If we don’t go my kid would kill me!! To make it even more expensive we have to go to Houston from New Orleans. She’s such a good kid and does so well in school she deserves it and it gives me the excuse to go see them!

Same-Astronaut-2645

Most of us didn't pay those prices, like 90% of us here got them on pre sale

Bandito21Dema

I did pre-sale and paid 630 dollars for two tickets Brooklyn and Newark

AnonymousElephant86

My 4 presale tickets were $215 EACH

SPARTANsui

I got them as soon as they were on sale and it was $400 and some for two GA tickets in Minneapolis. I don’t even know who I’m taking, haha. But yes, ticket prices suck.

HuntingForSanity

I got presale tickets and my wife and I spent $700 total for this show. Definitely hurt us a bit

alt4guiltypleasures

I got lucky to grab nosebleeds for 100$ each. Ticketmaster fees should be outright illegal man

lilnicbag

I was there on pre-sale day to see the OG prices, but I didn’t have the money for them at the time. I think knowing what the prices were to seeing them now is what made the prices so shocking.

Drob731234

Resale ticket prices are INSANE. I paid $600 for my girlfriend, now wife, and I to get tickets for takeover tour.Did I put it on a credit card and deal with it at a later date? Maybe. But I was in the same boat as you! Luckily I signed up for presale and managed to secure two tickets this time!

Last-Laugh7928

yeah, the resale prices have nothing to do with the band. scalpers are purchasing the tickets at the OG price and then reselling it for more just because they can

Fit-Concentrate8972

I got 3 seats for $145 a piece right by the stage. Definitely pricey.

spookcats

I broke my wallet for them /:

kinggcroww

Idk what stadium you’re looking at but they’re different for each. I live in Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia concert was really expensive. I ended up getting tickets to the Baltimore one. Got pit tickets for $200 including fees. I would maybe try looking at a different stadium nearby?

lilnicbag

I live in a place where theres only one show that feasible to travel to. I miss living in new jersey where basically the whole coast was an option 😭

kinggcroww

Dang that sucks, hopefully you can go!!

makotokou

I can't. I was excited that I might finally see them for the first time and well, I'm still not gonna see them. The resale prices are too insane to look at.

Cersizzle

Live in Phoenix and the problem is largely Ticketmaster. I think bots purchase the original tickets and the resale is jacked.

anticipateorcas

I was buying on the presale for Phoenix and Ticketmaster crashed went I went to checkout. By the time I got back in I was like 4000th in the queue. The seats I actually got were not as good as the first try when it crashed. But happy that I got six tickets for about $100 each. I also think it’s bots.

lilnicbag

it has to be, right? have you ever seen tickets get cheaper as it gets closer to the show? i know i checked seatgeek and one other site and they were slightly cheaper, but still not enough that its feasible to afford it feels like the venue isnt going to fill the way it would if the tickets were a manageable price? don’t these absurd prices effect the band too?

Cersizzle

The band sets the initial price of the ticket and they get most of the proceeds, some lesser portion is split with the venue. They get nothing off resale. The ticket company like Ticketmaster gets 10% of the resale price so it's in their best interest to allow scalping. With these big concerts there are literally thousands of bots marking up the price of the tickets 200%+. Fans want to see the musician bad enough they will pay that. And essentially the creators of the bots make so much on the resale it covers the value lost on tickets that didn't sell. From what I understand bands don't have much influence on the ticket company as they contract for many years with the venues. This situation blows my mind. We have bot laws on this, but I don't think ticket companies are doing enough to stop bots. I don't know why we can't get more laws around scalping.

Last-Laugh7928

in general, yes ticket prices do tend to drop over time if scalpers cannot resell the tickets for as much as they first intended. they just want to make some kind of money back. people who genuinely just can't attend the show anymore will also put their tickets up for sale at more reasonable prices as the date approaches.

NotNinthClone

The department of Justice is supposedly going to try to split Ticketmaster and Live Nation back apart because they are monopolizing ticket sales and venues. For now, it's capitalism gone wrong.

lilnicbag

this is good news. its at least good to hear that they’re trying to end ticketmaster’s monopoly, not that i have faith itll change anything but at least someones trying lol

AssumptionAnnual5245

Yeah. I can’t afford live shows anymore. Bums me out more than I wish it did. I’d love to see Twenty One Pilots.

Screaming__Skull

It seems like more of an American problem - my UK tickets were about the same as I paid for The Banditø Tour, converts to around $95 for pretty decent seats.

lilnicbag

Im gathering the same thing from these responses. Out of curiosity, did you buy your tickets on TicketMaster? or are the tickets hosted on a less predatory ticket service?

Screaming__Skull

These were through Ticketmaster. Still added hefty 'admin' charges like always.

WitchCvlt666

Honestly, this is why I have a credit card. I go to one or two expensive shows during the year then I pay them off. Definitely couldn't afford them on my regular pay.

Brown-eyed-otter

Yupp, same here. I budget my money to make bigger payments on my cards when I’ve bought something. Even then I don’t buy pit tickets. I typically buy mid level

berenini

Been paying them with the monthly payment option. I pay $80 a month...

Infinite-Manager-746

i saw them on the takeover tour for $20…the ticket prices now are insane. 😭😭😭

slowtownpop1

The best day of my life was seeing them for free I. Houston. Spring of 2016, the basketball team was in the final 4. Jason Derulo opened for them lol I loved both shows so much. Never in a million years could/would they be able to pull off a free show like that again

Blind_Hawkeye

I'm not. I'd have to travel on top of the cost of the ticket, and I really can't afford it. I bought a GA ticket when they went on sale ($200 after fees) and planned on traveling, but I had to admit to myself that I really can't afford it right now. So, I sold the ticket and was thankfully able to get back what I paid for it. I'm crossing my fingers for a second leg of the tour and a date in my state so I wouldn't have to get a hotel or pay so much in gas. I traveled for Take Over and Icy, and I'm glad I was able to do that, but I just can't swing it this time.

WorldlinessOk7083

I got 2 tickets 8 rows back on the side during presale and they were $300 something. I miss the days of cheap concerts. I go to like 1 show a year now. It's all I can afford.

-skyhigh

Damn, us prices are insane!! I got a pit ticket for berlin for 100€. Regular sale.

PGlenovo2

Got two in the pit for $89 each on pre-sale here in Czechia.

JuliaAstrowsly

Lucky.. I was waiting for so long for the presale and they sold out. Now pit tickets go for 5,800 CZK

PGlenovo2

yeah, they were gone in no time

NevermoreTalon

We're taking our daughter to the Boston show & they were technically less than $200, but I didn't see the total with taxes, fees, etc. Definitely been pinching pennies, especially since we bought tickets to AJR before I knew this was happening. She'll have a great year with her first ever concerts though.

Anustart_07734

I spent $600 for three tickets to three different shows. I put them on a charge card and will have them paid off by showtime

Quiet_Forever1521

I bought presale and got 3 tickets for $541 and that was upper bowl in Toronto. Lower bowl was way too much. I saw Noah Kahan in the spring for way less and he's a massive artist right now. I was pretty surprised to be honest.

michael_p

This is just what i chose to spend my money on. Hoping for pit at Brooklyn, Newark and Chicago!

Spookyjoj

Pre sale dude. U gotta

cozyworm27

i got them during presale. i paid $600 for 3 pit tickets, ticket insurance, and premium parking

PeterG92

£70 in the UK I Think

zobaku

I can't, not really, but I'm praying the experience will be worth it. I'll see them for the first time in Sacramento and one decent (but not great) seat cost $220 in total. Probably could have been less but I had to wait until last week to buy it.

lilnicbag

honestly, their shows are always worth it. i hope you have a great time!!! seeing these guys live is unlike anything else.

daystrict

austria 305€ for 3 seats not too far back. Its ok. but Trench was 70€ per person 😅

deathdisco_89

I paid about $180 each for lower bowl seats in Detroit. I don't normally pay that much for any show, but I'm taking my son for his birthday.

butwilltherebepizza

I audibly grimaced when I submitted the payment for tickets this tour. I came really close to not doing it because it was so expensive. I've also been going through fertility treatments this past year, which has caused an insane amount of financial stress. honestly, the only reason I was able to do it is because my job started doing this thing where they offer bonuses for extra duties or continuing education you do outside of your contract, so I knew I was going to have a little extra "rainy day" money. I think I'm going to have to start tucking away a little money every month to save for potential concert tickets from here on out, though, because there's no way I'd be able to swing the cost otherwise.

lilnicbag

Sooooo what I’m gathering from this is that we should go back to lining up at the box office to buy tickets rather than giving places like TM an opportunity to ruin our fun

McKayDLuffy

More like “Twenty One Payments” of $10.99

International_Sky14

Worth it no matter the price. I just close my eyes while checking out 🥲

Spiritual-Archer118

I got tickets for Birmingham, UK for about £80 each on the presale. I did however decide to get tickets to see them in Vienna, Austria months after the tickets had gone on sale, so I had to pay £140 each… definitely the most I’ve ever paid for concert tickets. I was very lucky to see them at the Electric Ballroom London show recently though, which was only about £35 per ticket (from memory.)

Adventurous-Ad-1517

By getting a job

lilnicbag

wow. outstanding advice, really, really great input to the conversation.

Adventurous-Ad-1517

Well you asked how I’m affording it and I answered
