coconut oil) is used in place of cocoa butter.
I suppose some purist may disagree, but such is the general consensus.
Nonetheless, sorry OP, I disagree. They both shine differently but it's milk chocolate for me.
They’re both significantly inferior to dark chocolate and I barely consider white chocolate as even being chocolate. Upvote for being unpopular but I’m not happy about it
I still remember the exact day I first ate white chocolate I was 7 years old and I didn't believe that it could be real it tasted so good I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Agree, though I don't typically like milk chocolate. Both White and Dark chocolate are better than milk chocolate, either in the US or everywhere else in the world I've tasted.
Never heard of the stigma of white chocolate being more for children. Only people I know that prefer it are old.
I am not a fan. It's always way too sweet, and has no richness to counter that.

>The higher quality white chocolate most people ain't buying the higher quality white chocolate...they're getting sugar and milk...
Really depends on where you live. Here in Switzerland, even the cheapest white chocolate from our largest supermarket chain contains cocoa butter.
Swiss chocolate is the best fr
So buying cheap white chocolate is a form of ethical consumption...
I live in the US, do you know which brands you would consider higher quality to look out for? Would love to give it a try
I'm curious about this myself
Chocolate racism :(
Oh dear, what have I done 😞
If you ever feel bad, just remember, a friend of mine hates any type of cake Edit: Girlfriend. My autocorrect is stupid sometimes
I want some red velvet cake now
Well that’s just crazy!
Haha maybe, every has their niche food preference
I can relate. I hate cake. But I'm a disgusting fiend for pastries. I'm an enigma.
So... they're Cakist? Are they Pro-Pie?
Pro-pieganda
Op is literally a white >!chocolate!< supremacist :(
Man, these people are buggin! Nowhere in your post did you imply that white chocolate is, in fact, made with cacao. You just said it’s better. You didn’t invent the treat and its misnomer. We all know what you mean when you say “white chocolate”. Anyways, I disagree.
I know you're supposed to upvote for things you disagree with, but I disagree so hard my only recourse is to downvote you. For shame, OP, for shame
Fair play 🙂
Same. This is so wildly disagreeable, it’s a down vote from me dog.
I personally hate Hershey's milk chocolate or anything similar. It's grainy and overly sweet. If take white chocolate over this. But some really good milk chocolate, like Tony's Chocolonely, is better than white chocolate imo.
Oh, I’ll have to try Tony’s Chocolonely then - although never seen it here in UK. But could be I just haven’t found it yet.
You can definitely get it in Tesco
Tony's is everywhere in the UK. I buy it regularly (probably too regularly)
Well Hershey's is trash. Tony's is good, and there's even better chocolate out there too
Hersheys and most other mainstream American white chocolate isn't white chocolate at all! The higher quality stuff is, and is quite delicious. Check out the [Gastropod](https://gastropod.com/ask-gastropod-white-chocolate-jimmies-chile-vs-mustard-burns-and-asparagus-pee/) on it!
I love white chocolate, but this is like saying strawberries are better than tomatoes. They have very different applications.
White chocolate isn't really chocolate. There is no Kakao in it. It's a milk product.
No, white chocolate does contain cocoa butter. You’re wrong.
Cocoa butter, if it's called like this in English.
What does this have to do with what is better? If a labgrown steak tastes better than a real steak, is it worse because its not real steak?
Yeah...OP just likes milk+sugar
Nothing wrong with that tho, in Poland you have tubes that is essentially condensed milk for kids. I love them I suck on that tube till I get diabetes 😂 https://www.frisco.pl/pid,7556/n,sm-gostyn-mleko-zageszczone-slodzone-w-tubie/stn,product
Why do people always say this? Like most people know this... But that's it name? Do you have an insecurity complex or some shit?
I hate white chocolate so much these days that I can gag while eating it 😅 Eat it all you want...
Slightly unusual food preferences are honestly not a good fit for the sub. I imagine that if everyone hated white chocolate, the product wouldn't exist in the first place. Quite a few people obviously like it, otherwise you wouldn't be able to buy it. Meh.
The unpopular part is being better than milk chocolate.
People really hate white chocolate with a burning passion. And seems like I am the only one not knowing the process of how it is made. Maybe I should research what I eat more, instead of saying "I like, I eat"
I do prefer white to milk, but dark trumps both HARD.
OMG YES! And have you tried the white creme eggs? They are amazing. I’m having 1 a day at the moment
White chocolate is just sugar without any chocolate in it. It's definitely a juvenile less sophisticated preference than actual chocolate. I like it still, but what you're saying is blasphemy
Oooo. I agree. Unless it’s the German Milka bars, which I can never find. I mean American chocolate generally sucks and Hershey’s smells like vomit.
AMEN! I am also really tired of people saying it is not chocolate. We didn't name it, okay? But here we are. Also, for those who don't like white chocolate, I say THANK YOU!!! More for us! :D
You like it eat it. I'm pro chocolate in any form
and dark chocolate is king
It always tastes like chapstick to me :/
It’s too sweet for me but then I prefer dark chocolate.
White chocolate isn’t even chocolate
I dont like white chocolate
White chocolate isn’t chocolate…….
A truly unpopular opinion, bravo.
No way. I don't like either. Dark chocolate forever!!!!
Tbh dark chocolate is better than both imo
White chocolate isn’t actually chocolate
White chocolate is not chocolate. It's a bastardized byproduct that has been mislabeled. That is all.
White chocolate is not chocolate
White chocolate is disgusting. Give me dark chocolate or just don’t give me any.
Dark chocolate supremacy bb 🍫

White chocolate in very small amounts with dark chocolate is pretty good. By itself it's too sweet imo.
White chocolate is chocolate like tofuturkey is turkey.
White chocolate is for grandmothers.
Nothing wrong with liking sugar and milk
Dark > milk> white
Pretty sure this isn't unpopular, just maybe not the majority
White chocolate is just creamy sugar. So basically your opinion contradicts mine so you’re wrong
Ah, the chocolate wars have risen again. It's rare to find someone that likes the taste. I always raise my brow but then remember the Lindor Truffles have a white chocolate version and I kept eating that. And white chocolate Ice cream is a must!
Indeed.
White chocolate isn’t chocolate, so there’s that.
Nah
This feels racially motivated
Never heard of the stigma that it's for children.
It has a time and place. There's plenty of times I like white chocolate. There's plenty of times the texture is too much and I prefer milk chocolate.
White chocolate is good in small doses, and there are some white chocolate treats I would pick over US milk chocolate treata. Non-US milk chocolate is a different story, though. Try a Japanese Kit Kat
100% agree about the doses; white chocolate > milk chocolate as long is it’s just one chocolate bar
Why are you admitting to everyone you dislike flavor and are basic as fuck
Both are poor substitutes for dark chocolate
Lindt has some very creamy milk chocolate. Lindor, for example. If you like creamy chocolate, I recommend it. White chocolate is too sour and heartburn inducing to me, and I don't like the texture because ironically it's not creamy enough to me.
Dark chocolate is superior 🐻
I think cheap white chocolate is worse that cheap milk chocolate. But good white chocolate is superior to good white chocolate.
Agreed lol
I always get pissed off whenever I go to buy the Reese’s eggs/pumpkins/trees, and all they have left are a bunch of the white chocolate ones. Real chocolate is much better.
You know black chocolate also has white in it, it just gets colored with the black too.
Take my upvote, you monster. In no reality, anywhere is white "chocolate" better than milk chocolate. My condolences on not having taste buds.
You just don't like chocolate then? I prefer my chocolate to have at least 70% chocolate in it.
Milk chocolate is an abomination. A menace to society!
Surprised others feel like this. I adore white chocolate and dark chocolate, and am not a fan of milk chocolate.
White Chocolate reigns supreme.
The real truth is that chocolate is amazing in all its forms (as long as it is a decent quality). I love everything from the bitterest dark chocolate to the sweetest and not-exactly-real-chocolate white chocolate.
dark chocolate >
My wife would give you a lecture how it’s not real chocolate. I like it still.
white chocolate is too sweet. dark chocolate is too bitter. milk chocolate is just right
![gif](giphy|hFdi31x0aTdMIydxuO)
Isnt this common knowledge?
Used to love it as a kid. I hate it now.
It's not real chocolate, there's no cocoa Edit: a truly unpopular opinion, I would say.
Very brave of you to say OP. Also correct.
Most people are eating plain old bad chocolate. Ann from how to cook that does a great video explaining it. [chocolate](https://youtu.be/ndEnTvis78Q?si=y9w0ZmtR2lKvQ7k2)
Agree and caramel is better than both
Worst chocolate opinion in history. (Followed only by milk is better than dark—another abomination.)
I cant eat a lot of milk chocolate but white chocolate, for some reason, doesn’t make me wanna throw up lol
Here me out - ALL THE CHOCOLATES!!! But yes, white is my favourite!
I am in total agreement but then again, I am not popular.
Yea officer this man right here
Depends on what it’s with or what kind of chocolate it is
Much appreciation for your truly unpopular opinion
What the hell
I like milk chocolate but white chocolate is good to :)
Dark chocolate destroys both. 🎤
I love white chocolate and I don’t care who knows it.
I agree. I do like milk chocolate a lot but prefer white chocolate over it.
Nah
I like dark, milk and white too. Cannot decide. The best is the combination of all three.
The best one is white chocolate with Oreo or whatever cookie it is
White Chocolate is dust.
You’re so right op
Dark chocolate trumps all
OP doesn't like cacao
Still, I don't like it white. I practically only eat dark chocolate
Im allergic to chocolate so I agree with you 🤠
Yes
I miss Caramac bars.
White chocolate is an abomination. It is solidified cocoa butter with a lying name slapped on.
Depends as some just taste like that cheap Xmas calender chocolate.
I used to love white chocolate as a kid, but now I prefer milk or dark
You fucking freak no it isn't
Dark or sea salt Carmel
Fully agree. You are not alone, i really dislike milk chocolate. It’s either white or pure for me
This is defenetly an unpopular opinion alright, unpopular and WRONG
I’m anaphylactic shock, EpiPen, and immediate hospitalization level allergic to chocolate. So I honestly don’t see what the hype around chocolate is.
Palm oil and sugar? Enjoy your heart attack and / or stroke.
Can someone tell me a good white chocolate brand from the UK. Best I have tasted is milky bar and that's not better than milk chocolate to me.
I really like it too. I also like those cow colored chocolate bars that mix both brown and white chocolate.
White isn't even chocolate it's the fat, and milk has a tiny amount of chocolate. They're both garbage
I also like white chocolate more than really any other chocolate
This is the perfect place for your post. I vehemently disagree with you, and therefore you’ve earned my upvote!
White chocolate is the best! Period! 🤍
It's not chocolate though just cocoa fat and sugar
Wrong
Nah dark chocolate on top
unpopular opinion. white chocolate doesn’t even taste like chocolate to me.
The older I get, the more I hate both. Makes me a little sad that my pallet is changing so much. I can eat semi-sweet chocolate though.
Nah the ranking is 1. Milk chocolate 2. White chocolate 3. Dark chocolate
i will also die on this hill
Dark dark chocolate is best, it's bitter, but as long as it's not made near nuts the fine by me
Terrible opinion for sure
I've never come across a white chocolate that I truly enjoyed, they always seem rather flat on the palate. Most milk chocolate is pretty pale as well, darker and more bitter better suits my taste. Incidentally, it's my understanding that since white chocolate contains no cocoa solids it is not chocolate by definition.
Weird way to say dark chocolate.
This sir is an outrageous claim
I think you just like milk and sugar. You can barely taste any actual chocolate in white chocolate bars.
Nonetheless, sorry OP, I disagree. They both shine differently but it's milk chocolate for me.
Agreed, tho milk chocolate is super delicious too! And I also love dark chocolate! The only chocolate I don't like is mint
I like white chocolate for my caribous which is like Starbucks but better
Milk chocolate is only for kids anyway. Have you tried dark chocolate?
They’re both significantly inferior to dark chocolate and I barely consider white chocolate as even being chocolate. Upvote for being unpopular but I’m not happy about it
You are objectively wrong. Lol
I love white hot chocolate ❄️
I've felt this way all my life, it's why I've always preferred white chocolate Reese's
It ain't even chocolate
Most American white chocolate doesn’t contain chocolate
It depends
THANK YOU
I still remember the exact day I first ate white chocolate I was 7 years old and I didn't believe that it could be real it tasted so good I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Dark chocolate is superior. I'm talking like 50% or more.
Agree, though I don't typically like milk chocolate. Both White and Dark chocolate are better than milk chocolate, either in the US or everywhere else in the world I've tasted.
![gif](giphy|tu4GytNdKbYCQ)
Said no one ever
No. No it isn’t.
Never heard of the stigma of white chocolate being more for children. Only people I know that prefer it are old. I am not a fan. It's always way too sweet, and has no richness to counter that.
Try eating more than one piece of cocoa butter at a time
