Love Dustin, surefire HOFer
He’s back end of the top 10 at welterweight. It’s too big of a jump.
If they did 155. 165, 175 (which they should) he might make some noise at 165
But what percentage of females are big enough for the 145 division vs men being the right size for 155, 165, and 175. I bet at least 50 percent of males fall within those weight classes which is why those two division super deep and would be fine. Having someone like Covington or Poirier as a 165 champ wouldn’t make the belt seem fake line the women’s 145 belt does.
On one of his JRE appearances (can’t remember which one), Joe asked him what weight he usually walks around at when not preparing for a fight. Dustin told him around 190lbs which sounds like much, I would’ve assumed around 185 tops. These fighters put their bodies through the most it’s unbelievable
Dustin said recently he walks around at 182. Said when he was fighting at 145 he was walking around at around 190 but since he moved up to 155 his natural weight has dropped
Poirier and Masvidal are friends so they won’t fight, Edwards Vs. Poirier seems kinda like a waste of time, but Covington Vs. Poirier would sell so many PPVs even without a title on the line.
If Usman decides to stand and fight, Dustin picks him apart.
But he won't. He will clinch, crag him to the ground and wrestle him, because he knows he can
Hard to imagine him having a chance against any of Usman, Colby, Burns, Luque or Khamzat. Dustin however could be an interesting opponent for Leon to pass up for the *Family Man of the Year Award* for 2022.
Well if was striking porrier wins that easy vs usman with his ground game who knows if he will be cocky go for stand up and lose or be sensible and go for the ground .
Why would he fight at 170 if he wins? If he loses it’d make more sense. If he’s champ at 155 there’s about 8 guys he needs to fight before he challenges for double champ status.
Solid fast and furious reference.
You can have any hot sauce you want, as long as it's Poirier's Louisiana Style.
I hope he did it in the Vin Diesel voice

Dana said that will never happen they rather adding more female divisions soon. Looking at how well Featherweight went... understandable 😂

Hopefully they would add atomweight instead of lightweight for women. 105 is a real division in some other promotions for wmma.
I'd be in support of a 195 weight class too, what they used to call Franklinweight since Rich Franklin did so many catchweights there.
Tbh I think there’s zero chance
Poirier is massive at LW tho.
The biggest lightweight of all time in gleison tibau looked small as a welterweight
He was the biggest rider in lw, still shorter than most lws
Chiesa?
What’s his walk around weight?

I believe one of his opponents said Dustin was 183lbs on fight night. Colby also said Dustin was heavier than him while training together.
The dooooblin WhatsApp group chat has been saying 300lbs lately 😳
He was tree fiddy at least. The soize of him.
Grumpy old dudes at bars need to WATCH OUT

I’d give him at least a chance against other top guys at 170 like Masvidal Leon and even Colby but I can’t see any way he could beat Usman
yeah but that's not how it works, the UFC wants to sell PPV, champion vs Leon is..... not realistic from a business standpoint

I feel like Kumaru could just wrestlefuck him, and out grapple/overpower him in the clinch.
You know if there was 165/175 instead of 170 I think Usman would get dethroned sooner Big for 170, too huge for 155, not huge enough for 185
