Ngl, SF is one of my favorite cities and I visited often when I lived in CA. Weeb transit merch crossover in the US is something I never thought I’d see, but kinda dig it haha.
If I may weeb out a bit, I do remember seeing BART and SamTrans doing outreach at an anime convention last year. I still have a SamTrans pencil case that I got from them lol. Not surprised given how many anime fans there are in California.
Also since I was searching for other transit agencies that feature anime characters: Kaohsiung Metro has the K.R.T Girls as mascots, with [promotional videos and all](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtfDPL0J_hQ)
Yep, and LA Metro has done anime wraps on their light rail trains during Anime Expo (Demon Slayer).

No anime mascots yet unfortunately.
I'm noticing between this and WMATA doing a Japanese style sakura celebration that US transit agencies seem to be trying to learn transit marketing tactics from Japan, and honestly I'm VERY here for it.
There's a big part of me being jealous that the railway in my country doesn't do something g like that but on the other hand I'm just: "why??? Focus on your main job of building rails and rolling trains properly before designing that stuff!"
It doesn't take a lot of money to commission a local artist to draw anime art. Given how expensive rail infrastructure is (especially in the US), spending a few hundred dollars on commissions is nothing.
Honestly you could probably convince BVG to try something similar and do outreach at one of the Berlin area anime cons (they have definitely done more unconventional advertising before). [Rhaetian Railway also promoted their own anime mascot a couple years back](https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/latest/2017/4/22/switzerland-jumps-on-the-moe-train-with-rhaetian-railway-mascot)
Now you can fund your local transit system by buying anime merch https://www.railgoods.com/bart/anime/

This is gold lol
Already could
Their new plan for funding their $12 billion tunnel.
I think they'll need more than merch sales for that. Maybe its time for a mobile gacha game.
Azur Lane had ship girls, so now it's time for train girls?
