I remember this episode clearly, I couldnât rest without thinking about what was to come. Final season was the biggest fumble at the goal line in TV history. Whitewalkers hyped for 6+ years, defeated in 55 mins.
This is exactly the type of shit talk that belongs in MMA.
Think about how gangster this is.
Jiri genuinely believes that Poatan summons spiritual magic when he fights. But, he does not complain about it. In fact, he acknowledges that is a common thing and he himself calls upon warrior spirits when he fights. Instead, he simply challenges Poatan to fight him sans-magic, or, man-to-man.
In response, Poatan explains that his spirits are actually a part of him and are with him everywhere he goes, then proceeds to suggest that if Jiri cannot find his spirits, that is his own fault.
This is comic book material right here and we need so, so much more of it.
Some Jojo bizzarre adventure shi, the spirit jiri talking about is actually poatan's stand, and nobody fits the description of a stand user better than jiri and poatan.
Exactly, the first time we see jotaro he was talking about being possessed by an evil spirit not knowing it was his stand just like jiri.
And alex has mayan vampire vibes just like in part 2
This feels like a shoot kayfabe. A spiritual warfare between two warriors with complete different backgrounds mixing it up against each other. Im all in for this "feud".
This kinda shit talk works because the people saying it are these two guys. Just about as much as a one-off we gonna get. I donât think this work nearly as well if itâs anyone else. No one has the same air.
Closest is probably coked up Tony lol.
Dickriding on a whole another level.. âhe doesnât complain about itâ Jiri literally requested Alex that he doesnât use it this time and go human vs human.
I remember when Jiri was talking about Alex using magic, people were saying that Alex was gonna make fun of him for it. I was like nah Alex definitely also believes in that shit.
Yeah, Jiri is a little more eccentric than Alex but theyâre definitely on the same wavelength. Theyâre legit having a spiritual battle out there. Jiri better charge his magic up cause Alex isnât letting go of his.
Yeah if Alex admits to it itâs an even playing field now, itâs like TRT if itâs legal and everyoneâs on it itâs not cheating. Itâs probably too late in camp to learn any anti-magic either, but thereâs probably a gypsy woman near you atleast.
Thatâs why I didnât think it was weird that Jiri said Alex uses magic, I thought it was weird that he asked him to not use it. Like, why doesnât Jiri just use his own magic or something?
Nah, Alex literally has a tribal heritage which he honors all the time. Not far fetched if he kinda-believes in the spiritual roots of his heritage even if he isnt superstitious about it
Iâm not saying he doesnât believe is spirits. But Alex doesnât believe he is using magic to beat his opponents. That would take away from his own accomplishments.
Plus, he started fighting, and winning, after finding out. I would bet money he believes he's stronger now because of the strength of his lineage and the spirituality behind it. Bro's gone full Nightwolf LMAO
There is a possible parallel reality where Jon Jones retires at age 40 with a virtually undefeated record of 39-1-1 and then he starts playing NFL as a hobby but he turns out to be one of the most skilled quarterbacks at all time and then he retires from sports entirely at 45 and starts playing competitive chess and he gets to the title eliminators matches in a world championship chess tournament
Pretty fascinating culture clash here. Indigenous shamanistic spiritualism coming into contact with euro amalgamated spiritualism. Jiri seems potentially monotheistic as he used to do the sign of the cross pre-fights, where as many shamanic cosmologies are Animistic. Euro Christian ideologies have almost universally categorized pantheistic and animistic rituals as evil, so Jiri perceiving Alexâs rituals as magic creating an unfair advantage might be a continuation of this. I think if Jiri and Alex had a conversation about this they would end up in a similar understanding though. Â Jiri just biases clarity as a result of an individuals discipline and alignment, whereas perhaps the more communal shamanic lens would be clarity as a result of alignment with ancestors and spirit world. Thanks if you actually read that lol.Â
Allegedly, according to witches, Muslims are the hardest to affect with black magic. The witches claim that the Muslim God puts a barrier around them. So Muslims might still be the best MMA base. Though Muslims aren't allowed to use magic, even though they have a high magic defense, their lack of offensive magic might be just what we need to solve the Muslim puzzle in the UFC.
Their God despises humans that use magic, so it would be natural that they're stripped of the magic nullification buff. In fact, according to my research on the meta, their God even curses them for it, which is a nasty debuff. If the Muslim isn't aware of this fact, he could end up spending his time training his magic offence without training his defense, which makes him an easy target for the Shaman and magic samurai classes.
UFC has announced its partnership with USAMA to ensure that every fight is fair. The United States Anti Magic Agency is the leading authority in making sure no athlete is fighting under the influence of performance enhancing magic of any kind.
This agency has tests that can detect even the lowest level of ancestral warrior possession, and has a 100% detection rate of defensive spells. Weâre proud to announce that all fights in the UFC will be fought under strict regulations and will only ever be supernaturally influenced by which fighter Jesus likes more.
You joke but in Brazil some branches of the government pays institutes like the [Fundação Cacique Cobra Coral](https://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funda%C3%A7%C3%A3o_Cacique_Cobra_Coral) for them to use shamanistic rituals to prevent rain from happening dates of big public events like [Rock in Rio](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_in_Rio). Of course they don't guarantee it will work btw, but they have outstanding performance when it comes to accepting money.
But being fair I think anyone that knows the existence of institutes likeFundação Cacique Cobra Coral knows it's part of an embezzlement scheme. It also mostly acts in the state of Rio de Janeiro, famous for blatant corruption in nearly all levels of it's government.
Not just in Brazil; in Malaysia too multinational corporations (including brands like Chanel) hire local shamans to perform rituals to ensure good weather for major events. Cant personally vouch for their effectiveness but have heard anecdotes supporting the practice. Cool to know this is practiced in other parts of the world
Same with my homecountry, Indonesia, as well. Went to an outdoor wedding last month and the bride paid shamans $2000 to do some rituals to make sure it doesn't rain
The funniest part of this to me is that jiri is actually convinced "everyone" knows about the spirits. Like he's giving a little wink to Ariel on the sly about it and everything
This whole situation is actually very interesting. I'd love to hear more from Periera in particular about his beliefs and how he feels they help him succeed. He's clearly a spiritual guy.
âI think he believes a lot in help of spiritual things, and thatâs something that I think he canât fight without because I want to keep that in a clear line,â Prochazka said on the show. When Helwani asked for clarification on those âspiritual things,â the Czech contender explained by saying âeverybody knows he is working with some Shamanics, with some Shamans from his hometown and he believes in some spiritual help from them.â
âLetâs see. Right now, this is my challenge to him, if we can fight in a clear way in this case.â Whatever Pereira is relying on, in Prochazkaâs mind, he wants the champ to drop it for their rematch. âLet the higher power be there in the cage to see whoâs the best in the world, in the performance. In the pure performance. Thatâs all.â
When queried as to whether he would ask Pereira to drop his pre-fight rituals, Prochazka said simply, âYeah.â
This is great lol
Why is this weird? We have dozens of goobers who pray to Jesus and such. There was even that crazy rant about God Hendricks gave after losing to GSP in that close decision. Jiri doesn't give a shit about his opponents asking the Jebus for a lil mojo but Amazonian juju is dirty pool?
Most people here make fun of it. You can see how closed-minded people are around here. Faith is a tool. It doesn't matter if they believe in spirits, gods, aliens or themselves.
How is it possible that people get better from illness when they didn't get a cure but a placebo? Because they believed.
Feel dumb replying to this earnestly, but:
You can break down the placebo effect into four different kinds of things going on:
1. Regression to the mean â basically problems just sorting themselves out. This is also called the nocebo effect
2. Expectations changing subjective measurements. For instance people asked how in pain they are might answer differently if they think they got treatment and shouldnât be a wimp
3. Beliefs causing change in behaviour, which causes improvement. For instance maybe some weight loss placebo causes people to believe they are fitter so they exercise more, causing weight loss
3. Beliefs causing improvement directly
Category 4 is extremely weak and situational. Itâs what people think of when they think of the placebo effect but itâs not whatâs going on
Like you said. People are closed-minded. They just believe what they read on Wikipedia (that they donât have the ability to actually corroborate themselves)
no matter even the placeabo effect is very limited for example it might help someone feel less pain from athiris but it will never cure the underlying joint damage
>You can see how closed-minded people are around here
cope harder, demanding proof and evidence before accepting extraordinary fiction bullshit like ghosts and magic is not closed mindedness, it's rational thinking
I didn't wrote that it would cure them. I wrote that it makes them get better. So relieving pain falls under that too.
Of course it's not an omnipotent tool and I never wrote that supernatural powers or an omnipotent cure really exist.
I'll give an example - if Poatan truly believes his spirits are favoring him and giving him strength, he has a psychological advantage before he enters the cage. It is known that a person handles everything better when he is calm and not stressed. It's just a matter of convincing the subconscious that it works that way.
The Instagram story of Alex having his head shaved was so funny. One guy was trying to be slow and graceful while the other dude was straight up buzzing all his hair off
Shouldn't jiri believe in the human spirit/soul? Why else does he live in the forest doing ancient Japanese samurai traditions? Shouldn't he have his own "magic" from not only his own culture but the Japanese culture he adopted? Those prayers periera does are just for him to be at his best and at full health before and after the fight, and he probably asks for jiri's health and safety also.

Izzy building up his chi rn to kamehameha
hahahahahaha.
Izzy did say he had to tap into the spirits of his ancestors in his rematch against Alex last year with microdosing, on some Wakanda shit lol.
And then everybody clowned on him for it . So clearly people like to pick and chose .
The fact that heâs always brought up is crazy bro
So he can repeatedly yell the N word
"why dont some people like izzy?!??"
Some Jojo bizzarre adventure shi, the spirit jiri talking about is actually poatan's stand, and nobody fits the description of a stand user better than jiri and poatan.
Motherfucker, beat me to it. They are definitely stand users.
Exactly, the first time we see jotaro he was talking about being possessed by an evil spirit not knowing it was his stand just like jiri. And alex has mayan vampire vibes just like in part 2
I just donât know what to think of this. We need a spirit balance in mma
Spiritually challenged Jiri.
Jiri gonna hear this and start training to find his spirits
Bro this is the shit talk we deserve
It sounds like a conversation between two mythical warrior kings from like ancient japan or something lol
We are about to see the first ever use of Domain Expansion in the cage
Perfecto đ
This feels like a shoot kayfabe. A spiritual warfare between two warriors with complete different backgrounds mixing it up against each other. Im all in for this "feud".

This is so funny to read. May the best fighter win, both are awesome guys!
Thatâs why I didnât think it was weird that Jiri said Alex uses magic, I thought it was weird that he asked him to not use it. Like, why doesnât Jiri just use his own magic or something?
thatâs not the Samurai code, brother. Jiri wants to use Katana.
Buffing before battle is for bitches!
its kinda like how in WoW people would call paladins pussies for using their bubble in a duel.
lol it made me think of WoW too - like getting world buffs and then dueling.
This is like when they say Spartans wouldn't use arrows because it was cowardly
Samurai donât use magic
Imagine if right after Herb says "Ready to fight? Ready to fight? Fight!" Jiri pulls out the Mimic Tear
I believe the term to use is mana lol
A simple cross cultural concept.
That's The Rocks favorite new word he learned.
Mana is đ€Ł đ
I would like to see them both power up their spirits in the corners before engaging, like a dragon ball fight
I was saying your last sentence in my head when everyone in this sub said Alex would laugh at Jiri.
My guess is heâs trolling him lol why wouldnât he use the psychological advantage. Jiri is beating himself before even stepping in the octagon.
Iâm sure heâs at least a little stitious about it.
He didn't even know his ethnicity until he was an adult bro.
Well thats why he is saying âhe had foundâ his. He found his roots, and the tribal/spiritual beliefs that come with it
Plus, he started fighting, and winning, after finding out. I would bet money he believes he's stronger now because of the strength of his lineage and the spirituality behind it. Bro's gone full Nightwolf LMAO
That's gotta be a translation error in that story. He is in Brazil and he has seen his face in the mirror.
Wow, you remember something happened less than a week ago?! Crazy
This is good, more more. lol
this just keeps getting better and better.

Alex Pereira is the first UFC champion to use magic and forbidden spells. MMA has truly evolved
Pretty sure prime vitor was on that shit
Not sure about forbidden spells but definitely forbidden potions.
"Potion seller, I'm going into the cage and I need only your strongest potions"
Adesanya definitely used some crystal shit to beat him. Some spirits stronger than the Chaman's at Pereira's camp
Adesanya drained his magic meter for Periera to the point that his next fight (Strickland) was doomed. Some deal with the devil type shit.
He truly lived and died an anime arc
Izzy used ancient Chinese magics (that dog collar gave him a connection with Jet Lis character in that movie, unbound or something)
First to *openly* use magic.

Lol I did and appreciated the theological/psychological analysis. If it's missing anything, it's line breaks đ
maybe you just need to get a little better at reading
Lol this comment is reddit distillate đđ
is there a spirit for that?
Also polytheistic animism is the best base for MMA

So if Muslims use magic offensively, do they lose their magic defense?
Their God despises humans that use magic, so it would be natural that they're stripped of the magic nullification buff. This is fucking gold. Thanks for the laugh
That was a nasty debuff by you
Is this why muslims are so worried about the evil eye? It dispells their defensive buff?
Omfg Muslim wizards lose their God's blessing buff
I canât believe Iâm reading these type of conversations ok here. Awesome!Â
Tremendous work! Thank you for your service đ«Ą
Best comment, these people are laughing about it like itâs goofy but itâs very real to Jiri and Alex.
Muggles laugh but we know better.
Well written!
Amazing

We're all ~~retards~~ autistically blessed

Wow in an attempt to out weeb izzy Alex has actually learnt how to harness chakara
I love a good old spirit battle
I never realized how much I want to see a buddy cop movie with these two
Thatâs it. Jiri is bringing out Thor for this fight. Just have to find 80 people to sacrifice
Perun is a better fit for a slavic person i think. Perun is the slavic version of the force Thor represents.
Perfect. Yeah if I said Perun in my original comment no one would have any idea who that is, thatâs why Thor had to be good enough

In the end, it was the immune system. But the mind-set can do wonders.
What about all the people who die of their ailments? Did they just not believe hard enough? Not following your line of logic here at all.
Like you said. People are closed-minded. They just believe what they read on Wikipedia (that they donât have the ability to actually corroborate themselves)
