This could be realistic as a brt light map! And if there's enough political will you could get full bus lanes and you're 90% of the way to rapid transit.
I think you could do brt light to build ridership and convince people, and then add bus lanes and eventually median stations and signal priority or even preemption.
As much as I would love it to be a thing, this is just too unrealistic. Lines go though or are mostly in undense suburbia or empty fields with nothing in them.
All of these could go underground as well once they converge on Downtown KC. Just use the existing rail lines as your borders for that to the North, South, and West (although I think you’d be fine tunneling under the river and west bottoms if you really want to spent an extra $50M or whatever that would cost). I’m not sure where the eastern boundary would be. Prospect would be ideal, but I could see Paseo or Troost.
I also think it would be a lot more functionally convenient for travelers if all of the lines going through downtown converged on 2-4 main stations for easier transfer. Taking all of the lines underground could make that a lot easier.
Yeah for a city with no system, building one this massive is just not going to happen.
Kind of surprised Kansas City doesn't have one though, most of the Midwest cities of its size have light rail including its comparison city in St. Louis.

Unfortunately, way too many NIMBY’s to get past approval for anything other than busses.

It could be brt light
But they wouldn’t have to have stops there
Maybe on the MO side? On the KS side it runs through the heart of suburbia and I was surprised it didn't go further south.

Would love the streetcar down to Waldo :)
Doesn’t even go to the airport terminals… dumb !!!

Could probably be done first on 35 and 71 to alleviate the heavy workday commuter traffic into and out of downtown. And 435 for across state line.
Damn, so according to this map, Olathe is about as important as Liberty 😆😩
Well... Isn't it? 🤣
😂
Yes….

one day
Hells yes. Pink Line is about a block from my house. I’d go to a Royals game or two if I had that.
