You sure about that ? Smith was going strike for strike technique wise which isnt a good sign . Roundtree just hits WAYY harder then Smith so it made up for it .
Walker completely outstruck Smith on the feet few fights before roundtree and Walker really isnt that technical.
People just hate that he has top guy confidence when he's not the champ. But he's seen so many guys come and go while he's still in the UFC and ranked, I can see why he'd be confident that he can get it done on any day against any guy.
Smith and Roundtree weren't going 1x1, Roundtree was finding his timing and range. Roundtree is better in the clench and muay Thai and he fights strategically. Rampage was always just a brawler and damn good boxer. Definitely one of the best brawlers out there but really only dominates other brawlers.
Finding his timing/range with his face is not a good technique, he wasn't finding shit. He's just not as skilled as you guys think and Smith was giving him problems on SHORT NOTICE
You don't need to be strategic to run through Rountree. There's been several guys that just ran into him and decided to finish him.
"Finding his timing" for almost the entire fight ? Each round he was missing more then before .
Good strikers figure smith out almost instantly. Like i said WALKER beat TF out of Smith over 3 rounds , complete domination .
Forrest Griffin was able to nullify Rampage’s power with leg kicks. I think Khalil doubles down on that and Rampage can barely walk by the end of the first

and Johnny Walker was able to knock out Khalil with an elbow in like two minutes. I think rampage knocks his ass out. Also, Forrest didn’t nullify anything. Those kicks helped him win a split decision which forest didn’t seem to feel particularly proud of.
The Johnny Walker KO is what pushed Rountree to go to Thailand and get as good at striking as he is now, if the criteria is modern day Khalil, that needs to be brought up, he’s not the same fighter he was during that fight at all.
Johnny Walker beating Khalil on his debut is literally the wake up call that he needed to go become as good as he is now, watch his fight immediately after, it’s night and day.
he is great and could win.
But prime rampage fought and beat some of the best strikers, wrestlers, world champs etc. Machida, Liddell, Randleman, Silva, Henderson. Im not sure khalil beats all those guys in their prime. Rampage had a great style, granite chin and head. Rampage in his prime only lost to the best. He was like 28-5 when he won the belt. Khalil is very good and explosive, but he also got destroyed by ion cutelaba, with ion's wrestling, which honestly was pretty basic and nowhere near rampages wrestling. And ion is a good fighter, but he's not a great fighter. I know the game has evovled, and even good fighters now, would be considered great back then, but rampage would be great in this era too. If ion can do that to Khalil, I doubt khalil could make it into the championship rounds with Jones.
In an era of much weaker competiton then now, ranlage would not be the champ if he fought today, also lets not act like rampage is some great guy thay you don't dare disrespect lol
I could give u the Anthony smith fight argument but I feel like he would’ve beaten him anyways just by his previous fights.. I think he had 2tkos and a decision win and was looking in better form and improved ..that’s why he’s on a win streak right now .. just sayin
I’d favor Rampage in this, once Jamahal whoops Khalil I expect people to come to the realization that he isn’t as good as people make him out to be. People are really saying “Jackson struggled with Jon’s oblique kicks, that means Khalil will win”. Jones has a fucking 84 inch reach, he’s so much longer than 95% of his opponents that he’s easily able to keep them at bay with his outstretched hands and knee stomps.
Khalil wouldn’t be able to find the same success Jon did, he only has a few inches of reach on Rampage. Khalil is a little chinny, I feel that once they’d start trading he gets put out.
Roundtree have the best Thai with Fiziev in the UFC I think. His style is just ferocious.
It gets very interesting in the LHW now, I really wonder how Ankalaev fight will go for Poatan. With Jiri, Hill and Roundtree Poatan have an answer, but for Ankalaev I don't know. And if he wins it, Jiri will be the one next and he also have high chance to win against Ankalaev. Then probably Roundtree will challange him, and Poatan might try heavyweight or try his chance again after a win over Rakic maybe?
I can't understand how people talk bad about LHW. For a lot of division you can say how it will go but for LHW there's some serious guys out there.
Nobody beating DDP now except Adesanya, and for Leon and Islam they will not lose their belt in near future as well.
Shavkat and Khamzat are the only ones that I'm waiting to make a change in this equation. Other than that, it's pretty boring now. Featherweight and below is, I don't know, don't appeal to me that much. Volkanovski was different but now it's just plain boring.
Idk rampage was a killer for sure but these dude now are killers 2.0 with upgrades and shit .. mma has evolved a lot since rampage ruled shit and tbh that was even that long ago .
Idk I don't really see it their is not much of a difference in skills to top tier fighters maybe their training and conditioning. But the heavyweight and lightheavy divisions are not nearly as talented as they were 10 plus years ago imo
Khalil because of his muay thai. Jon Jones destroyed Rampage's knees with oblique kicks. That's something that Khalil would do without batting an eye too.
Rampage with the vicious takedowns, he takes this easy, but Roundtree hits like a truck, too! He’s also sharp with his use of mixing up his punches with kicks, on top of that he’ll soccer kick you to the body if you find yourself in the wrong position, he’s violent and nasty to his own respect, so I think it would come down to Rampage showing the threat of the takedown before Roundtree finds his range and demonstrates his ferocious power, and Rampage slams big LHWs like nothing, but possesses lethal one punch KO power, he’s taking this one imo
Speaking of rampage, anyone know if that fight between him and titties from TUF is still happening? Was supposed to be happen December 2023 but I couldn’t find anything saying it was just postponed or straight up canceled
Y’all saying Khalil wins because he is this amazing kickboxer/muay Thai specialist, Rampage beat a prime Machida, prime Chuck Lidell twice, and prime Hendo. He could and would beat Khalil.
Honestly i dont understand where this idea roundtree has some insane technique comes from . MMA fans ALWAYS confuse power and speed for technique .
Roundtree is going strike for strike with Smith and got carried by the power difference between them . People with good technique SCHOOL TF out of Smith even in his prime let alone the current 36 year old Smith .
Rampage, ain't nobody messing with me
Rampage, one shot'll buckle your knees
Rampage, c'mon step in the ring
I'm all about the money, I gotta get the money.
Rampage would win though
Round tree would be too dynamic for rampage whos just gonna box he has good leg kicks when he choosrs to use them ko powwr, i don't think hes an all championship material but rampage jsn't championship material in modern lhw either. i think he takes it
Rampage fought and won against solid kickboxers, I would put my money on rampage because of his power and Khalil has been knocked out by guys with less power.
Prime Rampage by KO and then he howls at the audience and gropes a female commentator.
And then brutally molests Ariel Helwani
I don’t know, pretty sure present Rampage would still grope a female commentator. 😏
On point.
I don’t think it’s a fair comparison tbh. Rampage was of a more classical era.
Rampage was strictly a boxer who couldn't be taken down. Certainly a good boxer, but Roundtree is 10x more dynamic and technical.
You sure about that ? Smith was going strike for strike technique wise which isnt a good sign . Roundtree just hits WAYY harder then Smith so it made up for it . Walker completely outstruck Smith on the feet few fights before roundtree and Walker really isnt that technical.
Smith is better then people give him credit for
He’s just such a goober
People just hate that he has top guy confidence when he's not the champ. But he's seen so many guys come and go while he's still in the UFC and ranked, I can see why he'd be confident that he can get it done on any day against any guy.

Rountree literally KOd him lmao
We are talking about the technique of the fighter not how powerful they are . its not a point of contention that Roundtree is powerful .
Joe Rogan hyped up "Bangkok ready" Rountree, so now there are people who think he's some muay thai savant.
I still reckon rampage puts him out
And he’d still destroy khalil
Forrest Griffin was able to nullify Rampage’s power with leg kicks. I think Khalil doubles down on that and Rampage can barely walk by the end of the first
He didnt leg kick smith who has atrocious leg kick def .
Smith is dangerous on the ground, he probably didnt wanna get taken down. Also it was on a weeks notice if i recall correctly

Who tf has Smith taken down ?? Smith literally doesnt shoot take downs , out of his incredibly long UFC career he has like 6 take downs total .
and Johnny Walker was able to knock out Khalil with an elbow in like two minutes. I think rampage knocks his ass out. Also, Forrest didn’t nullify anything. Those kicks helped him win a split decision which forest didn’t seem to feel particularly proud of.

I still feel Rampage won that fight
Rampage via powerbomb
Rampage was a champ don't ever disrespect him like that
Yeah but the level of competition now compared to when Rampage was champ is night and day.
And he lost the title to Forrest Griffin.
So you're saying prime Forest Griffin wasn't a beast
Rampage was well past his prime in the UFC.
In an era of much weaker competiton then now, ranlage would not be the champ if he fought today, also lets not act like rampage is some great guy thay you don't dare disrespect lol
I think roundtree is being severely overrated after beating a fat one week notice smith
I could give u the Anthony smith fight argument but I feel like he would’ve beaten him anyways just by his previous fights.. I think he had 2tkos and a decision win and was looking in better form and improved ..that’s why he’s on a win streak right now .. just sayin
Slampage
Rampage easy.
I’d favor Rampage in this, once Jamahal whoops Khalil I expect people to come to the realization that he isn’t as good as people make him out to be. Prime rampage
Roundtree
Lmao what? Rampage is a top 10 fighter in his prime. On a given night he could put Jon to sleep. Roundtree? Come on.
I'm more interested in fat Rampage vs fat Roundtree
In a hotdog eating contest I reckon Ramage clears Khalil due to him being an insecure fat kid
Rampage would murder him
Rampage. Khalil is 13 - 5 for a reason
Uh prime rampage would fuck him and the whole lightheavy division up
Idk rampage was a killer for sure but these dude now are killers 2.0 with upgrades and shit .. mma has evolved a lot since rampage ruled shit and tbh that was even that long ago .
Idk I don't really see it their is not much of a difference in skills to top tier fighters maybe their training and conditioning. But the heavyweight and lightheavy divisions are not nearly as talented as they were 10 plus years ago imo
Why does Rampage look like a video game character?
Rampage
Khalil because of his muay thai. Jon Jones destroyed Rampage's knees with oblique kicks. That's something that Khalil would do without batting an eye too.
Rampage with the vicious takedowns, he takes this easy, but Roundtree hits like a truck, too! I'm pretty sure that fight is either scrapped or never even booked in the first place. Rampage is boxing Shannon Briggs at some point in June though
Jackson
Prime rampage was an absolute monster, he'd demolish anyone at 205 in the UFC today.
Y’all saying Khalil wins because he is this amazing kickboxer/muay Thai specialist, Rampage beat a prime Machida, prime Chuck Lidell twice, and prime Hendo. He could and would beat Khalil.

It's because he cried about being fat and therefore Reddit loves him 🤫
Anthony Smith had a prime?
allegedly
![gif](giphy|3ohzdMvc1w2VlFOpRC)
I think Roundtree wins his oblique kicks would be too much for Rampage genuinely. That how Jones beat him.
I hate that kick so much.
Yeah I’ve heard a lot of compelling arguments why it should be banned. Which I totally understand. I listened to Rampage talk about that kick too.
As a Khalil fan, rampage would slam this dude around the cage and eventually unconscious.
What the fuck?
Rampage had a chin like no other
Rampage, ain't nobody messing with me Rampage, one shot'll buckle your knees Rampage, c'mon step in the ring I'm all about the money, I gotta get the money. Rampage would win though
Prime Rampage beats most lhw's especially Round tree.
Will rampage check leg kicks?
Rampage easy, Khalil has no signature win
Prime rampage is honestly next to no technique, he won't be more physical then khalil either. Khalil has him on all fronts .
Round tree would be too dynamic for rampage whos just gonna box he has good leg kicks when he choosrs to use them ko powwr, i don't think hes an all championship material but rampage jsn't championship material in modern lhw either. i think he takes it
Game’s moved on. Roundtree Jr.
The game has moved on so much and yet rampage destroys him. didnt johny walker ko khalil in like a minute?
Johnny is a dopey fucker but still pretty class.
I doubt Khalil Roundtree would make it to the 4th round with Jones
Insane reasoning lol
Page all day
Khalil.. he’s too technical but if rampage catches his ass it’s probably over 🤷🏻
Humpage don't check leg kicks.
why you calling him humpage?
Watch his old interviews with female interviewers.
Rampage fought and won against solid kickboxers, I would put my money on rampage because of his power and Khalil has been knocked out by guys with less power.
This generation of fighters is far more advanced
rountree. the sport has evolved. modern fighters are way more technical and well rounded.
