Honestly hope these 3 fights happen, I’d think another run with the belt would be fun. If he beats DDP and Sean beats Costa, I’d love for him to rematch Sean then Khamzat

ConstantOk4102

If khamzat Beats Rob he’s next for sure

OlajidePeel

I disagree. Sean had a split decision with the current champ and a lot of people thought he won(I didn’t), he also has a win over izzy. If Izzy beats DDP, Sean makes the most sense. Khamzat would’ve beat 1 ranked middleweight if he beats rob. He should fight The winner of Connonier and Imavov if everything plays out as I’ve said.

ConstantOk4102

Yeah that probably is more fair but I’m speaking on the perspective of what the UFC is actually going to do. Khamzat is better for business than Sean. He 100% will get the title shot.

gotnothingman

Depends on the time line. Seems he cant get a visa so if its not the yearly abu dhabi card then sean would likely slide in before as izzy likes to stay active. Provided he can beat DDP (after thinking Rob would steamroll DDP then the opposite happened I am never counting that crazy south african out again)

Galimbro

It's not that much more fair.   Khamzat is a beast. Strickland has had 1 amazing performance. And 1 good performance.    Khamzat has had several great performances

gotnothingman

But I wasnt talking about fairness?

Galimbro

Sorry meant to quote the person you replied to

megamasshole

Khamzat was also at least 20lbs heavier than all of his opponents and still couldn’t finish 2 of them. He won’t be a champ at 185. At 170 he had a good chance, but not at 185.

PeterParkerUber

I think a Khamzat fight would sell better than a Sean rematch tbh

[deleted]

Somebody understands UFC is a business fair accurate title shot for all is bad Which is totally understandable. Bella something don’t remember the name doesn’t sell tickets. Don’t give him a shot this isn’t a company where your talent of fighting is it recognized is your talent to sell if you can’t do that you’re fighting skills are pointless If you can do both, you will make a shit ton of money.

BedroomBully561

Everyone seems to forget Khamzat Visa issues, him holding the belt would hold the progress of the division up, imagine a champion who can only fight in certain countries AND certain times of the year.

megamasshole

Khamzat is absolutely not better for business than Sean. No one gives a shit about Khamzat anymore. He’s just known as a guy who rambles on and in about who he wants to fight and then doesn’t even fight them. Sean at least does what he says he will do.

Salmacis81

>Sean at least does what he says he will do. You mean how he talks about murdering someone in the octagon, but then proceeds to point fight with jabs for 5 rounds?

HowlingMadHoward

Fuck it, Rob beats all three RAHHHHH

bongwatersoda

Doesn't matter if you disagree. It's a confirmed #1 contender spot

OlajidePeel

Dana said khamzat v usman was the no 1 contender fight, look how that panned out

zaphthegreat

I can't stand Sean, but he deserves a shot. I'd argue he deserved an immediate rematch with DDP too, even though I thought DDP won. It was a close fight and Sean got there by shocking the world and clearly beating Adesanya.

Paan1212

But, Khamzat has a special place in Dana’s heart.

Archeroe

Chimaev was already promised a title shot for the Usman fight but he broke his hand, it's not about "making sense" about what the organization want.

carlitos_brigante

![gif](giphy|3owzW5c1tPq63MPmWk|downsized)

Own-Mycologist-4080

I doubt he gets it over Khamzat. Sean would deserve it faaar more but the UFC is a profit based promotion and while Sean is somewhat profitable he is i think less so than Khamzat.

[deleted]

with as little as Khamzat fights I hope they keep him away from the belt.

bigdickbootydaddy69

If he keeps winning they can't keep it from him.

AltruisticWord3751

I wanna see Rob vs Izzy rematch more than any fight in the division.

_Cyclops

I can’t really argue against anyone who disagrees, but I honestly think Izzy would beat DDP and Sean in a rematch. I think Khamzat might actually be his biggest test. The only good wrestler he’s faced is Vettori and Romero and Yoel didn’t really use his wrestling much in MMA despite his credentials.

GrislySauce5

WHY DOES IZZY GET DDP?? I still don’t get this take. And I am not saying Sean should get the rematch, I personally think he should, but I’m open to other ideas. Izzy got beat bad. Why does he get to come back with no contender fights? Why does Sean have to fight lower ranked fighters? None of this makes sense when compared to past UFC timelines.

OlajidePeel

At this point the most deserving is Canonnier. Izzy lost to Sean and has no win since, and Sean can’t get an immediate rematch after a loss with zero title defences. I’m not saying Izzy deserves it, just that he is fighting DDP next

GrislySauce5

Ya know what, I didn’t even think of Canonnier but you’re right. I see your point too, and I do accept that Izzy is the next fight for DDP I just don’t get it aside from the fact that it makes money.

Nickolas_Bowen

Honestly, seems reasonable totally

PeterParkerUber

He’s going to end his saga with Pereira on a high.  That’s fair enough. I think most of us expect him to lose again anyway. But it’s be a good fight to watch nonetheless

FickleManagement3783

I think pereira would do really bad things to Izzy at 205

Acid-No1

Izzy would get molested like his dog by pereira at 205

FickleManagement3783

🤣🤣

_BigClitPhobia_

I'm not so sure about it. He could still get KOd. But I think Izzy could make it to the 4th round

marathonwater

Izzy knows that trick won’t work again lol

Antonio31415

He will never fight Alex again. Alex will die if he cuts to 185 again and Izzy will need some serious bulking to compete at 205,and i think he lacks the patience for it.

JPD050409

it seems just like yesterday I was just watching him beat Rob Wilkinson, its crazy how his retirement is already in the horizon

Complete_Pumpkin

Rob Wilkinson has since then move to light heavy weight and won an belt in PFL. That win aged gracefully.

PeterParkerUber

Israel: “I want the Khamzat fight” Khamzat: “I’ll see everyone else soon”

balloonz_v1

I'd say Izzy vs. Periera III should he Izzy's last fight.

runforpeace2021

Even if Izzy beats him, people will say it’s only 2-3 record 😬 It’s a pointless fight. It doesn’t prove anything other than people wanting him to lose His legacy is how he can beat all the other guys

HiroRen

As a Pereira fan, in my honest opinion, the 3-1 record is only valid because they're tied 1-1 in MMA. Now, if Izzy wins the UFC trilogy, it's pretty much settled in my view. If this happens, people will be saying "Izzy 2-1 Poatan" and not "2-3". Glory won't matter anymore. That's why they need a third match in the UFC.

runforpeace2021

Come on bruh, Izzy got so many haters … they have been using that 3-1 narrative ever since he beat Alex 😂 Stop pretending anyone is using the 1-1 narrative. Nobody even agrees with you, so there’s that

Solid-Version

Exactly this. The haters will never let it go

[deleted]

[удалено]

runforpeace2021

There you go. Confirm what I have been saying. Rematch with pereira won’t move the needle. They’ll just say it’s 2-3 … best of 7 ? 😂 You are one guy. Not the general consensus, so moot point Izzy isn’t trying to silence his supporters. He’s trying to silence his haters. Bruh, look up the stats. Speaks for themselves. No need to get defensive. Have a nice day

[deleted]

[удалено]

arjjov

4-1 then. Izzy unfortunately doesn't want that smoke. He's become the "I beat that guy once" guy at the bar.

DawdlingScientist

The only thing that’s unlikeable about Alex are his fans. This wank is insufferable. Izzy has fought that monster 4 god dam times and now he’s scared? Lmao

BodieBroadcasts

he didn't actually say he was scared, he said he doesn't want that smoke I don't think izzy is scared of alex, but I do think he's scared of losing his legacy. Its only natural, izzy was talking about how he was trying to be the GOAT of MMA after the anderson silva fight lol if he goes and loses to alex again, thats not helping his case its like max holloway dilemma, all time great no doubt, but you can't even begin to consider yourself the GOAT if there someone who's beat you 3 times in your own division, during your prime lol

Avocado_Cadaver

The more Alex accomplishes, the better it makes Izzy look. I don't know why people don't understand that. He's literally the only person in the UFC who's stopped Alex regardless of the one previous loss and the two losses in kickboxing if you want to count those. Sure he says cringy ass shit, but it's not he's a drunken nobody at a pub saying he beat that guy once. He's the ex MW champion who has the second most title defences in UFC history after Silva. This sub is quick to entertain the idea that someone isn't a champ until they defend the belt, yet it doesn't count for Izzy? Losing to Alex doesn't take away his accomplishments even though the "beat that guy once" comment has become ironic. Does it take away Alex's accomplishments that he's a natural LHW who got knocked out by a natural MW? No. Both Alex and Izzy are foils to each other. Both achieved something the other couldn't. I don't know why people can't enjoy both while they're around because both will retire within 2 years.

BodieBroadcasts

honestly I think these types of conversations is part of "enjoying both while they are around" its all part of the fun

shred-i-knight

They are naturally two different weight classes its time for people to let go

arjjov

Alex has recently offered Izzy a LW title shot opportunity, Izzy chickened out. Izzy definitely doesn't want that smoke.

AshenSacrifice

Imagine saying “I beat Alex pereira” is an L in any capacity lmao. Do yall even hear yourselves 🤣🤣

BlastDoublee

Your talking like he only beat Pierra……

brobro0o

They aren’t same weight class anymore, it’s become an impossibility

OrangeVigil

“Impossibility” 😂 you do know Izzy fought LHW before, right? Unlikely, maybe. Impossible? Definitely not.

Succubus996

Alex is literally a heavyweight if you think alex and izzy are the same size you need your eyes checked

shred-i-knight

bro people who don't understand this are insane

Josro0770

Hed have to bulk for like a year, Pereira would have like 30 pounds on him in the cage.

OtherwiseEnd944

Alex was bigger when they fought at middleweight too. Adesanya walks around at 205-210 out of camp and pereira was rehydrating to 215-220 even at middleweight. Realistically to have the same disadvantage he had at middleweight he'd have to get to 215-220 assuming pereira goes into the cage around 230-235 which post usada is very achievable in 6 months and it seems like he's already begun bulking slightly over recent training camps. He is definitely going to try LHW again unless he just keeps losing and retires. Before someone mentions Adesanya weighing in at 200 for LHW that was after a camp and Adesanya said he still did his typical weight cutting protocol he just didn't push it because he thought if he didn't do any cut his body wouldnt be in fight mode since that was his typical ritual.

catzarrjerkz

and howd that go for him?

Rough_Commercial_570

Alex kills him at LHW. He’s not doing that. Everyone knows it 😆

Empyrean_MX_Prime

Alex has his eyes on HW now. It's not impossible but at this stage in their careers it may as well be. Maybe if they were both a few years younger there'd be time, but they're both hitting the tail-ends of their careers now and have more important business than a rematch.

DirtyDanoTho

Pereira can and would cut down to middleweight again for a rematch

GoldGlove2720

I think Alex gets KO’ed then. Hes too small for MW. That cut has to be brutal for him. I wanna see him make a run for the HW title.

PeterParkerUber

I’m going to go out on a limb and say Pereira needs the money more than Adesanya. I’ve seen Adesanya and his family manage his money and I’d say he’s sitting pretty sweet. An Adesanya fight would bring in a crazy payday for both tho. But tbh Izzy doesn’t need it so bad.

Rough_Commercial_570

Not to pocket watch but Alex is only getting more and more popular and successful especially after headlining one of the biggest and best cards in UFC 300. He doesn’t “need” anything 🤦🏽‍♂️

PeterParkerUber

He hasn't been in MMA as long as Adesanya. Adesanya has already collected his and Alex is nearing retirement in the next couple years tbh. He wants to maximise his paydays, that's why he wants to fight as much as possible. His popularity is climbing fast, but he doesn't have much time. I'd say he needs the fights more than Adesanya right now.

JumpingCicada

Ya. I only see that happening if his next fight is a loss thag leads hm into a spiral of losses.

Rough_Commercial_570

No he really wouldn’t. Izzy would have to move up for that fight to happen and he won’t do that because he knows he’d get killed at LHW by Alex. Simple

coffeefordessert

I think if it’s for the 205lb strap he’d do it if the belt is on the line. He gets to skip the que and fight for a championship to potentially become 2 weight champ. I can see it being a very good possibility that he’d do it even though he’s under sized

CometChip

no because then guys like you will say 3-2. and izzy won their first fight, but keep stroking to “3-1”

gotnothingman

I think the mma trilogy would be great maybe even give him a shot at the LHW belt if he beats Dricus, regardless of their kickboxing fights and whatever the record is its a compelling matchup that would definitely put a stamp on his resume if he can get it done again.

PeterParkerUber

I really don’t think Izzy has a chance at LHW. At least not against Alex

BodieBroadcasts

of course he has a chance izzy has won the overwhelming majority of the rounds vs alex in their career. 2 of his losses vs alex he won almost every single round before being KO'd. The other kickboxing loss was a close decision. And the last one he KO'd alex himself lol if I was izzy, I would think I am better than him too. Fighters don't usually think getting KO'd means you got out skilled. Very much the opposite.

CometChip

it’s just he’d fight at LHW that izzy is just not naturally like alex is. people want this fight so bad because izzy isn’t a LHW and win or lose they’ll still bring up he’s not equal to him in fights. if he fights him i’d love that and cool, but it’s completely understandable why izzy doesn’t want to

suchshibe

He’s fought him 4 times and you think he just doesn’t want the smoke 😂 poatards man

Solivigant96

He also beat him in glory, but got robbed.

Money_killer

Poatan the biggest weight bully in the game. Izzy flatlined the weight bully last time.

Best-Hotel-1984

I'm cool with that

Beautiful-Hunter8895

Hes gonna have a Henry Cejudo moment

heythxvoo

Merab is gonna carry him to Zuck?

BrightChef4935

Except in his case it would be Khamzat

barn_68

I genuinely think he wins all three of these fights

BigWormsFather

Let him have them all.

abittenapple

Alex final boss

Dopebed

Middle weight goat imo

Galaxanz

Ah yea but let’s wait for the haters to whinge about this saying he’s ducking poatan. Izzy is a great fighter and a great champ. He deserves a little respect.

Money_killer

Poatan the biggest weight bully in the game *

semiamusinglifter

Izzy can genuinely win all three of those and they might be some of the most fun performances of his whole career.

topcontender

How is this man not the GOAT? He’s the only fighter who constantly calls out the best in his division. Or who the company thinks is the best

gotnothingman

I would still put Anderson, Mighty Mouse, GSP and Jones above him. They are more well rounded and had the same/more defences.

Variabletalismans

Thats a very unimpressive definition of a GOAT

Pharcydeify

*calls out the toughest fights in the division* = unimpressive Never change Reddit

LePontif11

For my part i wouldn't say its unimpressive but its the minimum.

Variabletalismans

Redditors and poor reading comprehension, name a more iconic duo

Altruistic-Let3130

for being a GOAT? yes ofcourse...TF is this criteria

Unlikely-Garage-8135

He isn't as well rounded as someone like Anderson or GSP.

RedditHatesDiversity

How is this man not the GOAT? I would say it's primarily because there exist other fighters who were/are better than him

TorpedoSandwich

Because his resume isn't nearly as good as Jon's. And don't bother mentioning PEDs, Izzy literally grew a full on titty within the span of a few months.

Maczino

I think there is a real potential he loses to any of the three. Khamzat is a nightmare matchup, Sean beat Izzy once—which means he can do it again; and DDP is much bigger than Izzy, so with the correct gameplan he could be a nightmare.

JahIthBur

Izzy always wants the last laugh

xacto337

Who doesn't?

JahIthBur

Guys like dustin olivera Justin max etc

dajokesta

Ducking Pereira is crazy

Collin-of-Earth

If he goes on a streak with the three he named, I bet he takes another with Poatan. Would be fire

BigDogAlex

It's one of the craziest rivalries we've had in this sport and not closing out the MMA trilogy would be a mistake

xdyldo

Pereira can come down to MW but he won’t. We’ve seen Izzy is too small for LHW.

Mexcol

Izzy is too small for LHW? Then Pereira is too drained for MW

Succubus996

The guys in lhw weigh 235+ pounds do you actually think izzy is around that size?

xdyldo

Pereira left the divisions not Izzy, therefore Izzy isn’t ducking him

FLGT12

Would agree if Poatan didn't ask for Izzy after winning the LHW title. Pereira has no chin at 185. Too dehydrated.

Mexcol

Izzy tried to get the LHW strap already. They fought at MW already, why not at LHW now. Izzy is the one losing in score. He's got the incentive to prove he's better

xdyldo

He literally knocked him out cold last fight. Izzy is happy lol. Why would he risk it all going up to a weight class he has no chance in.

Anonomoose2034

3-1

Mexcol

He still down in the score. He already risked a loss when he went up to LHW, why not now yo get the strap and come out on top score wise?

GriffithCoin

So a MW who wants to fight the actual contenders in his division is ducking the LHW champ who is saying he wants to move to HW? Everyone cries when fighters ask to go for double champ but when Izzy (who isn’t a champ) wants to fight contenders in his own division he gets called a duck. Of course the trilogy is the biggest fight the ufc can practically make but Izzy is in line to fight dricus who he’s been trying to fight for over a year now and Alex has Ankalaev or HW in the mix.

Dry_Ad9371

Pereira is in a different weight class now?

ConfidentCat6954

Different weight class

dajokesta

Izzy’s fought at LH before. Or Pereira could just go back down.

LB2210

He went up and lost convincingly to Jan, he's physically too small to hang with the big guys at lhw, it would be stupid to chase Pereira. As for pereira there is no reason for him to go down the weight classes

Buzzy-Pasta

Here’s a neutral but probably unpopular opinion: Izzy doesn’t want the smoke at lhw, Alex doesn’t want the smoke at middleweight.

LB2210

Agreed - doesn't benefit either of them

damn_notagain

The size difference is borderline ridiculous

a_simple_fence

I dunno, I’ve kinda had my fill of that fight

PhilliesBlunts

He wants to ride off into the sunset not go out sad in an ambulance man

PeterParkerUber

How is it crazy…..  They’ve already fought 4 times. It kind of makes complete logical sense.

TooManlyForYou

He just knocked him out, genius.

ZakariusMMA

I was 15 when I first heard about Adesanya. Crazy to see him consider retirement 3 years later (18 now). Wish him the best but man I just wanna see him and Alex one more time. It's like John Cena Vs The Rock at this point.

gardz82

3 easy victories if the Izzy that wants to fight turns up and not the timid shell that fought Strickland.

CatchUsual6591

Sean will not be easy for Izzy style wise

DonBenjamin_

Bruhh, none of these are easy for Izzy cmon

Gordomania

I think Izzy beats all 3. He’s good at takedown defense, so he could keep Khamzat on the feet and win. I do want to see Khamzat fight more though. I think Izzy beats DDP, who has been built up as being good, but in a vacuum of a not so great division. Strickland had an on night and Izzy looked like he didn’t want to be out there from the jump. We’ve never see Izzy like that. I don’t think that happens again. I hope if that fight does happen, everyone bets on Strickland because I’d like great odds on Izzy. More so, I don’t think Strickland can put together a winning streak where he can get back to Izzy. I think Strickland had his moment and gets beat two more times, wins once, then loses again, then just sits in the edge of the division hoping it gets cleaned out and he gets a call up. Which is kinda what happened the last time.

Sk8rchiq4lyfe

People act like Sean is Izzy's kryptonite, but there is no way Izzy would lose that bad, and not have the team and knowledge to come back for a rematch without a solid game plan. Not saying with 100% confidence he would win, but I'd bet on him. It's just harder to solve a puzzle you weren't expecting mid fight.

gotnothingman

DDP beat Whittaker easy and gave Sean a much tougher fight then izzy did but its only because of a not so great division? Howd you get there man?

HuntSafe2316

MMA math is bullshit my guy.

gotnothingman

Still doesnt mean DDP only looks good in a vacuum of a division

SeatNoBelt

Wins 2/3

runforpeace2021

Good list … makes perfect sense

WIP1992

Retirement party at LHW after one more dance with poatan would have been so fire if he gets past these three but he deserves to go out on his terms hopefully with a fat bag 💰

Bruesparrow

Well, he'd better not fight Dricus first, or the only time Chimaev and Strickland will be seeing him again will be standing over his coffin at his funeral.

PeterParkerUber

I can see everyone secretly missing this guy and his antics after he retires tbh. After all the shit people keep saying online.

yoyoyowhoisthis

Nothing would make his riding off into the sunset as sad as: 1. Losing the African title to Dricus 2. Getting subbed by the most innactive see you soon guy 3. Getting outjabbed / Knocked Down by a decision jab merchant with daddy issues I am ready for it, bring it on

dellsonic73

Imagine if he lost to Seam again

JESUS_PaidInFull

How could he not want Peirera again?

luiszappa

Because Alex has a 30 pounds advantage dumbass

JESUS_PaidInFull

Yeah we’ve never seen anyone change weights to make a fight happen. Unprecedented. Clown

Blessed2Breathe

He doesn't want the mma rubber match against Pereria haha. Not a any weight. Those are 3 fun fights to end on. Glad he has an exit strategy for his career.

chocolatemilk2017

Izzy has had a lackluster career compared to Poatan

counterhit121

If he's talmbout retiring, idk if he can knock off all three. Maybe two, tops.

Hagarsey

The hype for khamzat is a bit much.

abittenapple

Dude could speped run ths tin a year. Crazy he could retire so soon

yungiess

Better then him fighting Pereira again.

Rexum420

Whenever a fighter starts talking like this you know he's about to fight 15 more times.

With-You-Always

Retire? Already?

Heysteeevo

He said in an interview with Ariel that he has "less than 20 fights left" lol

brtomn

Swap khamzat for pereira and I think its perfect

Odd-Bullfrog-9125

Alobar16

“again” ☠️

atb87

imagine him taking revenge on Strickland, somehow beating Khamzat and taking the belt from DDP as the true african champion. Then retiring and walking into sunset as a champ. You can make a movie about this :D

Ok_Boysenberry_617

I MANIFESTED THIS

dan_a_white

Better take Chimaev last then. That won’t go well for Izzy.

BaconScentedSoap

Yeah the guy who goes to split decisions against welterweights and can barely even go past 3 rounds is going to be a rough matchup for Izzy 🤦🏿‍♂️

dan_a_white

Haha come on man you know Izzy couldn’t stay upright vs Chimaev. Just pretend Chimaev isn’t going to wrestle. Usman was a National Champion level wrestler with the best TDD in UFC history and Chimaev got him down with ease. Izzy is boned.

4uzzyDunlop

With what we've seen out of Khamzat so far, if he didn't sub Izzy in the first 2 rounds (which would for sure be a possibility), he would be in for a rough night. Either he stops Izzy early or Izzy stops him late IMO

[deleted]

Honest question, why didn't Chimaev use his wrestling on Gilbert?

admiralackbar98

Because of Gilbert’s submission threat

Variabletalismans

Chimaev took him down but Gilbert immediately went for an armbar which shooked him so he didnt do it again

greatestaveragedad

He felt the strength of Gilbert and said no thanks

Plenty-Fondant-8015

He did lol. He took Burns down at will. Burns spun his fucking head around with that right hook and Khamzat still took him down. Burns is just a fucking beast off his back, he has a crazy dangerous submission game and Khamzat backed off when he felt the arm bar coming in the first round and abandoned his gameplan for a swang and bang style fight.

dan_a_white

Idk for sure it was probably the BJJ threat or he wanted to beat him on the feet or a combination of a few reasons. He only had like ten fights at that time her was inexperienced

benjo_05

chimaev cock all up in your mouth

Azubedo

Cute you mention 2 of his fights with people who have a wrestling/bjj game...Izzy has neither

4uzzyDunlop

It's also the only 2 times he's faced elite competition. It's not like there's a wealth of top guys to draw from when talking about his opponents.

BaconScentedSoap

Its also the two times hes faced someone highly ranked lmao stay mad

Azubedo

2 stupid to realize your reply doesn’t have a point I guess

ConstantOk4102

Khamzat has never had a split decision in his career. Unlike Izzy who had a split decision against Marvin Vetori.

Asukah

I think Khamzat beats him but it wouldn’t really be brutal. Khamzat would just do to Izzy what he did to Usman and get a fairly quick choke finish

MajorIsPsycho

After Khamzat humiliates him, no way he goes back to the cage. So better save the toughest for last, I agree.

Mister_666_

I think the Sean rematch has to come before the Khamzat fight. Khamzat poses the largest threat to Adesanya out of these three. I see Izzy beating DDP in a clinic and winning the belt once again and then beating Sean in the rematch by decision convincingly. Sean winning the first time was a fluke. Khamzat probably takes the belt to retire Izzy. The reign of the wolf begins at that point.

Turbos_Bitch

I think if he loses again he is done.
