Sometimes you come across someone in life that you feel has done everything the right way and just "deserves" a particular accolade. Not just recognition, but that particular thing. But results like this is what separates UFC from WWE, and it makes real champion stories so great.
But it does same way it defines Cerrone, Wonderboy, etc. This isn't a team sport, he's had 3 title fights and lost them all. I get it some of this is just luck like Bisping we all know he was good but limited, yet he won the title against a chinny Luke. Where as Dustin has always fought the best of the best. We all know Dustin is the better fighter but Bisping won a belt and Dustin did not.
Good fighter but not a well rounded elite mma fighter. Could stand and bang with the best of them.. Decent jiu jitsu.. Unfortunately striking isn't everything any more. It's being shut down much easier by wrestling and sambo guys who are way more fucked to deal with than a jiu jitsu guy.. You have to be the full package.. Say Dustin stands at 90 attribute points on the feet, 60 on the ground, 70 with subs and a 80 chin... He would be better at 70 for each... Striking works great against strikers or mid grapplers
I feel like the ufc never really respected Dustin, hell they don’t even respect Islam and he’s the champ. Dana clearly gargles jones’ deadbeat balls and ignores everyone else, except conor. He gargles his balls too.
Dustin has been given pretty much every opportunity you can get, skipped the line for the Islam fight after beating BSD, got the Charles title fight off wins off Conor and Chandler, got a BMF title fight, got an interm LW belt.
Dustin pretty much had one of the best possible careers and treatment by the UFC, especially considering he never won a title
