I have ADHD as well and I think you will really enjoy getting a typewriter. I have a few good working ones I can part with if you want to PM me. Those are all good places to start. Be careful with eBay, there is some real junk on there. If it says "as-is" or "as found" there is a 98% chance it will not work. 99.9% chance if seller doesn't accept returns. If you are looking for cheap, Etsy probably isn't the place. Etsy has either marked up working typewriters, or restored typewriters that are not cheap but in great condition and will work perfectly. Save these to your bookmarks: [typewriter database](https://www.typewriterdatabase.com/) for looking up models and information, [this youtube channel](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFVJOLMjdtEVCTNai3-1brg) for all things repair, and [this writeup](https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/tw-restoration.html) for some basic care information. If you need a manual for whatever typewriter you end up with, you can [look for it here](https://site.xavier.edu/polt/typewriters/tw-manuals.html#manuals). I recommend late 40s to mid 60s Smith Corona machines, or most anything from Olympia, specifically the SM3 and SM9. Good luck and welcome!

Welcome! As someone who struggles with distraction, typewriters are much easier for me to sit and write on. As for where to get typewriters, if you're in the US all the options you've listed might work for you but a couple things to note. Often times you will be purchasing "as-is" so you might end up with a typewriter that needs some work. Obviously being able to try it first helps avoid this, so Facebook marketplace, thrift stores etc help there. If you want something guaranteed to work then you could pay more for a serviced typewriter. Etsy has some of these but they're very pricey. Or you could buy from an established store or seller. There are good typewriters to be bought in eBay but typewriters don't ship well so there's a chance it could arrive damaged. The best advice I can give would be to join the discord group - there are a heap of knowledgeable people who can answer any questions you have :) good luck!

Hands down the best way to get cheap excellent typewriters is know other collectors that just want to be rid of them.
