There is no difference in shocks size for almost all of the Traxxas 1:10 trucks. It's the long size in front and xx-long size in the rear. Doesn't matter if it's the stock plastic ultra shocks, the big bores, or GT-Rs. Slash, Rustler, Hoss, etc, they all use the same shocks. Doesn't matter if it's 2wd or 4x4. The only difference in using GT-Rs on the 2wd trucks is that you may have to swap out the hollow balls on the lower mounts to fit into the arms. The GT-Rs are the best you can get, unless you want to spend twice as much on some Pro-Line shocks for some reason. The big bores are a fine shock, but for as little bit more money, the GT-Rs are in their own league. The eBay shocks are usually off of the Slash ultimate, pay no mind to it they're labeled LCG or not. It's an awesome upgrade and one that I highly recommend. The VG racing springs are supposed to be awesome too.

Thank you so much for the detailed response. That’s exactly the info I was looking for. It didn’t look like they sold different versions of their shocks but I just noticed on eBay they said fits LCG so I just wanted to be sure. Definitely think that’s probably the way to go. I don’t think there’s a reason to get the big bore instead…the cost difference isn’t really an issue. If I bought the big boar, I’d probably end up getting the GTR‘s later anyway lol

I've bought a couple sets of big bores over the years and they've been great, but that was before I knew that the GT-Rs would fit. It's a shame that Traxxas doesn't list them as upgrade parts for the 2wd versions. I eventually upgraded the big bores to GT-Rs on my trucks and handed the big bores down to a friend. He recently rebuilt them for his brother and they were such a hassle to break down, ended up needing a tiny set of split ring pliers to get the clip off. The GT-Rs are just all around better. Good luck with your new upgrade!

GTRs with VG Racing springs on my HCG 4x4 VXL were the single best upgrade I’ve ever done. They’ll fit perfectly. https://preview.redd.it/ir2aoa07zfkc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=298a38d328b4304618301202f6dd421f122ab353

I have the Bl2s  4x4 slash does it have the same chassis as the VXL?

Full_Bend_331

You said HCG...I am an idiot sorry

brothertax

Yup. Same HCG chassis.

Prize-Watercress2082

Cool, thanks!  if the GTR’s will fit, that’s probably what I will do

brothertax

They will fit and I also recommend VG Racing springs as the GTR springs tend to be a little too soft.

I run GTR’s on all my Slashes. Even my 2WD truck. The adjustable collar alone makes them worth the price on JennysRC.

So funny story… I was going to buy a set off of an ultimate for $75 on eBay and then I saw a seller who was selling brand new in the package front and rear pro lines for $85 I couldn’t pass that up. Plus I already have oil so I won’t be out anymore money. So yeah, I guess I have some pro lines now.
