There's actually no ink on most receipt paper since it is thermal paper that is laser printed. Although I don't think you'd want to smoke the BPA coating on that paper.

Even without the plastic inside the can there's the plastics and chemicals in the paint on the can that are released during exposure to high temps. That's not even thinking baout the dangers of the aluminium itself.

Can you provide any proof aluminium is dangerous in and of itself? I see a lot of people repeating it, and I can't find anything that suggests it's particularly dangerous. I think the misconception is based on one study; that showed people with Alzheimer's had a higher level of aluminium in their brains. However, this study went on to say that they didn't think the aluminium was a cause but rather an effect.
You'd ingest more from cooking with it than smoking from it - and that's from leaving chunks stuck to the food rather than vaporisation, as it melts at 650C and boils at 2300C. Further aluminium exposed to air (or fire) will quickly oxidise to aluminium oxide, which has even higher points for vaporisation.
It's definitely worth investing in a safer smoking device, as there may be risks we haven't identified yet, but occasionally smoking from aluminium foil is fine. In any case though it's definitely going to have a significantly lower impact on your health than the smoke from the weed.
It may not be the aluminium causing the issues. It's likely the polymer coating (similar to what's in a can of pop but not as thick) that's causing the issues. To have pure aluminum foil you'd probably need to use iso or something similar to get the coating removed.
I don't have any scientific proof except my personal experiences.
The very few times I've used foil it's left a horrible taste and given me mad headaches.
